Wray seems rather minimally qualified for the job. He spent about eight years as a federal prosecutor, and has been at a law firm since 2005. Wikipedia bio here.
He’s from outside the FBI. No loyalty to Comey.
My main data point here is my father, but he still thinks GWB was the greatest guy ever to great, one third of his Republican Holy Trinity (along with Nixon and Saint Ronnie), and that the invasion of Iraq was totally justified because Saddam. And he’ll be happy to tell you how he feels about it.
Granted, I don’t think most Pubbies are still Nixon cheerleaders…
When someone like Wray takes a job like this, do they leave their job with the law firm? Give up their assigned parking space and key to the Executive Washroom? Do they keep their health insurance? Or do they go into some kind of “indefinite leave” limbo but their job is waiting when [del]Trump fires them[/del] they come back? Would that be a leave with or without pay?
IOW will Wray still get benefits from the law firm while he is F.B.I. director, either direct (salary, bonus) or indirect (health coverage)?
In the Trump administration, why wouldn’t he?
Hell, he’ll probably make a profit.
Good point, particularly given that he’s just lost his acting Ambassador to China (ostensibly over the withdrawal from the Paris accord).
“Hire my law firm or you’re getting investigated.”
The Trump Administration is a disaster wrapped in a fiasco inside a clusterfuck.
As my dad was fond of saying, “he couldn’t spell ‘cat’ if you spotted him the C and the A.”
I’m confused now. Does Trump own property in Qatar or not…?
Re: Christopher Wray. I understand that he’s Fay Wray’s grandson*. If he inherited her screaming genes, they’ll come in awfully handy when he takes his directives from the short-fingered vulgarian.
*FAKE NEWS!!!
Maybe a huge ape can come and carry him off.
Twitter users, blocked by Trump, cry censorship
“The tweeters — one a liberal activist, the other a cyclist who says he’s a registered Republican — have posted and retweeted plenty of complaints and jokes about Trump.”
Any Dopers out there following the Twitter Head? Bonus points if you have sent him a disparaging tweet.
They keep talking about shipping off to Greece to be Ambassador but the problem is they don’t have anyone else who wants to be Chief of Staff. No one wants to be involved in this insane administration.
I don’t do the Twitter thing, but every screenshot of Trump’s tweets that I’ve seen all seem to feature a long list of sarcastic insults in reply.
Word is that anyone with any ambition in life has turned down job offers in Trump’s White House. He may have to bring some Mexicans to do those jobs, if he can find some with zero dignity.
Sounds like that would against the rules. Kinda screams ‘conflict of interest’ doesn’t it?
To be fair those hard consonants can sound somewhat similar.
To those who are capable of hearing at that frequency.
That is exactly what I was thinking, but then I remembered whose administration we were talking about.
Here is Comey’s statement in advance of his testimony tomorrow.
What jumps out is that all that Trump cares about is that people know that he is not under investigation. It’s also amusing that Comey starts out referring very carefully to the “salacious allegations” about Trump in Russia but by the end he apparently got tired and just uses the word hookers. It’s an interesting read.
