The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

Oh, they’re going to say that even if they don’t remove him.

The party will suffer no lasting consequences for its role in this.

Just as Trump won’t suffer any consequences for his actions unless Republicans in power hold him accountable, the Republican party won’t suffer any consequences unless their base holds them accountable. And I have very little faith Republican voters to do that.

The problem is, Trump is still seen by many in the GOP as being useful. He can sign their batshittery into law, if they can just come to a consensus as a congress. That’s where Mike Pence’s chief of staff is going with this: Eliminate the infidels and bring in more of the extremists. The reward is billionaires probably paying next to nothing in taxes and, when it’s over, a whiter and more Christian fundamentalist society that cracks down on dissidents.

Lou Dobbs, going back to his harangues on CNN, is in many ways the brainchild of Trumpism. He was one of the first to demagogue the shit out of illegal immigration. He was the first white nationalist even before Bannon, and he had quite a following too.

Is the GOP discussing assassinations?
Did I miss the memo?

Not everyone you disagree with is a Nazi.

They’re discussing a purge based on personal loyalty to The Leader. Call it what you like.

Not every analogy to the Nazis is Godwinization.

The topic is encouraging donors to take their money elsewhere and the comparison is to a series of assassinations.

imho, these two topics are qualitatively different.

ymmv

What color is the sky on your planet?

Everything the Republicans claim to be is bullshit.

Family values? Nah, we just elected the pussy-grabbing, twice divorced, serial adulterer.

Christian values? Nah, they spent eight trashing an actual Christian, and now they’ve elected a guy who is clearly pretending, solely for political expediency.

Non-interventionist? Nah, Bush in Iraq and already Donny Shithead has lobbed missiles at Syria and is playing the fool in North Korea.

Fiscal responsibility? Nah, Reagan and Bush II were the least responsible presidents of modern times. Every tax cut is just a money grab for older, wealthier whites.

No morals, no principles, only the thirst for power. Remember Mitt Romneys principled stand against Trump? He is the exemplification of republican values: as soon as Trump attained power, Mittens was down on his knees under a restaurant table.

Add another one to the list:

I’d like to note that Trump isn’t making any headway at this pace, tho (and I hope it stays that way):

I suspect it involves rosé coloured goggles

Conservatics are in such thrall
Conservatics are in such thrall
The bullshit holds their twisted faces to the boor
And every day he breitbarts out more

Calm down, Rip van Winkle: while you were asleep, apparently at least since 1962, the phrase “Night of the Long Knives” became a standard political metaphor for a (nonviolent) governmental reorganization or purge.

If you’re offended by the metaphor’s Nazi associations, you should have spoken up fifty years ago.

The new phrase will be “Night Of The Short Fingers”.

Day of the Paper Towels?

(with no allusion to the use of the tubes therein)

Given the context—I asked if anyone could remember an event similar to Pence’s aid looking to cut-off funding to non-cooperative GOP—it seems that the actual historical event was being referenced.

If you examine the dialog, you may find that my interpretation is not unreasonable.

to wit:

Trump and Melania visit the wounded at a hospital in Las Vegas, which is nice. No prizes for guessing who the Donald wants the subject of the photo to be.

Did he tell them to “Have a good time”?

I’m guessing he was trying to join the patients in solidarity by giving a stool sample too?

I’m surprised he likes survivors who were shot.

It looks like Melania may be giving an impromptu prostate exam.
