The other option, though, would be to stop being a dick about the definitions of “assault weapon” versus “assault rifle” or showing off that you know what a flash suppressor is, and acknowledging:
That what people want is fewer goddamn guns around and fewer gun deaths, not specifically that weapons with flash suppressors be banned, and
That if you know about guns, maybe you could provide some constructive ideas.
Long story short: People are sick of gun nut bullshit and the nonsense that more guns will reduce gun fatalities. If you want to provide ideas, post some.

As far as the USA being a free society goes, you are not a full democracy, and you are not even in the top twenty democracies. You are a flawed democracy. Your constitutional right to gun ownership has not saved your country from falling from what once was a full democracy, and notably all of the countries that have bettered the USA in the democracy index have tight gun control.
Even worse, you have the highest incarceration rate of in the world, other than Seychelles, and you incarceration rate is far higher than any nation with a very high human development index score.
So opposing serious gun control akin to other nations with very high human development index scores by chanting the mantra of freedom is nothing more than flag waving.
