FBI Director Kash Patel reportedly canceled a planned trip to visit his girlfriend in Chicago as his plane was on the tarmac when frustrated White House officials summoned him to Washington for a meeting.

“Patel was coming (to Chicago) today for a fake office visit for his girlfriend’s country concert this weekend,” a source briefed on the trip told MS Now.

The outlet reported that while the precise reason for the meeting was unclear, Trump administration officials have been growing increasingly “disturbed” by Patel’s recent actions, including his plans to leave town amid the re-escalation of the Iran war and the alleged threats against the president, as well as his Friday morning tweet claiming to own a “gold plated” jet ski.

President Trump’s administration issued subpoenas on Friday to some New York Times journalists after the newspaper’s report this week on alleged security concerns involving the new Air Force One, according to the paper.

The Department of Justice addressed the subpoenas in a statement, but did not specify who they had been issued to or what publications they worked for. Two statements from The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press said the subpoenas were sent to Times reporters. The New York Times also reported on the filings.

The subpoenas seek to force the reporters to testify before a federal grand jury in Manhattan on Wednesday, the paper said, adding that federal agents delivered some subpoenas to the reporters at their homes.

“Every administration has addressed the crime of leaking national security information. To the extent that we have to investigate breaches of national security, that’s something that we will continue to do,” the department said, adding that “reporters are not the targets, those leaking classified information are.”

“We value and appreciate the important role that the press plays in this country, but DOJ also plays an important role to make sure that the people entrusted with our nation’s secrets do what they’re supposed to do with that information, which means not sharing classified information,” the department added.

For example, leaving boxes of classified documents in a bathroom open to foreign agents.

But, of course, the war on the press is peronal. (Everything with the convicted felon is.)

President Trump slammed New York Times journalist Maggie Haberman after she questioned his physical and cognitive fitness during an appearance on MS Now, warning that she will “pay the price” when his multibillion-dollar lawsuit against the Times reaches court.

In a lengthy Truth Social post on Saturday, Trump lashed out at Haberman after she questioned his mental clarity following a series of recent gaffs, including him calling Iran the “Islamic State of Japan.”

“Maggot Hagerman has covered me incorrectly for ten years,” he wrote. “She has made a living off her bad reporting, and will pay the price when our Multi Billion Dollar Lawsuit against The Failing New York Times gets to Court.”

The president defended his health, saying he had recently undergone a physical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and requested an additional cognitive exam.

“I just finished a perfect physical at Walter Reed, I do it every six months, and I requested another Cognitive Test, the only President to do so, three times, and I aced them all,” he said. “Few people in Washington, D.C., could do so, including Maggot and her flunky associate, Jonathan Swan.”

The convicted felon is definitely stuck in time.

July 11 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he had “just finished” a physical at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, referring to the medical examination he underwent in late May after which the White House said he was in excellent health.

“I just finished a perfect physical at Walter Reed, I do it every six months, and I requested another Cognitive Test, the only President to do so, three times, and I aced them all — Got every question right,” Trump, who turned 80 in June, posted on social media.

The White House said Trump was referring to his May physical.

He included the remarks in a social media post attacking New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman and her colleague Jonathan Swan, who recently published a book about Trump’s return to power that has drawn widespread attention.

Haberman and Swan’s “Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump” described concerns among some White House aides about Trump’s age, stamina and physical condition.

If there’s no need for the cognitive test, it doesn’t matter if he requests it, let alone on three different occasions.

Hunter Biden, the son of former President Biden, was awarded $1.7 million in damages on Friday as part of a defamation lawsuit against former Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne.

Byrne, a known denier of Biden’s victory over President Trump in the 2020 presidential election, accused the younger Biden of taking part in an $800 million bribery scheme involving Iran and failed to defend his claims in court.

U.S. District Judge Stephen Wilson of the Central District of California ruled the ex-executive acted with “intentional misrepresentation” and “conscious disregard” for Hunter’s rights, and said Byrne continued to amplify the false allegations even after Hunter filed the lawsuit against him.

“Here, the evidence is clear and convincing that [Byrne] has engaged in intentional misrepresentation with conscious disregard towards [Hunter’s] rights,” Wilson wrote in his 25- page ruling. The judge added that Byrne’s “defamation went far beyond mere negligence,” and that Byrne had encouraged his social media followers to spread the false report and promote it further.

Wilson, an appointee of former President Reagan, awarded Hunter $1 in nominal damages, as requested, in addition to $1.7 million in punitive damages. He also ordered the former Overstock chief to pay nearly $35,000 in previously imposed court sanctions within two weeks or face an additional $1,000 penalty for each day payment is delayed after the deadline.

A Democratic senator on Saturday alleged that whistleblowers have detailed several problems stemming from rushed or improper reconstruction of the Kennedy Center, adding a new layer to the travails of the arts complex as President Donald Trump tried to seize control of it and its name.

Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island said in a release on Saturday that he had received a whistleblower disclosure from the Government Accountability Project, a nonprofit whistleblower protection group, alleging that “the Center rushed a series of renovations driven by the President’s aesthetic whims and his desire to star in a series of televised events in December.”

“The Center’s subservience to the President’s desires and its corner-cutting contracting practices have resulted in steel columns that are rusting through fresh paint, a reflecting pool that may have to be torn out and rebuilt, and a brand-new bathroom floor torn out over an offending tile color,” Whitehouse continued. “This is waste, and it treats a national memorial to President Kennedy as if it were a private renovation project.”

Ah, yes, a reflecting pool disaster. Why not? One thing I learned from The Wizard of Oz is how detrimental water is to evil people.

The convicted felon is hallucinating buildings in Ankara.

After President Donald Trump arrived in Turkey on Tuesday, his attention quickly turned to some of his favorite topics: architecture and self-promotion.

“Just landing at the airport, to see such a beautiful airport, and to have a building named after me. I was very happy about that,” the president said during a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.

(Note: It is unclear what building Trump was referring to as there do not appear to be any structures named after him in Ankara. There is a Trump Towers complex in Istanbul that was built in a license partnership with Trump.)
