The Trump Administration: The Clusterfuck Continues (Part 2)

And for comparison, the largest stadium in the US holds about 107,000 people.

Michigan Stadium - Wikipedia Michigan Stadium - Wikipedia

The Saudis just built a stadium from scratch in about three weeks to host the Royal Rumble tomorrow, but;

  1. It only holds 35,000
  2. It’s designed to be single-use and is being torn down again after the show
  3. It was probably built with slave labor

A 100,000-seat stadium in the vicinity of the White House, even if they started actually working on it right now, would not be completed within Trump’s lifetime.

I am still trying to imagine an Indy style race in the DC streets. Apparently he is not aware of the condition of said streets. The potholes would certainly make it interesting. I imagine the cars would spend more time airbound then on the ground and tires would last about a block. Also, will he remember to turn off the traffic cameras? Otherwise, they are going to be issuing a ton of tickets.Just imagining an Indy driver having to negotiate the one way streets and the signals every block with “Don’t block the box” signs. Damn, I didn’t realize how traumatized I still am from working and driving in DC.

They’ve been doing Formula 1 in Vegas the last few years and it’s a logistical nightmare. I can’t imagine it being feasible to do the same thing in DC.

His dementia really is getting worse if he thinks any of this is actually going to happen in a few months’ time.

IIRC he also claimed his fantasy battleships would be built within two years.

Trump has the attitude that if he demands something be done, it should because his desires override all other considerations. And he doesn’t just ignore the law, he ignores the practicality of whatever he’s demanding. Battleships, a border wall, a giant stadium, Greenland, whatever; as far as he’s concerned if he demands it he should get it, immediately; and any issues with doing so are other people’s problems.

Of course no matter how loudly the Toddler-in-Chief demands something impossible, that makes it no less impossible.

It’ll be fun to see American soldiers standing on the shore lashing the sea with whips.

I was thinking, this morning, about metaphors for Trump 2.0. For whatever reason, what came to me was a good scene/lines from the movie, “The Rock:”

And the video version of the scene – about a minute.

Trump has a pathological need to be liked and admired. That seems to be embroiled in a lifelong battle between that character flaw and his unbridled greed.

In power, he was hoping to tilt the country, willingly, toward Project 2025 and the agendas of his benefactors. Polling and ratings – two of his favorite metrics – are no longer his friends.

Failing that, he’s tried wielding power like a drum and leadership like a violin: coercive speech, textbook demagoguery, Executive Orders that snapped America to grid, aligning us closely with his preordained script – the one he promised his puppet masters he could deliver, in exchange for the support of their machinery for his renewed candidacy.

As it becomes increasingly apparent that – not only are his methods failing to increase his support; they’re actually eroding it – the reptilian part (say: 90+%) of his ‘brain’ kicks in. I want what I want. All bets are off.

We didn’t acquiesce when asked by an old friend.
We stuttered – but remained implacable when ordered by a superior officer.
Now, we’re being given our last chance by a man with a gun.

“We can do this the easy way or we can do this the hard way.” His brain is permanently on speaker phone. His mind is All Id, all the time.

And Trump is drawing his appointees from ‘Universal Casting ( Universal Pedophilia? )

I posted upthread about the FBI raiding the elections office in Fulton Co, GA, looking for ‘evidence’ that the 2020 election was rigged.

This morning I’ve seen two new (to me) related developments. First with the morning news on, I just saw a ‘coming up’ segment about the FBI raid, with a clip of trump saying “we now have incontrovertible evidence that the election was rigged, and people will be prosecuted for it”.

Then I saw this article:

WTF? I’m surprised this whole story isn’t getting more attention in the media. Yes, I got this info from the media, but it seems like it’s being treated as a ‘below the fold’ item, when I think it should be in screaming headlines. The trump admin directed the FBI to pursue what every rational official involved knows is completely fictional bullshit, fired the top official in charge who balked at following this vendetta, and the President is threatening prosecutions of the supposed people in charge of this imaginary crime.

I know he says a lot of shit that never actually happens, and I know that even if there are attempts at prosecutions, they likely wouldn’t go anywhere. I think that the courts still hold to old-fashioned notions like ‘standards of evidence’ and ‘the rule of law’. But it’s still likely to ruin the lives and careers of people who were just doing their jobs and their duty. And it’s one more toppled pillar of our free and fair election process.

It’s the old rule; “Good, Fast, Cheap. Choose two.”

Trump could get this stuff done, since we know he’s ignoring all the laws that make “Fast” difficult, but he’s constitutionally incapable of not being cheap. There’s no way he’d actually pay people what it would take to get this stuff done properly, so it’s going to be “Good” that gets tossed out. You’ll get a racetrack that’s impossible to drive on, and a stadium that collapses when it’s half full.

And, they began planning and designing the route nearly five years ahead of the inaugural race, and it took over nine months to pave all the streets to F1 standards.

And Chicago’s downtown NASCAR race, which required a much shorter circuit and lower speeds, still took about a year and a half to pull together.

Not to mention that IndyCar’s 2026 schedule has already been published.
If this race happens I’ll eat a Firestone tire.

Damn, we’re never going to see you eat that tire. Sucks to be us, I guess.

Personally, I’d have chosen a Michelin tire, but you do you.

Firestone is the brand IndyCar uses. Just trying to stay on theme.

As @wheelz noted, Chicago had a NASCAR street race the past three years, and yes, it made local residents and businesses very unhappy, as numerous downtown streets were closed off for weeks.

I know. In case it didn’t come through, I was going for a Michelin Star reference.

Just make sure to choose the right backing track:

In shocking news Greg Bovino doesn’t like Jewish people in addition to not liking non-whites.

Bovino: Stop calling us Nazis!

Also Bovino: Them f*@%ing Jews, amiright??

Todd Blanche, Deputy United States Deputy Attorney General and STILL DEMENTO DON’S personal lawyer. Conflicted? Yeah. Everything from Maxwell’s silencing, illegal deportations, and government agency shutdowns that willfully and knowingly violated court orders.
