To be fair (a phrase I hate to apply to any actions of Donald Trump or his maladministration), the rainbow Pride flag was designed and first displayed in 1978 in San Francisco, and so would be an anachronism in the context of the historical 1969 Stonewall riots. If you construe the Monument as being about the start of the movement as a whole, it certainly fits, of course; and I’m sure the Interior Department can be shown to be hypocritical about this issue with how they’ve placed another anachronism of the type they favor, though I have no example at hand.
