The administration’s version of It’s a bird; it’s a plane .
EL PASO, Texas (AP) — The sudden and surprising airspace closure over El Paso, Texas, on Wednesday — first announced as extending for 10 days but lasting only a few hours — stemmed from the Pentagon’s plans to test a laser to shoot down drones used by Mexican drug cartels, according to three people familiar with the situation who spoke on condition of anonymity to share sensitive details.
That caused friction with the Federal Aviation Administration, which wanted to ensure commercial air safety, and the two agencies sought to coordinate, according to two of the people.
Despite a meeting scheduled later this month to discuss the issue, the Pentagon wanted to go ahead and test the laser, prompting the FAA to shutter the airspace over the city on the U.S.-Mexico border. It was not clear whether the laser was ultimately deployed.
Beside the traveling public, guess who else was affected by this.
And Senator Duckworth sums up the situation aptly.
U.S. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., a former Army helicopter pilot who serves on committees focused on aviation and the armed services, said the issue Wednesday was the latest example of “the lack of coordination that’s endemic in this Trump administration.”
That’s rather polite compared to what El Paso’s congressional representative had to say.
U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar, a Democrat whose district includes El Paso, said neither her office nor local officials received any advance notice of the closure. After it was lifted, she said that “the information coming from the federal government does not add up."

WASHINGTON (AP) — Attorney General Pam Bondi launched into a passionate defense of President Donald Trump Wednesday as she tried to turn the page from relentless criticism of the Justice Department’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files , repeatedly shouting at Democrats during a combative hearing in which she postured herself as the Republican president’s chief protector.
Besieged by questions over Epstein and accusations of a weaponized Justice Department, Bondi aggressively pivoted in an extraordinary speech in which she mocked her Democratic questioners, praised Trump over the performance of the stock market and openly aligned herself as in sync with a president whom she painted as a victim of past impeachments and investigations.
“You sit here and you attack the president and I’m not going to have it," Bondi told lawmakers on the House Judiciary Committee. "I am not going to put up with it.”
You’re confused. Your boss is not protected from criticism like the worthless king of Thailand. Your boss is just worthless.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The National Governors Association said governors from both parties would be able to meet with President Donald Trump later this month after the White House initially extended invitations to a business meeting only to Republicans.
“We’re pleased the president will welcome governors from all 55 states and territories to the White House," Brandon Tatum, the group’s chief executive, said Wednesday.
It’s still unclear whether every governor will participate in the full White House event. Trump initially planned to invite only Republicans to a business meeting while the governors are in Washington for their annual gathering later this month. That prompted an outcry from dozens of Democrats who said they would boycott a dinner at the White House if they weren’t fully included at the business meeting.
I think every one of the Democrats should boycott the dinner at the Orange Dump what’s left of the White House. And then make arrangements to have the business meeting elsewhere without the felon’s presence.
And why am I advocating that? (The bolding is mine.)
WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump said he’s still not inviting two Democratic governors to a bipartisan meeting and dinner next week at the White House, despite the National Governors Association suggesting the president agreed to meet with all its members.
Trump reaffirmed in a Feb. 11 Truth Social Post that he won’t meet with Governors Wes Moore of Maryland and Jared Polis of Colorado. The NGA, in a statement just hours earlier, applauded Trump for agreeing to “welcome governors from all 55 states and territories to the White House,” regardless of their party affiliation.
Trump disputed that characterization and lashed out at Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt, a Republican and the chairman of the NGA, who spoke to Trump by phone earlier in the day. Trump said Stitt “incorrectly stated my position” about the upcoming gathering with governors.
“The invitations were sent to ALL Governors, other than two, who I feel are not worthy of being there,” Trump said.
Wouldn’t it be hilarious if the next real president doesn’t invite Rip van Simple to the inauguration because he isn’t worthy to be there ?
Roadkillface defends his idol’s racism.
Vice President JD Vance said he didn’t think the president should apologize for posting a video including a racist depiction of former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama that transposed their faces onto animated apes in a jungle.
Speaking to reporters before boarding Air Force Two during a foreign trip to Azerbaijan on Wednesday, Feb. 11, Vance repeated the White House’s version of events regarding the shared video, saying a staffer posted the video without watching it entirely and then took it down.
“It’s not a real controversy,” Vance said. “We have much, much more real problems to focus on.”
In other words: it’s fake . And, not for nothing, but shouldn’t someone who thinks English is the one and only language for the country be somewhat conversant in the language’s grammar?
Have I mentioned that for today’s Republicans there is no silent part ? (The bolding is mine.)
Republican Sen. Ron Johnson (Wis.) said Tuesday that Democrats “got their martyrs” when immigration authorities shot and killed two U.S. citizens in Minneapolis last month.
Alex Pretti and Renee Good were shot and killed by federal immigration authorities in separate incidents during operations in Minnesota last month.
On Tuesday, Johnson said “Democrats are trying to neuter ICE’s ability to enforce our immigration laws.”
He later said the deaths of Pretti and Good were a result of Democratic rhetoric.
“So, what ended up happening is they, the people who organized this, the elected officials who are encouraging this, they encouraged Alex Pretti to put himself into harm’s way. So, they knew that those people were in danger, and they got their martyrs, didn’t they? They got their martyrs,” Johnson said during an appearance on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”
“No, it’s a tragedy. I think it’s sick. I think it’s sick the elected officials would encourage their supporters, their trained activists , to put themselves into harm’s way to impede and obstruct legal law enforcement actions. That is exactly what’s happening. You have to face that reality. It’s a sick reality,” he added.
They’ve stopped even pretending to care about religious liberty.
Carrie Prejean Boller has been removed from the White House Religious Liberty Commission after Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R), who chairs the body, accused her of trying to “hijack” a hearing on antisemitism this week.
“No member of the Commission has the right to hijack a hearing for their own personal and political agenda on any issue. This is clearly, without question, what happened Monday in our hearing on antisemitism in America. This was my decision,” Patrick wrote in a statement on the social platform X .
Patrick made the announcement days after Boller, who wore an American and Palestinian flag pin to the hearing, stirred controversy for steering the conversation toward the definition of antisemitism and how it relates to Israel.
“Elvis the Pelvis” fear is alive and well!
Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) called for a formal congressional inquiry into Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance , accusing the show of featuring “explicit and indecent content.”
In a statement shared on X Monday evening, Ogles asked for the Energy and Commerce Committee to lead an investigation into what the National Football League and NBCUniversal knew about Bad Bunny’s set, suggesting they helped facilitate, what he called, an “indecent broadcast.”
“I write to request that you open a formal congressional inquiry,” Ogles wrote, “consistent with the Committee’s jurisdiction over broadcast regulation and FCC oversight, into the National Football League (NFL) and NBCUniversal regarding their prior knowledge, review and approval of explicit and indecent content broadcast during the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show on February 8, 2026.”
He continued: “The halftime performance, headlined by Bad Bunny, was aired live during primetime hours on over-the air-television and viewed by tens of millions of Americans, including a substantial number of children and families. The Super Bowl is consistently the largest family viewing event in American media. As such, broadcasters bear a heightened responsibility to ensure that programming aired during this uniquely national event complies with longstanding broadcast decency expectations and serves the public interest.”
Ogles specifically took issue with the performances of “Safaera,” which he called “a track widely known for explicit sexual references and graphic lyrical content,” and “Yo Perreo Sola,” which he said had “choreography featuring overtly sexualized movements, including widespread twerking, grinding, pelvic thrusts and other sexually suggestive conduct.”
“While the set was performed predominantly in Spanish, it relied on songs whose sexual content remained readily apparent across any language barrier,” Ogles went on.
I thought he was supposed to be watching the far right substitute show.
Here’s someone who really should’ve been watching that show instead of the real one.
Original Real Housewives of New York City star Jill Zarin will not be returning to TV as planned for E!'s upcoming reunion series, The Golden Life .
The 62-year-old reality star has been fired from the series, which was announced last week and has not yet entered production. Amid mounting controversy following an inflammatory rant Zarin posted against Bad Bunny ’s Super Bowl LX halftime show , The Golden Life production company Blink49 Studios issued a statement announcing Zarin’s removal from the cast on Tuesday.
“In light of recent public comments made by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with her involvement in The Golden Life ,” read the statement shared with Entertainment Weekly . “We remain committed to delivering the series in line with our company standards and values.”
And, in keeping with the “there is no silent part” M.O.
“It was the worst halftime show ever. I just don’t think it was appropriate to have it in Spanish,” Zarin stated in the now-deleted video that has since been captured and reshared .
“I don’t speak Spanish, I would’ve liked to have known the words he was saying. To me, it looked like a political statement because there were literally no white people in the entire thing. I’m not taking a side, one way or the other.”
Maybe she didn’t really watch it if she thought there weren’t any white people in the half-time show.
