The Trump Administration: The Clusterfuck Continues (Part 2)

Yes, the Duma is not there to rubber stamp whatever Dear Leader says.

And afterwards the wimps can always say, “Well, we didn’t think he would go through with it!”

Well, I was a day early on predicting a stock market plunge in response to Trump’s blustering threats. The Dow is down over 400 points at this moment.

Expect a wondrous negotiations breakthrough fantasy to be announced by early to mid-afternoon, to fuel a big rally before the market closes.

Yeah, what the everloving fuck?

It may be another example of TACO trump blustering, then backing off and calling it a big win, but this rhetoric is absolutely insane. I thought one of the dozen or so oft-conflicting reasons for starting this war was so that we could protect the Iranian people against their leaders. That’s a little difficult if we annihilate their entire civilization.

Now now, let’s not exaggerate, may be he means not to kill them all but to brutally occupy their country and brainwash them until they lose all Iranian characteristics…

and how is this different from genocide ?

I certainly don’t think I said anything to suggest that it was any different from a genocide.

Sorry, I wasn’t criticising you! It was a clumsy attempt at highlighting the increasing nazification of DJT’s rhetoric – how they say “genocide” without using the “g” word.

Ah ok, cool-- thanks for the clarification.

I watched The Day After. It was decades ago, and there’s a lot I don’t remember about it, but lots I do. The most depressing movie I’ve ever seen, scary as hell right now, and I’ll never watch it again. Hopefully no one ever has to live through that scenario. :frowning:

Remember, it’s TACO Tuesday.

Tucker Carlson is unhappy though. From ABC News:

When you’ve lost Tucker Carlson and MTG, the end is surely near. :face_with_spiral_eyes: :scream:

My deepest sympathies.

I feel like when I start agreeing with Carlson and MTG, the end must surely be near! In a ‘hell must be freezing over’ sense.

And it’s not just Carlson and MTG…

None of the dipshit Republican parrots at my job have complained about gas and grocery prices lately, which is weird. A few years ago they were practically foaming at the mouth over them.
Real weird.

A major Congressional ally is backing away…

The leading Trump sycophants in Congress, though, are quiet on Trump’s latest lunatic turn. Nothing heard from House Speaker Mike Johnson or Sen. Lindsey Graham. The reliably groveling Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana is silent too, even though Trump already endorsed one of his opponents in the upcoming primary.

Apparently, it’s now Patriotic to pay more for gas.

I truly appreciate this reporter, but I worry for his sanity.

Aren’t all of these people the same ones who said the Democrats take him literally and not seriously, the Republicans take him seriously but not literally?

NOW they’re realizing that neither option is good here - either he will literally commit war crimes, or his serious attitude will get thousands (millions?) of people killed.

Just wait until we find out how indifferent Republicans will be to either of those.

Trump has his back against the wall. He’s losing and lashing out. Iran is committing the worse sin imaginable; they’re ignoring King Trump and making him look bad. I think tonight is the night that Trump will order a nuclear strike on Iran. I think, if he does so, the people in the room with him will try to talk him out of it in favor of any other option (likely still bad). If that works, it will just be a Tuesday like any other. If Trump absolutely insists that “I’m the President and I order a nuclear strike NOW!” then I think it’s probable the 25th amendment will be used tonight. It would be foolish, given Trump’s clearly diminished mental state and uncontrolled rage, for JD Vance and the powers that be to not be prepared for this possibility. If Hegseth goes along with the order and agrees to launch nukes, then I think we could see a coup in the White House. I can’t imagine top military brass actually agreeing to use nukes in the circumstances that Trump has created. If I were to give odds, I think there’s a 66% chance that Trump is removed as President tonight.
