Anything not forbidden is mandatory.
Gaudere’s Law.
Why do I have Eric Blair invading my head so often these days?
Statistics were just as much a fantasy in their original version as in their rectified version. A great deal of the time you were expected to make them up out of your head. For example, the Ministry of Plenty’s forecast had estimated the output of boots for the quarter at one-hundred-and-forty-five million pairs. The actual output was given as sixty-two millions. Winston, however, in rewriting the forecast, marked the figure down to fifty-seven millions, so as to allow for the usual claim that the quota had been overfulfilled. In any case, sixty-two millions was no nearer the truth than fifty-seven millions, or than one-hundred-and-forty-five millions. Very likely no boots had been produced at all. Likelier still, nobody knew how many had been produced, much less cared. All one knew was that every quarter astronomical numbers of boots were produced on paper, while perhaps half the population of Oceania went barefoot.
Except it’s run by anti-science liars, so we can’t trust their claims at all.
I make no claims about the veracity of the data.
But my gut tells me that crossings, both legal and illegal, are way down. YMMV, of course.

Why is Sans Serif ‘wasteful’?
“Wasteful” is one of those anti-DEI buzzwords. DEI efforts are useless, and therefore any money spent on DEI is money wasted. And since sans serif fonts are easier to read for people with visual disabilities, Calibri is clearly a woke, DEI font which must be disparaged and shunned.
I keep thinking back to the Suits episode where Louis Litt chews out a first-year associate for submitting a brief that has “Times New Roman’s stupid little feet walking all across the page.”
Why is Sans Serif ‘wasteful’?
Everyone is complaining because there are no illegals left to pick vegetables and such. All those serifs should be put to work in the fields, picking vegetables, and even cotton, too! Serifdom is a mainstay of Western Civilization!
Oh, wait…
Serifdom is a mainstay of Western Civilization!
That all changed after the Black(letter) Death in the Middle Ages. Things got very Gothic.
Apparently typeface was too woke? Poor Little Marco, so desperate for a drop of Daddy Trump’s approval. What a tool.

From the link:
Then-Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken ordered the 2023 typeface shift on the recommendation of the State Department’s office of diversity and inclusion, which Mr. Rubio has since abolished.
Which, of course, is why it had to be changed. Otherwise, how could they continue to bang the “End DEI Now!” drum.
Of course, if the people are ever able to wrest the levers of government from the Oligarch billionaires who are destroying democracy, we will have to create a Cabinet level position for the Department or Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion.
Why is Sans Serif ‘wasteful’?
Think of all the precious milliseconds spent figuring out whether “AI” means artificial intelligence or some guy’s name!
we will have to create a Cabinet level position for the Department or Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion.
And the Secretary of Fonts.
Every school will have a mandatory Font Club.
Things got very Gothic.

Bravo.
One question about the clusterfucker in chief: he keeps claiming that the dangerous southern border is closed. Is there any actual truth to that? Have crossings even slowed down?
In which direction?
Do NOT talk about Font Club!
Feds bring woman to US to face charges, then say she’s here illegally
Federal prosecutors spent over a year working to extradite a Belarusian woman accused of smuggling more than $2 million in sensitive U.S. aviation equipment into Russia as it waged war on Ukraine.
But the case could fall apart because the defendant, Yana Leonova, is now at risk of being deported before going to trial.
…
“Indeed, it is both preposterous and offensive for the government to bring someone into the United States against their will and then turn around and seek ICE detention because that person is here ‘illegally,’” U.S. Magistrate Judge Zia M. Faruqui said in the written order. “The government needs to decide what its priorities are: ginning up deportation stats or prosecuting alleged criminals.”
U.S. Magistrate Judge Zia M. Faruqui
Sounds like one of those diverse names. They can ignore her. /s
I had to share this JD Vance gem.
It’s a 3-fer:

The vice president riffed on making a "narrow exception to the First Amendment."
