Note: The above is a fictional story and is no way related to an alleged encounter between an aircraft carrier and a lighthouse. 
The usual time honored way, if I’m not mistaken is the classical “Shot across the bow”, not tanker is going to ignore someone firing live ammo.
If that’s too violent for these degenerate times I guess marines boarding the ship would work.
One thing that hasn’t been made clear to me so far (probably because there is no actual plan here) is once you have the tankers, what do you do with them? Sail them to the Gulf Coast so the US can hoard all the oil? Detain them until someone agrees to pay a ransom? Sink them?
The whole war has been run along this model so it’s no surprise:

- ???
- Profit!
Step 3, of course, is a perpetual two weeks from now.
Theoretically they point of a blockade is not to profit from it but to force the blockaded party to surrender.
With Trump though, no idea, perhaps he thinks he will keep the oil or the money, or both.
