Well, that was designed by smart people. SMRT. “Did you know there is an ‘a’ in ‘smart’? Most people don’t know that. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.”
Well also, Wildfire had an automatic self destruct that could only be turned off by one person turning a key. Otherwise BOOM. trump or Don jr would probably be the one assigned the key, and they’d forget it, or go golfing, or forget how keys work. Hmmm, losing the White House might be a small price to pay.
As I’ve noted before, I suspect that Michael Crichton ripped off his plan for the Wildfire installation from the Ivan Tors movie Gog which also featured a secret underground base, made of several levels, where secret scientific research was going on, and which also had a nuclear device that threatens to go off at the end of the movie. So the guys who designed it were the designers of that film
I would trust the entity whom real Christians call Jesus. The self- serving, ugly thing these people seem to worship? Not so much. Fecking bobbleheaded stoat.
There’s that, I guess, but first, I’m wondering what Bill Pulte has ever done to be compared to Jesus. Maybe he’s got the water into wine thing going and is a hit at parties
He didn’t do anything to merit the comparison. It’s just another Republican speaking the name in public. They get bonus heaven points or something for doing that.
Surely I’m not the only person who, on reading Monty’s initial suggestion, pictured Donald trying to climb the ladder through the facility’s central core, while being hit with lasers…?
(Frankly I doubt he has the upper-body strength needed to haul himself up more than one or two rungs.)
(Also: interesting, @CalMeacham —I hadn’t heard of Gog. I wouldn’t put a bit of IP theft past ol’ Michael Crichton, certainly.)
Even for someone who knows nothing about buildings and pools this statement is so dumb it hurts.
It has been published in the El País website, a respectable newspaper. So probably not AI slop. If it is, an one must always assume the worst today, in particular because AI is getting better and better and we still tend to believe “this is too stupid even for President Ineptstein”, my apologies.
But we know we give him too much credit: it probably is not AI. He is an idiot.
ETA: total height of 829.8 m (2,722 ft, or just over half a mile)
To give him partial credit, it’s actually less blindingly stupid than most of his output. At least he recognizes bigger number is bigger. I wouldn’t have bet he retained that level of numeracy
He is not only saying that----he’s trying to sell the idea that this is Meaningful and Important.
Thank our God that our beloved King is ON TOP of this crucial comparison of the length of a pool to the height of buildings!!! What terrible things might have happened were he NOT on top of it???
(It’s definitely NOT AI-slop—there’s video of him going on and on about it.)
That is how I understand it, yes. He seems to believe than digging a long hole is as difficult as stacking bricks higher and higher on top of each other.
Never mind that there is at least one skyscraper that is taller.
ETA: And now I see that he is not saying that the pool is longer than the highest building in NY after the twin towers fell. His building, named after him. No, he shows the Empire State Building. He really is a petty moron.
More than that - he’s trying to sell the idea that he should also get credit for the length of the pool, which was built over a century ago, i.e. before he was even born
