It starts with racism, and then moves to homophobia. There’s a lot of people out there for whom the thought that there is a black couple who are both smarter, more accomplished, just all-around better than they are makes their head explode. So they respond with what they conceive of as the nastiest, most disgusting, hateful insult possible: the woman is really a man, and the man is really gay. It’s a racism/homophobe daily double.
I am pretty sure @Monty intended to type “[…] Twitler is not like his idol of old in that department […]”.
But I’m not quite sure what he intended to mean by it. As in, Trump (“Twitler”) is not like Hitler (??) when it comes to keeping his eye on the ball (???) ? I don’t get it.
I sincerely believe that the reason the tightie-righties hate drag is that they’ll be fooled, and find one attractive. And the next thing you know they’ve done run off and moved in with Lola and no one told them, and that means they are -gasp!- gay!
Which they are. But denial runs deep in those people.
I don’t think you even need that “they’ll be fooled” qualifier. I’m sure plenty of them find drag queens and transfems attractive, and then they turn their self-repulsion outwards towards the objects of their desire. They’re trying to make their problem into other people’s problem.
(In the above, Monty quotes from the article linked.)
I think Carville is wrong. Donald MIGHT be gone by Easter 2027, but if so it will not be a voluntary exit. (So: either death or a coma. Or in the unlikeliest of all scenarios: he’s removed via 25th or impeachment/conviction.)
Donald, no matter how old and tired he may be, will never willingly give up being the center of the world’s attention. He’s surrounded himself with people who bow and scrape and praise him without ceasing; he wouldn’t be able to arrange anything so comprehensively ego-boosting as a private citizen.
I hope Carville doesn’t put any of his own money on the bet that Donald will “walk away.” It will never happen.
If they really did a time capsule for America’s 250th, to be unearthed 250 years from now,(let me do some math), that will be America’s hypothetical 500th.
I bet those guys will be looking for the 400th one to open. They’ll say: “It’s every hundred years, right, amigos?”
