You have to know that someone described this half-assed paint job as a liquid pool liner and now Trump thinks there’s an actual pool liner that’s been cut.

AIUI, the new blue coating on the Reflecting Pool is a polyurea spray application on the concrete surface. Does Trump believe, or is he trying to make the public believe, that the blue surface was a separate standalone insertion like a 350-foot plastic kiddie pool? Did he get this spray-on coating confused with a physical “pool liner”?
In any case, AFAICT, the algae bloom is both a very common problem with warm shallow ponds, and very likely to have been exacerbated by the darker blue color of the new pool interior absorbing more heat.
And the peeling chunks of coating cannot have been caused by one longitudinal “slit”. It’s a surface bonding issue between the concrete and the spray-on polyurea, AFAICT most likely due to insufficient surface preparation because rush job.
Meanwhile, the company that installed the American Flag Blue shitshow will repair the fuckup under warranty. Would they really do this if it were vandalism?

Atlantic Industrial Coatings in conjunction with the US Park Service has identified some areas in the Reflecting Pool that require repairs. These areas are a very small part of the massive 7 acre project, and do not indicate a failure of the liner.
These repairs can not be made until the pool is drained. As soon as its feasible for the Park, the pool will be drained and AIC will be back to make those needed repairs as part of the warranty.
Why not? He got maybe a few million out of the deal, Trump keeps the rest.

And finally, a personal note. My Chinese weather app recently had an update which made the thing so inaccurate, I started calling it Sharpie. Yesterday’s update fixed the problems and it’s now rather good.
No Trumpy-Wumpy, I am not convinced. Why would anyone want to vandalize the Reflecting Pool to make Trump look bad? Trump looks bad every time he opens his mouth. Peeling paint on a monument in DC isn’t going to make him look any worse. Nobody cares about it except him.
I guess the good news to come out of this is that his dementia has now progressed to the point where he is making up new enemies that don’t actually exist in reality. I bet that’s going to make working in the White House fun for everyone who isn’t him.
What would indicate a failure of the liner? Maybe if the reflecting pool caught on fire.
