Trump says America “couldn’t build a plane” like the new Air Force One.
It’s a Boeing. It was built in Seattle.
As President Donald Trump boarded his inaugural flight of the new Air Force One, a luxury jet donated by the government of Qatar, he shared his excitement for the new aircraft and its foreign builders, saying the US "couldn't build a plane like...
My hope is that his terms will be referred to as “The American Interregnum.” His name will not be mentioned, references will be stripped from all buildings and documents, and work will move forward to reverse any and all decisions from this sorry time. No books, no biographies, … just nothing. A blank period in history.
Damnatio memoriae is the term you are longing for. I support your motion.
Ah, thank you. Yes, that is much more accurate.

Except for the scarred marble on the Kennedy Center facade and some hotels.
One idea is to just leave the east wing of the Whitehouse as a smouldering pit. (maybe even put an eternal smoke machine in there). As a warning to other dictator wanna-be’s.

Those Who Cannot Remember the Past Are Condemned To Repeat It.
Dark Ages > Renaissance > Enlightenment
“History doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes.”

Smapti:
“As I see my two beautiful sons sitting there, I think I’m going to give one to myself, one to them,” Trump said, with Don Jr. and Eric Trump in the audience. “And we’ll have a threesome.”
I took a chance and watched the clip and for some reason he’s talking about awarding Congressional Medals of Honor to himself (for taking on Russia, Russia, Russia; by “taking on” I assume he means fellating Putin) and to his sons (for hunting). The threesome part tells me that his dementia progresses, and he has lost what little inhibition he ever had. But what I think is the really shameful part is how he’s talking about awarding these medals to himself, a spineless, dickless coward who white privileged his way out of mandatory service in Vietnam. I feel like it wasn’t all that long ago that anyone would be saying goodbye to their political career forever for even joking about stealing valor. For Christ’s sake, Howard Dean lost his career over an enthusiastic yell.
He thought he was being “cutesy” by making a joke.
And by making a joke of it, he demeans everyone who has ever gotten the Medal. And he has absolutely no self-awareness of that fact. It just means nothing to him.
Do you think if the nation buried Trump in medals, giving him with an absolutely straight face and appropriate ceremony medals for being the tallest person in the world, the smartest person in the world, the greatest war hero ever, the first person on the moon, the highest scoring basketballer ever etc, till his suit was so covered in medals he looked like one of those ridiculous North Korean generals (only moreso) he would ever reach the point where he said “enough!” or realised everyone was doing it to mock him?
A few years back I would have said “yes”. These days I’m honestly not sure.
… if you painted an emotional black hole orange …

The Big Liar’s hired a liar to prove the Big Lie and spy on your mortgage, to boot.
President Donald Trump said he authorized his controversial acting spy chief to declassify records related to the 2020 election — hours after a report revealed that a new White House task force was gathering the information from U.S. intelligence agencies.
Trump told reporters he’d informed acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte , “You can declassify whatever you want,” according to Reuters .
When asked if that included records related to the 2020 election he lost to Joe Biden , Trump said, “I told him you could do it, it’s fair. You got to ask him.”
Pulte, who’s also director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, has been accused by Democratic lawmakers of using the agency’s mortgage records to fuel investigations of perceived Trump enemies, including Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., New York Attorney General Letitia James and Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook,
The Office of National Director of Intelligence didn’t immediately return an inquiry from The Independent .
Trump’s remarks came after NBC News reported that the White House had created a new task force that’s gathering intelligence documents to help Trump push new claims of alleged election fraud ahead of the November midterms.
Thousands of pages of records are being collected from the CIA, FBI, Justice Department, National Security Agency and the ODNI, according to Mediaite .
The task force has reportedly been encouraged to limit redactions, regardless of whether it would identify government officials or other individuals.
Evidently the convict doesn’t enjoy being proven a liar.
President Donald Trump grew “livid” over the crowd size at his kickoff event for the Great American State Fair , a weeks-long celebration of America’s 250th birthday on the National Mall, according to a new report. And White House officials now fear a lackluster turnout could overshadow his Fourth of July speech.
The Republican president opened the fair — organized by Freedom 250 — on June 24 with remarks put together after several musical acts dropped out . During his roughly 30-minute address, attended by administration officials and Trump supporters outfitted in MAGA-branded outfits, he claimed America was “back” and “respected by everybody.”
Trump, who spoke after sunset, did not initially know how large the crowd was, CNN reported . But he was later shown an aerial photo that depicted vast stretches of empty fields behind the audience.
After seeing the image, the president became “enraged,” and White House officials removed it from their social media posts, sources told the outlet. Trump later wrote on Truth Social that the crowd had been “packed to the brim” with “at least 45,000 people.”
NBC News reported that, based on their estimates, there were “nowhere near” that many people present.
“The mistake here was not driving attendance,” one unnamed source close to the White House told the outlet. “It was an ‘if you build it, they will come’ mentality that failed.”
Some close to the president are now worried of a repeat situation at Trump’s July 4 extravaganza on the National Mall, which he has billed as the “most unforgettable birthday party any country has ever seen.” Trump has said the evening will feature a keynote “TRUMP RALLY” address, plus fireworks , flyovers and performances by military bands.
The felon just lost a battle in his war on education.
Two federal judges on Tuesday blocked the Trump administration from implementing new restrictions on a student loan forgiveness program that would have barred public service workers from receiving debt relief if their employers are deemed to have a “substantial illegal purpose.”
The rulings, issued by Biden-appointed judges in Massachusetts and Washington, D.C., came just one day before the new eligibility rules were set to take effect.
The Trump administration had sought to add new rules to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program as part of its targeted overhaul of government programs that do not align with the administration’s priorities.
More than 20 states, along with a coalition of nonprofit groups, challenged the rule in a pair of lawsuits, arguing it would allow the Department of Education to target organizations that support causes considered disfavorable to the administration, including transgender healthcare and immigration advocacy.
In Massachusetts, U.S. District Judge Myong Joun struck down the changes, finding the agency lacked legal authority and could potentially violate the First Amendment, as well as threaten to force the administration’s viewpoints on employers.
“The Department cannot create new criminal prohibitions through rulemaking,” Joun wrote in his opinion, adding: “Indeed, the record further demonstrates that the Final Rule has already chilled protected speech.”
U.S. District Judge Amir Ali in Washington, D.C., separately struck down the rule in a case brought on by four nonprofits that advocate for immigration rights, among other issues.
Thanks, Killer Kennedy et al!
As beachgoers flock to water during the busy July Fourth weekend, danger could be lurking in some areas.
Researchers this spring discovered flesh-eating bacteria in water in several coastal locations across New York’s Long Island, and town officials in the Hamptons vacation destination posted an alert about the findings. Eight people in Florida have been infected this year, and Mississippi health officials in June urged people to take precautions.
About 1 in 5 people infected by the bacteria die, sometimes within a day or two of becoming ill, according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention fact sheet . The bacteria, Vibrio vulnificus , can enter open wounds and cause tissue death and systemic sepsis.
“Many people with Vibrio vulnificus infection can get seriously ill and need intensive care or limb amputation,” the CDC says.
The risk of such public threats is mounting because climate change is expanding the territory of certain pathogens, but researchers say there’s another concern. The Trump administration has cut investments in programs and agencies that prevent, track, and respond to health hazards the federal government is now confronting.
I believe I mentioned it early in the original thread but it’s no less true now: the felon is going to get many people dead.
Ms. Carroll tells the convict no extensions.
NEW YORK — President Donald Trump — having failed to convince the Supreme Court to let him fight a verdict holding him responsible for sexual assault — continues to drag his heels in coughing up the $5 million he owes E. Jean Carroll, according to new court filings.
Writing late Tuesday to Manhattan Federal Court Judge Lewis Kaplan, who presided over the 2023 trial, Carroll’s lawyers said Trump had asked them to consent to a grace period while he mulled asking the Supreme Court to reconsider. Carroll’s team said no.
The nation’s highest court unanimously rejected the appeal Monday, with nary a dissent from its Trump-friendly conservative supermajority. The justices did not include a reason for declining the case.
“This is the end of the line,” Carroll’s attorney, Roberta Kaplan, wrote Tuesday, asking the trial court judge to direct that the funds be released. “After four years of litigation across every level of the federal court system, it is time for this case to end.”
“Grift Force One” as fake as the conviceted fraudster. (The bolding is mine.)
Members of Donald Trump’s inner circle are enjoying joyrides aboard his new $400 million Air Force One gifted by the Qatari government—but accidentally exposing its interior’s fake features.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Monica Crowley, the Trump-appointed ambassador and chief of protocol of the United States, and others shared glimpses inside the Boeing 747-8 on Wednesday morning. As luxurious as it is, however, Trump’s tacky taste was still clearly on display.
Fresh off maternity leave, Leavitt shared photos on Instagram of herself boarding the new red, white, and blue Air Force One, which Trump said will become part of his presidential library after his term ends.
She later posted a vlog featuring herself, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung, assistant to the president William Beau Harrison, and White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller en route to North Dakota, where the president is set to deliver a speech at the opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library.
“Look who I have the pleasure of sitting with,” Leavitt said in a video that panned to Cheung and Miller eating breakfast. Behind Cheung sat a framed portrait of the Reflecting Pool—Trump’s latest obsession —bathed in orange light.
Leavitt then turned the camera to Miller, 40, who awkwardly threw up a peace sign. “Stephen, how do you feel about the new Air Force One?” Leavitt asked, to which Miller responded: “It’s majestic, it’s perfect for America 250.”
Behind Miller, bookshelves were lined with pristine yellow books. But upon closer inspection, the books appeared to be fake. Several were simply labeled “library.”
Preach it, Holy Father!
Pope Leo XIV isn’t backing down from his opposition to Donald Trump’s hardline immigration policies.
The Chicago-born pontiff will mark the United States’ 250th anniversary with a quiet trip to Lampedusa, the southernmost point of Italy and a gateway to the West for migrants, The Washington Post reported Wednesday.
His somber visit to a place that thousands of migrants perish trying to reach every year stands in stark contrast to the celebratory scenes expected across the United States. But Vatican officials told the Post that is precisely the point.
“An American pope—the first in history—who on July Fourth, the national holiday of the United States, chooses not to celebrate the birth of a nation and its borders but to stand on the wounded threshold of the Mediterranean,” Rev. Antonio Spadaro, undersecretary of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Culture and Education, told the Post. “This, in itself, is already an unofficial statement.”
“This journey comes at a moment when the United States has made the closing of its doors to migrants a banner, and an American pope knows this all too well,” Spadaro went on. “His choice is not a head-on polemic—Leo does not point fingers—but a counterpoint. He reminds everyone that the dignity God gives to every person comes before the border.”

Turns out the museum has a Teddy Roosevelt hologram and there’s video of Trump talking to it like it’s a real person.
DEAR SWEET JESUS.
He probably believes he can remain president forever as a hologram and enjoy it.
