I think that members of the Trump administration should read the Wikipedia page on the Smoot-Hawley tariff act of 1930. The one they are using now to put tariffs on their trading partners.
By September 1929, Hoover’s administration had received protest notes from 23 trading partners, but the threats of retaliatory actions were ignored. In May 1930, Canada, the most loyal trading partner for the U.S., took action by imposing new tariffs on 16 products which accounted altogether for approximately 30% of U.S. exports to Canada. Canada has confirmed that Trump has misrepresented his claims about negotiating a “better deal” on the Gordie Howe bridge.
In fact the terms remain largely the same, Canada will recover their costs before there is any toll revenue to the US, and then it will ultimately revert to 50% sharing. That’s the same deal originally negotiated.
The only change is that the federal government will get part of that revenue, instead of it all going to the State of Michigan.
So essentially Trump barged into the agreement and took money from Michigan, lol. That’s his “deal”. He won. He got something for himself, image. None of the cult will ever read this - therefore IQ47 remains a “master of the deal.” Also in his mind, the Federal government getting the revenue is the same as him getting the revenue. And the loser? (also required in any of his deals) Michigan.
