Of course you can’t. But he’s also always not been all that bright. And also always been incredibly vain. So it never struck him that his preferred strategy might fail abjectly or what to do when it does.
And since it never has failed him in the past, the worst time it could happen is when we’re all passengers in the car as he’s sitting behind the wheel sundowning in real time
The Ballroom or something resembling the Ballroom will get made since there is a a giant gaping pit that needs to be built into something so it might as well be a ballroom. If it is completed before Trump leaves office it will probably end up needing extreme renovation within the next 5 years to prevent collapse due to shoddy construction.
I suspect that several Ice Breakers will be built. We do actually need them, but the number will be 2-4 rather than 11.
I’m hopeful that there is enough opposition to the Arch among veterans groups that it can be held up in court until 2028, and any preliminary work done can be quietly removed by the next occupant to return it to an unadorned traffic circle.
The only lasting evidence of the Trump Battleship projects will be a marginal increase in DC’s AA meeting attendence, due to a number of Navy designers and project coordinators having 3 years of their lives wasted working on a project that they knew from the start will never go anywhere.
And it bears repeating that President Comacho is a way better President than Trump will ever be.
Have you seen “Don’t Look Up”? It captures some of the vibe of a fictional but Trump-like administration. As I recall it had decent reviews.
Weed by itself will not do this to you. Dude, what the hell was in that weed?
This is a great example of Trump’s undiagnosed and uncontrolled ADHD. Now that this has started to resemble something that takes focus and effort, Trump has lost all interest in it.
Yep. Mike Judge and his writers came up with what they thought was a ridiculously exaggerated, over the top satire of a society that had descended into utter incompetence 500 years from the time they wrote it, and they still couldn’t envision a President and administration as awful and incompetent as what we actually have, a mere 20 years later.
I did see ‘Don’t Look Up’, but I’m afraid I don’t remember much about it, other than it being kind of a broad satire of how we as a society would handle an imminent world-ending event.
The problem is that, for one of the few (possibly only) times in his life he’s up against an opponent who has absolutely no interest in letting him Save Face.
Not quite. They wrote what they thought was a ridiculously exaggerated, over the top satire of the society of the year 2005 but set it 500 years in the future. That’s how satire works. But somehow, what we managed to actually create a mere 20 years later was worse in many ways
Has this been mentioned yet? Heard about it on Rachel Maddow last night. There truly is no end to the madness…
ICE begins outfitting Haitian immigrants with ankle monitors, attorneys say
Haitian immigrants in Ohio with temporary protected status are being called to ICE offices for check-ins after federal officials said their protections had ended.
The Department of Homeland Security has begun summoning Haitian immigrants in Ohio to check-in appointments with federal officers who are outfitting them with ankle monitors, in what appears to be a new enforcement effort after the Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration to end their humanitarian protections.
Guerline Jozef, executive director of the Haitian Bridge Alliance, said about 50 Haitians with temporary protected status in Springfield, Ohio, were called into Immigration and Customs Enforcement offices on Friday. Local attorneys said the immigrants were arrested and then conditionally released with electronic monitoring devices. They were instructed not to travel anywhere outside a 75-mile radius from their homes.

My bold.
The conditions? Wear the ankle monitor or be deported immediately. C’mon WaPo, don’t fudge!
…
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in June that the Trump administration could end temporary protections for about 350,000 Haitians, despite ongoing political instability and gang violence in the Caribbean nation.

My bold.
Okay, I gotta ask: is the ankle monitor manufacturer owned by trump, one of his kids, or one of their friends?
This showed up this morning on Daily Kos. They’ve apparently begun confiscating pages from coloring books
This is the result of an FOIA request that just got answered, but the original story about kids’ letters from the Dilley, Texas facility was back in January and February.
reproductions of some of these letters showed up at an exhibit at Salem’s Town Hall last month, along with people’s response to them. I still don’t think this has gotten enough publicity.
I can see your point @CalMeacham but there’s another factor. Nobody in the NYC real estate biz gave a damn about Donny Two-scoops saving face but he’d lawyer them with lawsuits.until it was cheaper to walk away. That doesn’t work in the national leader “biz.”
It’s worse than that, it’s positively in Iran’s interest to make Donald Trump regret ever having messed with them, otherwise he will bomb them again in six month, a year, a year and a half…
