President Donald Trump has dragged former FBI director James Comey into the long-running saga over the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool , suggesting graffiti at the site was “probably” inspired by his old enemy.
Trump’s Department of Justice has brought felony charges against Comey after he posted a seemingly-innocuous image on Instagram last year of seashells on a beach arranged to spell out the numbers “86 47,” which the president claimed was a coded call for his assassination – to “86,” or kill, the 47th commander-in-chief.
Taking to Truth Social Sunday night, Trump once more went after Comey in the course of lashing out at U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro , who enraged him by dismissing indictments against several people accused of sabotaging his $14.7 million renovation of the pool.
The president posted an extract from court documents in the case made against retired Olympic canoeist David Hearn , citing a National Park Service employee who said he saw the athlete “violently” ripping and tugging at the pool’s coating, implying Pirro had been wrong to let the matter drop.
“Numerous other events took place, including using an acid like material on the just installed grass adjoining the Pool,” Trump continued. “On it were written the letters, ‘86 47,’ a phrase probably gotten from James Comey.”

The Trump administration is refusing to provide key discovery to defense counsel in the first-ever case tried before a specialized court meant to adjudicate immigrants charged with terror-related offenses, according to attorneys for the woman accused.
In a nine-page motion to compel discovery , attorneys for Nazira Haji Zada, 47, allege the U.S. Department of Justice has kept “classified evidence used against” their client under wraps despite her counsel having a security clearance that allows them to view such material.
“Lawful permanent residents, like Ms. Haji Zada, are protected by the United States Constitution,” the discovery motion begins. “These protections extend to immigration proceedings.”
The felon and his flock of fools are treating the courts and people’s rights as one of those games where you have to guess the rules.

But there are so many different types and examples of idiocy with the current mal/misadministration, going with a standard five by five array will give each example roughly a one in a million chance of being in a square. President Donald Trump posted a touched-up photograph of himself from his weekend golf trip, where he appeared much more youthful, instead of sharing the original image.
The 80-year-old president was pictured Sunday at his Bedminster club in New Jersey driving the golf cart alongside retired professional Gary Player, 90, as they attended the LIV Golf New York tournament.
Trump, who often posts about how young he feels for his age, did not share the original photograph on Truth Social but posted a version in which he appeared to have undergone a computer-generated glow-up.
“With the great Gary Player, today, at Bedminster!” the post said . Player, by comparison, appeared almost exactly the same in the computer-generated image as the original.
Some of the president’s critics shared the two images side by side on social media.

But also, in any society where the military is clearly subservient to the civilian government, you could make the argument that the President, Prime Minister, or whoever is in charge, is a legitimate military target. The US “Commander in Chief” thing is mostly unique in that it’s a formal title, and not just a de facto position. But there’s always been a “Gentlemen’s understanding” that such people were off-limits for military strikes. This is distinct from killing an admiral like Yamamoto, who is clearly a military leader first and foremost.
But turning the White House into a military installation gives just enough wiggle room for that gentlemen’s agreement to be ignored.
Trump having the leader of Iran killed does that all on its own. I think Trump may be dimly realizing that yes, people can retaliate in kind.
