Ha! You gave me a smile with that one. Few except old-time Torontonians know this, but I am one, and there was actually a “New Toronto.” It was absorbed into Mississauga back in the 1960s. And “new Canadians” was what we called recent immigrants, back in the day.
And Lake Ontario will always be Lake Ontario. Otherwise, Gordon Lightfoot will have to rewrite “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald,” and he’s dead, so that’s not gonna happen.
How soon before Trump tries to rename Saskatoon “America North,” because he cannot pronounce “Saskatoon”?

Monty:
Are you kidding me?
Is that Harp in the lower right had of that pic?
Well only Trump would have such tiny gilded balls to do that. Disgusting.
It really looks like he wants to rule the world.
Xi ha the expression “What in the hell am I doing here with this bozo.”
They need to be wearing those t-shirts that you see. Trump’s says “Stupid,” and Xi’s says “I’m with Stupid” and has an arrow pointing to his left.
This Letter to the Editor appeared in the San Antonio Express-News today. The name is in the original, but I left it out. I’m sure there are plenty of people who believe this.

Supreme Court, over liberal dissents, lets DHS overhaul immigration database for midterms - The Hill
The Supreme Court cleared the way Friday for the Trump administration to implement its overhauled immigration database, which it says is aimed at combatting voter fraud, in time for November’s elections over the dissent of the liberal justices.
We’re really moving expeditiously farther away from being a “better a thousand guilty men go free than that one innocent man goes to prison” than we ever were.
I dunno. They’ve pardoned a ton of those J6 idiots. And they seem perfectly content to let a thousand guilty men serve in roles from key White House positions all the way down to ICE thugs.
As long as the guilty ones pass the paper bag test and declare eternal loyalty to their bronzered bigot, they’re a-ok according to this administration
Are you saying AI wrote this letter?? I wish. There are PLENTY of trump lovers in this neck of the woods who swallow whole whatever truthies he is excreting. Some of those folks live here at The Home.
Nope.
I’m saying that AI can be a very effective tool to rebut this kind of letter. The letter is mostly bullshit and all Gish Gallop.
Oh, okay.
I wouldn’t bother rebutting it. I just want to scrape it off the bottom of my shoe.

Donald has a MASSIVE subservient streak. What else could account for his saluting that North Korean general?
Other people’s power excites him, and he can’t quite keep himself from displaying his admiration.
His black-hole desperation is also shown in the recently-released taxpayer-paid ad for…himself. Which plays to a soundtrack screaming LOVE ME…LOVE ME…LOVE ME…LOVE ME…LOVE ME…
Damn, that’s cringeworthy.

So exactly when are the textbooks going to change to say we only have one branch of government and the country is a unitary state, not federal?
WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court on Sept. 25 handed the Trump administration a win in its push to increase federal involvement in the midterm elections.
An ideologically divided court allowed state and local election officials to use a revamped immigration database to check the accuracy of state voter rolls, rejecting a ruling that the database risks disenfranchising eligible voters and ignores privacy safeguards.
A majority said in the unsigned opinion that the database is likely lawful and the judge’s order “prevents the Federal Government from using the program it believes is best suited to the task.”
The court’s three liberal justices dissented.
The impact of the ruling is limited for the midterm elections because federal law prohibits election officials from mass purges of their voter rolls this close to an election.
That means the database can be used only for inquiries about individual voters.
Still, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson wrote in her dissent that “the harm caused by burdening or disenfranchising even a few lawful voters outweighs the nonexistent harm that the Government experiences when it is prevented from taking an action that it likely lacks the authority to take.”
I ask again.
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is canceling nearly $1 billion in spending approved by Congress, the White House announced on Friday, using a rare and contested power to axe funding for immigrant services and diversity-focused initiatives.
Trump’s Office of Management and Budget described the funding cut as focused on “the most harmful government spending.”
Most of the cuts are focused on Health and Human Services programs that serve refugees and unaccompanied minors accused of being in the country illegally. The administration says the funds are no longer necessary because illegal border crossings have diminished considerably .
Also targeted for cuts were a Department of Education program for migrant students, a Department of Justice office focused on reducing racial tensions, a business development initiative for minority entrepreneurs, housing counseling services from the Housing and Urban Development Department and a series of grants from the Health and Human Services Department that the administration called “outright harmful and blatantly ideological.”
A White House press release announcing the funding rescissions notes that some of the organizations are led by people who worked in the administration of Democratic President Barack Obama.
Well, there you go. They cannot be allowed to operate if they worked for President Obama. Damn the law and full speed in that proverbial handbasket.
The Pope is soon to be targeted by the felon again.
ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE (AP) — Pope Leo XIV told journalists they were welcome to report on him, as he responded to the Trump administration’s attempt to bar U.S. media from the White House and affirmed the importance of journalists covering public figures.
Leo spoke to reporters Friday on his way to France for a four-day visit . Asked by a CNN reporter about the Trump administration’s attempt to bar CNN and other reporters, Leo said the media was welcome on his plane.
“I am very happy that here, you are all welcome,” he said. Good media coverage is important, he said, and equally important "that we have it all the way around, for everyone”

Donald Trump walked away with little to show for all his extravagant efforts to entertain Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The entire readout of the three-day gathering, including Trump greeting Xi on the tarmac, a lavish welcome ceremony, State Dinner, and tea on Friday morning, was just 19 words.
“President Trump and President Xi discussed the economy, trade, Super Intelligence, and cooperation on numerous issues of shared importance,” a senior U.S. official told the Daily Beast.
The felon thought this was of importance to President Xi. (The bolding is mine.)
President Donald Trump has been branded ‘un-American’ for mocking former President Joe Biden during a state visit by Chinese officials.
The controversial moment, which has even been labeled as “utterly disgusting,” unfolded Thursday, as Trump showed Chinese President Xi Jinping around the White House on the second day of the historic three-day visit.
The pair were walking in the White House colonnade when Trump stopped Xi at the Presidential Walk of Fame - a row of portraits commemorating those who have served as commander-in-chief. It was one of many additions Trump has made to the White House since he returned to office.
Biden is the only president whose portrait is not shown among those of other commanders-in-chief, which were installed as part of Trump’s extensive renovations to the White House. Instead, an autopen takes his place in a reference to Trump’s claim that his predecessor’s administration heavily relied on the machine - a claim Biden denies.
“Let’s be very clear on this one point,” former Democratic Rep. John Delaney wrote on X . “The President mocking a former President in front of the communist leader of China is the most un-American thing an American president has ever done.”
During the moment, Trump showed Xi both portraits from his stints in the White House.
“Trump, and then Trump,” the current president said to the general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, waving to portraits from his first and second administrations.
“And, this is the autopen,” Trump continued, waving to Biden’s portrait as Xi burst out into laughter.
“It’s Biden,” Trump added, explaining the joke and tapping Xi on the arm.
The felon bans CNN from Grift Force One.
The White House has banned CNN reporters from flying with Donald Trump on Air Force One for his upcoming trip to Tennessee , the network says.
Despite a judge’s order restoring CNN’s access to the White House after Trump banned the network , along with MS NOW and Politico, from covering his daily activities, reporters are still being denied entry to certain events.
In the latest roadblock, the White House announced in a Friday night note detailing the president’s schedule that CNN will not be allowed on Air Force One when Trump flies to Knoxville on Saturday for a college football game, the network reported .
CNN is part of a rotating press pool that covers White House events for major TV networks. No other outlet was listed to replace CNN in the memo, according to the network. Without a designated pooler, major networks won’t be able to televise his trip.
Killer Kennedy’s brainworms must’ve made him forget about the aluminum foil.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is calling for more research into the potential health effects of wireless technology, including cell phones, Wi-Fi and 5G.
Kennedy, 72, announced the move on social media on Sept. 21, saying the Trump administration has launched a formal Request for Information (RFI) seeking information about radiofrequency and electromagnetic field emissions and their potential effects on human health.
This is despite the fact that both have been studied for decades and found to be safe. This includes a recent review undertaken by the World Health Organization (WHO), which found that “no adverse health effect has been causally linked with exposure to wireless technologies.”
