The Trump Administration: The Clusterfuck Continues (Part 2)

Circular time, eh; not a cube?

Of course not a cube. Time is a flat circle, after all

Yes. Somehow I dropped that two-letter adjective. My apologies.

And I still have no sympathy whatsoever for them.

The felon finally submitted plans for the Arch of Vanity. Guess what’s missing from those plans.

The felon tells Congress to sit on it and spin.

Now we know why the felon wants Bibi to remain in office.

So what is that nonsense? If I understand the Israeli system correctly, nobody actually runs for prime minister. People run for leader of their party and then if their party can form a majority government in the Knesset, they are invited by the president of Israel to form said government and be prime minister.

What about that last bit of nonsense. Was that some foreshadowing of the felon just quitting the war he started?

War criminal Petey got an officer killed in a silly stunt.

But let’s not forget the important thing here. The football game went on.

Secretary of war crimes was busy over in Tennessee for this idiocy. (Same link)

When did worship of the military at sports events begin? It’s ridiculous. And now it’s gotten to be downright lethal.

The felon wants the borders closed. Sacre bleu! In France.

It’s a torus, I think. Or whatever a torus becomes when a 4th dimension is involved.

“The soldier who was affected.” They can’t say “killed”?

Mostly, post-9/11. The Pentagon realized that flyovers and such could be an effective tool for recruiting and influencing public opinion, especially during the extended military actions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I am so familiar with Monty’s opinions, I looked up “sympothy” thinking it might be a new antonym used by the cool kids. For real.

Seriously. That’s some double plus ungood doublespeak right there.

Military flyovers date earlier than 9/11, but before then they were mostly USAF/USN/USMC aviators who were graduates of the home team who’d do a “training flight” and land locally to attend the second half as honored guests of the school. That’s how it worked at my college in the early-mid 90s anyway.

These days I get the impression it’s a much more deliberate thing by the Pentagon.

It goes back a bit further. In the 90s, the DoD had an advertising deal (of course, not described as an advertising deal) with the NFL to do those big midfield flag displays and have the players out on the field as the anthem played (they were usually in the locker room preparing for the game before then).

But once you open the “Patriotism, Fuck Yeah” can, you can’t close it again. And in the wake of 9/11, the performative aspects did further increase, not just in football but across professional sports.

Did anyone else (Spoiler for The Diplomat Season 4) stand up and applaud during the final minutes of The Diplomat Season 4?

I’m replying to this post in Politics but didn’t want to hijack in that forum.

I was leaning against supporting Newsom but I agree with BobLibDem. “People change” – (do they really?) – but my “Lean” has turned into a firm NO.

I hadn’t really heard of Kimberly Guilfoyle until today, and was rather astounded! I’ve been involved with several women including some with DSM-3 diagnoses, but – just based on the report and video I watched – have trouble thinking of a woman as undesirable and larcenous as Kim the Grifter. That Don Jr. would choose this monster is no surprise, but what’s with the married-to-Newsom coincidence?? Is Kimberly some sort of political groupie?

. . . . . . . . . . . .

Also today I saw a photo of three people seated alone in a helicopter with a caption like “POTUS and his two latest Ivanka-lookalikes” (Diaper-printer girl and the floozy who failed the bar exam). (Grift Girl’s brunette so I guess the “need” for blondes wasn’t inherited by Junior.)

. . . . . . . . . . . .

40% chance it’s just demented babbling, but it’s possibly the “America First” asshole blaming foreign governments for falling demand for bonds. Unfortunately for Mr. Potato Head, the central banks selling U.S. Treasuries are not ripe for military threats: Biggest sellers recently are China (and Taiwan!), Brazil, Japan, Switzerland, Luxembourg, India, Saudi Arabia and UAE.

Out of that list I guess he could invade force Luxembourg at gunpoint to buy US bonds with a fair chance of success. Fair chance being defined as about 50 - 50.
The GOP still does not have the guts to do the right thing, that is, putting him out of office and in jail? Then things will have to get even worse before they get better. Assuming they ever get better, which is not a given.

Well, it is Texas, after all. I’m scratching my head over why an Air Force dude was demonstrating rappelling. Army infantry or Marine recon would make more sense.

Probably PJs:

Rappelling is a huge part of their repertoire.

I’m another in this situation. My sympathies to all!

Discussion here. If you’re interested.

Loon … total.

A Klein bottle, I think?

@ThelmaLou asks why the judges aren’t raining hellfire, brimstone, and CONTEMPT upon the heads of Trump stooges. The Federal court’s enforcers are the US Marshalls who, as @Aspenglow says, work for the Executive branch.

Glenn Kirschner (whose podcasts I highly recommend) discusses exactly this in this 19-minute post (if’n I can get this u-toob link right).

TLDW: He gets to the gist of his thesis at about 13:00 to 16:00. He suggests that the Federal judges are seriously concerned that the Trump administration will tell the judges to go fuck their contempt orders (Kirschner doesn’t genteel-wash his words here), thus neutering the Courts’ only real power over the Executive branch – and quite possibly setting an enduring precedent. He thinks that’s a firebomb the judges are very carefully tiptoeing around.

Kirschner is a former DOJ-DC prosecutor with 20-some years experience (and was a military JAG before that), so he knows these judges think
