Trump is sounding more and more like Grandpa Simpson these days.
I don’t know why I clicked on that - I already knew exactly what scene it was going to be.

On the predominantly right-wing/MAGA message board that I look in on, they are convinced that the French riots are due to Muslims. No doubt because Trump believes they are Muslims, and is calling for Macron to close France’s borders to stop Muslims coming in. It never occurs to them that the riots are actually due to young French people protesting the policies that lead to a higher cost of living for all French people. To Trumpists, it’s always Muslims causing trouble.
And they refer to “Englandistan” in the same post. Muslims everywhere. London, Birmingham, Manchester, they’re all lost to Muslims. Soon, the UK will be under Sharia law. Because that’s what Muslims do—spread their religion, and kill those that refuse to convert. 
Speaking only for myself, all the Muslims I’ve ever known here in Canada came here to get away from what they see as an oppressive religion. In other words, they’re not looking to spread Islam; no, rather, they want to get away from it and live in a free country where religion doesn’t matter. The fact that not all Muslims necessarily agree with the teachings of Mohammed and the Koran—it never crosses Trumpists’ minds.
So sayeth the second baseman on our beer league softball team some years ago. He was Muslim, and he told me the above after he’d had a few beers. At the same time, my Muslim assistant at the office loved when we went out for lunch, because she could have a glass of wine. Two of the nicest people I’ve ever met, and neither was interested in converting others, rioting, causing disturbances, killing in the name of Islam. They were Muslim because they were born into Islam; that didn’t necessarily mean that they adhered to the teachings of Mohammad as adults.
It’s always an other with Trumpists, isn’t it? They and their ilk are never in the wrong; it’s another who is. The Democrats. Or the Democratic Socialists. Or the Canadians. Or Europeans. Or the Islamists. And if Trumpists say that the French riots are due to Islam, then dammitall, they’re due to Islam! No, Trumpists are never wrong. “Trump said it, I believe it, that settles it.” Of course, the fact that Trump is suffering from dementia, and issues all kinds of ridiculous statements, never crosses their minds, so in thrall are they to their Dear Leader. It really is a cult.
Some French citizens protesting against French government policies that increase the cost of living, which is really the case? Not possible. Gotta be Islamists, Muslims, intent on converting everybody they cannot kill. Even if there’s not a Muslim within miles of the place.
I would hang that on my wall. At least for a while, till I got sick of looking at his stupid face. The horrified expression would be totally worth it for a while.

There’s a Halal Chinese Buffet restaurant in the northern Detroit suburbs. It’s next to an Islamic market. I always chuckle when I drive past it. Someone liked Chinese food so thought he’d start his own restaurant so he could eat guilt-free. Very entreprenurial!
