The Trump Administration: The Clusterfuck Continues (Part 2)

That’s a great image! Can you link to the higher-resolution version again? I’m not seeing it at the link on Imgur anymore.

Yes. There was a Chinese Islamic restaurant (that was its name – Chinese Islamic) in the San Gabriel Valley that was one of my favorite Chinese restaurants ever. Their sesame onion bread was awesome.

Genghis Khan’s court had a lot of Muslim scholars, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Islam spread in the East.

They’re still there. The Uighurs, I think, are somewhat known in the west, and they’re definitely a predominantly Muslim ethnic minority in China, among others. Unsurprisingly, different food cultures spread as well

I had to take down the image and put it back up, so would you please try again? If that doesn’t work, PM me.

Or create a pictute of your own-- it’s easy and loads of fun. This is exactly, word-for-word what I asked ChatGPT:

Can you make me a full color picture of the Witch’s Flying Monkeys from the Wizard of Oz carrying Donald Trump (in his signature blue suit and red tie) through dark and stormy skies off to the Witch’s castle up on a craggy mountaintop. Make it dramatic and scary, please. Show trump in utter terror.

Well, none of us can. “Trump accounts” are intended for those under 18. The free money ($1,000 seed money from the government) is only for children born between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2028. Parents and legal guardians can contribute up to $5,000 per year on behalf of the child. The money is invested in broad index funds.

Once they turn 18, the kid can withdraw the money for certain specific purposes (education, buying a first home, starting a business, etc.) or they can roll it into a traditional IRA.

It’s basically a savings and investment account for children, with a bit of starter money thrown in.

As Trump-backed programs go, there are a lot worse out there.

I mean, there’s a restaurant in Tel Aviv called “Mushi Mushi Kosher Sushi”, so why not Halal?

[ Mr. Rodgers voice ]
That’s a fun name to say.

And, as a reporter pointed out today, this program is smaller and less potentially rewarding than one that has already existed for 163 years.

There are Halal Chinese restaurants all over the world.

The Uyghurs are a Turkic people in China. They are also Muslim. Uyghur food is mostly like Chinese food, except anything that uses pork will have mutton or lamb instead.

I had the barbecue sheep ribs at a Uyghur restaurant in Shenzen China once. They were very good.

Not to mention Trump’s other super-power: The MAGA Multitudes who reliably come in with the death threats.

Harry Litman (whose podcasts I also recommend) has been following the Golf Course Desecration hearing in judge Ana Reyes’s courtroom – where there was a volcanic day-long hearing yesterday.

According to Litman, the judge is now being inundated with death threats, right on schedule.

I, too, love Litman. A very accomplished and knowledgeable fellow re the law.

I agree, the death threat bullshit is purely disgusting. It takes real courage these days to be dedicated to the rule of law in this country.

It’s going to be a hell of a job to fix it, too. If it can be fixed.

I think one of the biggest challenges facing Dems in the next several years is effectively communicating just how fucked up the whole government structure is and that it’s going to take longer than just one presidential term to fix it. IMHO, it’s going to take at least a generation. And that’s probably overly optimistic on the timeline. Which means it likely can’t be fixed. Many Americans have no patience or stomach to do hard things that require sacrifice.

Dear Penthouse Forum; I never thought something like this would happen to me…

There! Are! Seven! Lights!

You know, that’s a good question

How will that work? The felon has your answer. Maybe.

Retired general criticizes the felon; no UCMJ charges announced yet.

What? No UCMJ charges against him announced by Hegseth? Why, all that does is prove the charges against Senator Kelly were nothing but an attempt to force a sitting senator do the convict-in-the-oval’s bidding.

Incorrect. They have no patience or stomach to do hard things themselves that require sacrifice. They’re more than happy to sacrifice an immigrant or few.

Salep/Sahlab is even nicer.

Speaking from the UK, every time one of these assertions get reported it is a source of much hilarity here.

My favorite response on the matter was when Birmingham was being declared a “no-go area” due to “Sharia Law”, and someone quipped, “Yeah, in Birmingham we all follow the Kerrang!” (Birmingham being the home of Black Sabbath et alia).

Agreed! Sadly it’s the same noisy group of ignorant idiots who come out with the same thing over and over again. I work in Birmingham (and live not that far away), walking around the city centre you’d never get the impression that it was a no-go area for non-Muslims. Sure, there are areas of the wider city where cultural communities have built up but that’s the same for the Asian and Caribbean population of the city. You can find all manner of religions on the same street but they all seem to get along without any bother (until the local “patriots” turn up and start shouting the odds).

The Muslim Council of Britain runs a “Visit My Mosque” day every year where any mosque can participate, they have an open day together so anyone can go and visit. I’ve been to a couple of the bigger mosques in the Birmingham area, but have yet to visit the mosque at the end of my street. Every time, people have been incredibly friendly and welcoming, eager to meet people who just want to know a bit more about them and their faith.
