Speaking from the UK,
I spent a while in London, living in the Tower Hamlets area - Bromley-by-Bow (not actually in a council flat!)
The area I lived in was populated with work-shy, fat, pink English yobbos living off the dole with a breakfast can of Tennent’s Super Strong. The blocks just east were populated by (mostly) Somali and Eritrean Muslims making a living from hard work and enterpreneurship.
Guess which part of town was more pleasant to walk around? I did almost all my meagre shopping in one of them!
ETA - we’re straying a little far from Trump’s clusterfuck here.
Heck, there was a kosher Chinese Restaurant near the place I worked in Newton, MA. They has Mogen Davids worked into the ironwork fence. Now sadly gone. Fill in your own joke about Jewish people eating Chinese food here.

I, perhaps naively, believe that if an actual problem arose that required sacrifice and the case were presented, the American people would mostly rally to the cause. The bullshit that Trump claims is a crisis, on the other hand, appeals only to baser natures of bigots and fools.

The recent pandemic has revealed this to be otherwise.
Some Americans would rally to the cause. But not nearly enough.

Yep, the response to the pandemic, and the results of the most recent presidential election demonstrate to me what the American public will do.
Brooklyn’s Boerum Hill neighborhood once had a halal Chinese restaurant called No Pork Long Line.

If I recall correctly, out of China’s fifty plus recognized ethnic minorities, ten of them are traditionally Muslim. (Don’t forget the state is anti-religion.) The Hui group are of special note because they are essentially Han people but Muslims.
Why do Jewish people like Chinese food so much?
The same reason everyone else does!
I don’t know if it’s a good thing or not but this seems to be consistent with history
We have reports of Americans not really taking public health advice during the Spanish Flu. And Samuel Pepys’ diary noted people out in pubs and carousing during the plague when officials also encouraged people not to gather so spread could be contained.
But in the aftermath of 9/11 people really did rally. Unfortunately, that unity was misused and people have become wary of false flags
So, I do think people would rally and sacrifice for some cause. But others, like diseases, remain a tough sell. We like to think we’re better educated and generally better people than we were in the past, but we really haven’t changed much at all.
It’s possible. But given that Donald has (reportedly) been doing his “Husted’s Ass” routine at EVERY rally, it may simply be a case of his loving material that pleases the crowd.
It’s like when he used to talk about how he and Kim Jong Un “fell in love.” He—and his crowds----knew that this elicited a what on earth is wrong with him? reaction from The Libruls. It’s the same thing with the Ass routine: it makes sane people wonder what on earth is wrong with him?
And MAGA loves feeling they’re part of that dynamic. Putting one over on the Despised Others!!! What could be more fun!!!

Not EVERY rally, but three times in the last eight days.
With the upbringing he had and his narcissism, I’m not sure Trump actually understands or experiences love like neurotypical people do.

“If I can’t kick CNN out, I’ll kick everyone out!”
President Trump has discussed the possibility of moving the White House press corps to another building, according to two people close to the president — a move that could escalate Mr. Trump’s clashes with news organizations over coverage and access.
Outside allies of the president have pushed the idea in recent weeks, including former Trump strategist Steve Bannon, one source told CBS News.
No final decisions have been made, according to both sources.
The discussions were first reported by The New York Times .
White House communications director Steven Cheung said in a statement: “America is rightly distrustful of the fake news media because they fabricate stories based off lies and sources who are not even privy to any type of information. … All options remain on the table, and we will make an announcement when appropriate.”
When approrpriate? When might that be? Did I miss something new regarding Epstine files, the war in Iran? Some new fraud that came to light? Or did the Ouija board get dragged out of the toy box again?
A con has to do what a con has to do, apparently.
Trump’s efforts to woo voters with offers of cash gained attention in September, when he explicitly promised a Dallas crowd that his Administration would dole out a $5,000 dividend to every American adult if the GOP maintains its majorities in Congress. But with about 240 million adult citizens, the proposal would cost around $1.2 trillion—a gargantuan financial undertaking that even some in his own party questioned how the U.S. could afford. Democrats, meanwhile, called the dividend proposal a vote-buying scheme.
The same month, the Administration promised to refund more than 950,000 Obamacare enrollees in 30 states $500 each for “overcharges” collected by the Biden Administration. Earlier this month, it promised a one-time $90 payment per person to help more than 20 million enrollees pay for their Medicare premiums. Some voters have already reported receiving these payments.
While mentions of these handouts have earned cheers at Trump’s supporter-packed rallies, it is unclear if they will translate to any additional earned votes. Voter turnout in the U.S. is historically lower during midterm and off-year elections, and Trump, in a bid to boost the GOP’s chances, has repeatedly called on his supporters to imagine that he is on the ballot.
It’s also unclear if voters are sold on Trump’s cash-based solutions. For example, a Wall Street Journal poll in September found that 64% of respondents thought Trump’s proposed $5,000 checks were a “bad idea right now.” And even if Republicans won the election, an Economist/YouGov poll from September found that most voters are skeptical that Trump would deliver—and they have good reason to be.
Trump has made many big promises, but he hasn’t always kept them.
He has repeatedly floated the idea of giving a $2,000 stimulus check or tax rebate to most Americans, supposedly funded by revenue from the global tariffs he’s imposed throughout his second term. But since making that promise in November 2025, as of this month, such dividends have yet to materialize. TIME has reached out to the White House for comment.
Don’t hold your breath, TIME.
Junior Dictator Vance tells his party to quit whining about tacky pubby campaign stunts.
SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, OH – Vice President JD Vance told Republicans to “stop whining” about a controversial ad by the Vivek Ramaswamy campaign featuring the mother of his Democratic opponent in the race for Ohio governor.
“Politics is a tough business,” Vance said during a press conference Oct. 21 at the Cincinnati FBI field office. “I’m a little bit disgusted when I see Republicans who are whining more about that advertisement” than who will win the race for Ohio governor.
When asked about the ad, Vance wouldn’t say whether the ad was appropriate.
“Whether the ad was appropriate or not is not really my concern,” he said. “What is my concern is who’s going to govern the next generation of American government. Who is going to win the Senate race in the state of Ohio, who is going to win the governor’s race in the state of Ohio.”
The most amazing thing about that is there are actually pubbies who find something tacky.
Putin’s a humanitarian and Russia is barely involved in the war in Iran.
President Donald Trump on Wednesday seconded his roving peace envoy’s fawning description of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin as a “humanitarian” and praised the autocratic leader for having released an American his government had taken hostage after Trump waived bipartisan sanctions meant to hinder Moscow’s war against Ukraine.
Earlier in the day, Witkoff, a real estate developer with no experience in diplomacy who Trump has nonetheless tasked with international negotiations normally entrusted to the secretary of state, praised Putin and credited him with saying nice things about Trump during a meeting that was recorded and released on Russian state media.
“You talk so much about my president, President Trump, being a humanitarian. You are a humanitarian also, sir, and I salute that, I commend you, and I thank you again,” Witkoff said.
Asked about the exchange and pressed on whether he agreed with Witkoff, Trump offered a qualified “yes” to the query.
“Well, I guess you could say for that particular purpose, for the purpose of allowing a man who was thinking he was going to be in prison for life out. But you know, I I wouldn’t say anything one way or the other,” he said.

The president then falsely claimed that Russia has “not gotten involved with Iran,” ignoring the fact that Iran and Russia have a longstanding relationship that has seen both governments assist each other in their respective efforts to undermine Western-aligned governments — and the United States itself.
I honestly did not know it’s Opposite Day . I really need to get a better calendar.
Peter Peter Pumpkin Worshiper is fixing to spend nine million dollars to honor traitors.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth directed the Army to restore a Confederate memorial at Arlington National Cemetery, a project expected to cost taxpayers approximately $9 million, cemetery officials confirmed to Task & Purpose.
“The current estimated cost of comprehensive conservation, replacement of the internal support structure and installing the Moses Ezekiel sculpture in Arlington National Cemetery is approximately $9 million in Operation and Maintenance Army (OMA) funds,” an Arlington National Cemetery spokesperson said.
Kyle Bibby, co-founder and co-CEO of the Black Veterans Project, criticized the Pentagon’s decision to spend public money restoring a monument to the Confederacy.
“Public land and public money should not memorialize men who took up arms against the United States,” Bibby, a former Marine Corps infantry officer, told Task & Purpose.
Petey wants to use death rays at the border.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has approved the testing of a controversial new technology for use at the U.S.-Mexico border.
In a memo signed by Hegseth in September and obtained by CNN on Wednesday, Oct. 21, the Pentagon granted the Department of Homeland Security permission to begin testing a military-grade heat ray known as the “Active Denial System.”
The heat ray is a nonlethal weapon that can shoot an invisible beam of electromagnetic waves a little more than half a mile away, according to the U.S. military. The waves agitate the water molecules in the epidermis to around 130 degrees Fahrenheit, according to a 2008 Military Trader article. While not actually burning the skin, the sensation is similar to that of a hot light bulb pressed against the skin. The device can penetrate thick clothing, although not walls.

(Trump’s ex-border commander who oversaw Minnesota raids is now selling deportation-themed liquor )
President Donald Trump’s former Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino — who oversaw the deadly raids in Minnesota — has turned to selling deportation-themed whiskey after being forced out of the job.
Bovino, one of the most prominent figures associated with Trump’s hard-line immigration agenda, was forced out of his role as Border Patrol commander-at-large in January after federal agents shot and killed two American citizens in Minnesota.
Now retired, the 56-year-old is selling “Commander’s Choice” bourbon featuring a depiction of himself in uniform along with the phrases “deport them all” and “America first.” Each bottle costs $99 online.
How did I miss this insanity? They’re just babies, and African babies at that, so what’s the problem?
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s push to test dangerous anti-vaccine conspiracy theories on African babies appears to be in doubt after U.S.-backed researchers in Guinea-Bissau had their offices raided by government officials.
Kennedy has been a staunch supporter of and has allocated federal funds for a controversial experiment that Dutch scientists have been trying to conduct, denying thousands of babies in Guinea-Bissau doses of the hepatitis B vaccine during their first six weeks after birth. The study has garnered comparisons to the racist Tuskegee experiment , and the controversy around this proposed test has put a spotlight on Kennedy’s history of promoting racist pseudoscience , including a claim that Black people and white people shouldn’t be on the same vaccine schedules.
Last week, officials in Guinea-Bissau challenged claims that the experiment had been approved, and now it appears to have been stopped in its tracks.
Networks warned against reporting polls the felon doesn’t like.
WASHINGTON, Oct 21 (Reuters) - The chairman of the Federal Communications Commission said on Wednesday that US broadcast networks could violate their regulatory obligations by airing “entirely fake polls and suppression polls.”
FCC Chair Brendan Carr said on X that ahead of the November midterm congressional elections there had been a significant surge in such polls “designed to do nothing more than interfere with the regular functioning of ]the electoral process and alter the normal patterns of voter turnout and enthusiasm.”
He added that the FCC took these issues seriously and suggested they could violate its news distortion rules.
Carr has faced pressure from President Donald Trump to crack down on US broadcasters and journalists. He did not name any specific polls in his statement that he believed were fake.
And that’s all I can stomach to wade through for today. I had about twenty more queued up.

The President’s Brain Is Missing: I don’t have a clever name for this one edition
Remember when Evander Holyfield boxed a man who weighed 30 lbs?
“How would you rate his ass, Mr. President?”

The war isn’t over because I don’t want it to be
We can change the name of the strait because I got a call from a ballerina who was also a president

Even in Trump’s fantasies his wife isn’t sexually satisfied by him
And the man didn’t even call you 'sir? Bullshit

It’s a little known fact that Holyfield was the scourge of the Shire.
Kosher Chinese food has been a thing for a long time - a “Jewish American Christmas” is taking the family out to a movie and then going to a Chinese restaurant.
Apparently sushi has become very popular with the Orthodox in New York City.
^ Yep. The Chinese restaurants seem very happy to accommodate dietary restrictions.
