Yes, but threatening a billionaire and threatening a Somali resident of Minneapolis aren’t quite the same thing. One has more resources for getting rid of the threat (and threatener).
Donald’s confusion continues: here he can’t seem to get clear who JD Vance opposed in 2024 and who Donald opposed in 2024—both are “men,” apparently (37 second video at the link) –
That was my first reaction: that Donald was off-handedly dissing Vance.
But on further listens I think he genuinely forgot he wasn’t facing Joe Biden in 2024—“I had a man [Biden] and he [Vance] had a man [Walz]. They [Biden and Walz] were both incompetent.”
If you listen on you hear him realize it was Harris, not Biden, that he’d faced in 2024–Trump starts saying “she.”
(Not that I’d mind if Donald started expressing contempt for Vance on any regular basis; that could only be good for the nation.)
He repeatedly said during his campaign rallies last year that he picked Vance because nobody would possibly want him to be president, so there’s no way he could get impeached.
He stole that from Nixon, who said the same thing about Spiro Agnew.
Rememberig things from 50 years ago better than what happened yesterday is typical for Alzheimer’s disease.
Because to MAGA he doesn’t. They think when he talks about it he is trolling the libs. They think it’s hilarious. I keep an eye on an old co-workers Facebook feed and it’s amazing how he dismisses anything stupid Trump does as just getting one over on the libs. And all his MAGA friends laugh. Did you know he is just pretending to fall asleep because it drives the lamestream media crazy? They do not live in the real world and everyone around Trump knows it.
Not compared to a President. Billionaire or homeless person, both can be squashed as easily.
Don’t confuse privilege with actual power. The wealthy don’t get away with the things they do because the government can’t stop them, but because it doesn’t care. If a government does decide to care it can squash the wealthiest individual like a bug. Just ask all the Russian oligarchs who “fell out of windows” how well their money protected them.
That is certainly true. But I was thinking more of the power that American billionaires have over the members of Congress they own. Possibly they own a few Cabinet members, too.
If they really decided that Donald was bad for business, they do have recourse. (Will they make that decision? Probably a lot depends on what Vance is willing to promise, and how much they believe him.)
His defense is a load of rubbish. Okay, so he has the authority to declassify information but he didn’t bother to do that before, or even after, he shared classified information. And he was using his private phone to do that.
So the targets were not the boats, not the drugs, but the people. Thanks for clearing that up.
We have one of his flacks reciting the mantra about ability to declassify information, another thanking him for controlling the weather, yet another for giving her joy in denying food to children, and finally one who is excusing his murder of people at sea. This is barely inches away from People’s Temple level cultism.
