The Turtle & Bunny MMP

Near the one of the high schools that think I attended, there was an old Nike Missile site. Part of it someone turned into a home. If I had known they were actually for sale and had the cash --------------------

They did remove the missiles though. :frowning:

Ever see the photos of a silo converted to underground housing? Talk about monster-in-law proof!

It is tempting to turn a silo into a home site, especially if I’m feeling pessimistic about world affairs. Plus it would be nice and cool. I like cool.

Do you mean the app…or the doggie telegraph?

You do know that the Soviet answer to the Titan II propellants was fondly known as “Satan’s Breath”. They make starting the rocket easy–if chemical A meets chemical B, Boom results. They did have the nasty habit of eating metal, however.

The other rocket of the time, the Atlas, had a skin so thin that the rocket had to be kept inflated like a balloon or it would crumble. WD-40 came from the Atlas program, it was used to coat the rocket to prevent rust.
“Skybird, this is Dropkick with a Red Dash Alpha message in TWO parts…”

About 20 years ago, I lived in a teeny tiny town just a couple of miles from the nuclear plant that never was. TVA had built it in the eighties, but never brought it online for various reasons. Last I heard, it was being converted to a private prison. Given the economy up on the Cumberland Plateau, that would likely be the biggest employer in the area.

Well the truck decided to have an electrical gremlin, and drain the battery. Hopefully I can get the station wagon running Friday. And it was still uncomfortably hot.

Sounds like my friends and family. No wonder we get along.

Sherman burned down all the laudnromats?:dubious:

Pfft. SAC tried to nuke Goldsboro in 1961. (and the leftovers make Cousin Andy’s leftovers look tame)

Moooommmm!, for shame. I still have the FairyChatMonster and the coffee mugs on display.

Alien, I wonder if any launch codes include “purple monkey dishwasher”

So when you come here next summer, not only are we going to ‘my’ brewpub, but now we gotta go see an Evil Genius, too!

Better add an extra day, or two, to the trip.

Well, usually I come in Monday ,and leave the next Monday. That gives me 2 nights to pregame before Pub Crawl.

Where and when?

Doggioooo this too shall pass re vehicle woes.

Hmmmm – with the number of Mumpers around you, I smell a road trip!
Toe-cramp is fading so I’m back to bed.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.

This year is L.A. 8/7-8/14. Next year is Valley Forge Pa 8/6-8/13.

I saw this headline on FB today
Intelligence Agencies Say North Korean Missile Could Reach U.S. in a Year

I thought daaaaaaaayum… that is one slow missile.

I dreamed **FCD **bought a lime green Ford Galaxie sedan, and I drove it to work (tho my work in the dream didn’t look at all like any place I ever worked…) When I came out at the end of the day, the car was gone, so I went looking for the coworker we’d bought it from. She said her husband took the car back because he changed his mind about us having it. I wanted to call the police, but somehow I never got around to it. At some point in the dream, I was thinking - why would we buy another car? We don’t have space for it. Then I woke up.

I seem to recall that 40-some years ago, I dated a guy who had a Galaxie. I think. I know it was a big ol’ tank of a car. But I haven’t thought of him in eons, let alone his car, so I don’t know where the dream came from.

Cool morning, but tomorrow is supposed to be really hot and humid again. I’m definitely ready for autumn. Except for the dark part - I can tell already that it’s a good bit darker when I let the dog out. Alas.

Happy Wednesday, anyway!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 89 and afternoon tstorms. We shall see. I “slept in” this mornin’. Didn’t get outta bed until 6:15!

I shall go to the Pubic Sto’ this mornin’. ‘Tis Hump Day, i.e. geezer discount day. I get an extra ten percent off of even stuff that’s on sale already. So I’ll be there with all the other geezers to get my discount. We shall dine at the country [del]hog trough[/del] buffet place tonight. The real reason for this is OYKW has a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for the fried chikin, which I will admit, is pretty good. Hopefully they will have fried poke chops as well. YUM!

The missile silos around here all contained Nikes. The little base around one of 'em is now a place called The Anchorage and is a place for alcoholic/drug addicted men to come get sober. I think one got turned into a home at one time but haven’t heard anything about that in a while so I don’t know if it’s still a home or not.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then purtification must commence before my foray to the Pubic Sto. This afternoon I shall journey up to the nursin’ home to check in on Miss Becky and Mr. Frank cause I kinda feel like I should see how they’re doin’. I guess that’s enough stuff to keep me outta trouble.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Was wondering when a turtle got into my house!

To answer the OP and other comments, I’ve used my camping lanterns a few times when the power has gone out.

I would like to use my hurricane lamps, but I have a stupid cat with a very plumy tail who has set his tail on fire from one of the hurricane lamps. It’s a good thing he’s adorable, because not a lot is going on in the brain pan.

Back from geezer day at the Pubic Sto’. Not a lot of peoples in there so I was able to get in, get what I needed/wanted and check out easy. I know where everything is in my sto’ so I can go up and down just the aisle I need. Everything is put away and I can now chillax until I head up to large and in charge Dawson, Jawja.

Awake after a fashion and thinking about adulting. The thought isn’t growing very well but I feel the need for a bagel.

Sounds like certain Mumpers…well, except for the adorable part.

I second this. blurf
