We had lunch at Red Robin, grabbing one of the last chances to get 20% off our tab (me bein’ a vet and all…) then we ran to Lowe’s to get a sheet of plywood that **FCD **needs, and I got some more granite polish and some Murphy’s oil soap spray to clean the cabinets. The bathrooms have been put back together and I need to clean the critters’ water fountain.
I forgot about doing laundry - so it’ll get done tomorrow. Or later tonight, depending on how I feel. It’s been raining on and off, but we’re promised sun tomorrow. With luck, I can mow the weeds in the ditch without slipping on wet grass. But that’s for tomorrow. After I clean the fountain, I think it’s time to read.
Did my pre-season soccer shopping today…the AYSO resumes about 7 August and will run into November. Had a 20% coupon from Dick’s Sporting Goods, so went there and acquired Soccer Balls and goalie gloves. Acquired training cones on-line via the AYSO store, so I think I’m ready for the 8-9 year olds I’ll be coaching (already have a loud whistle).
Rain has gone away and day is bright and sunny. THink I will go take advantage of that…
My favorite cake is German Chocolate with the yummy frosting with coconut and pecans, although honorable mention goes to chocolate mayonnaise cake, and I once had a slice of Sacher Torte at Papa Haydens that was wonderful. “It was the most beautiful chocolate cake…”
Have to make a batch of lemongrass soap today, as one of my longtime customers emailed last night and wants about $80.00 worth. Nothing else really planned for today.
20% off my bill at Red Robin sounds like a good idea. We may do that.
Thanks again for all the bday wishes. I have been feted and festivated. Everyone got fed and then left. I think I have had all the excitatement I can take for one day. After all I am elderly.
**Bumba **- are you a Red Royalty member? Because that’s how you get the discount, and I think it’s only good till the end of this month.
Since we had a big lunch, supper will be grab whatever, whenever. Higgs has been fed. **FCD **is almost done working. I see an evening of sluggage ahead.
I worked. I stopped at kroger on the way home, and gassed up the Volvo. Now I can see what kinda millage I can squeeze out. Making brats with onions and peppers for dinner, then going out to O’Malley’s to see a band.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWAMPY!!! WetOne, my favorite cake is any cake in front of me.
Looks like the rain is done. We’re already in the 60s, and it could drop to the upper 50s tonight - that would be nice. Then 70s tomorrow and sunny.
But now, it’s time for bed. I’ll read till my eyes fail to focus, which shouldn’t take too long.
Note to Butters: I’ve made 19 minis so far! They’re not as good looking as the bigger wigs because the yarn is too short to lay properly. But it’s Halloween and wild wigs are all part of the experience!
I got all of my errands done today. I even braved the wilds of Staples on tax free weekend. I also found out that toothpaste for dogs is roughly 5 times the price of the stuff I use. Nelson had better like chicken flavor.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and well, dark, cause the sun ain’t up yet, with a predicted high of 90 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. We shall deheathenate with the Luteruns this mornin’ just cause and then go for an early N.O.L. at the local good seafood place. If’n one signs up for it, and we have done so, the place sends you a birthday coupon for up to half off what you order. The coupon is good beginnin’ on one’s bday and up to ten days after. I shall use my coupon today. After that, who knows what the rest of the day will bring.
Thanks again, y’all for the bday wishes. Yestiddy was a good day hangin’ with friends at da cave durin’ the afternoon. I have a little bit of cake left, really enough for two slices so OYKW and I shall finish it off sometime today. Plus, there’s ice cream! YAY!
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. At some point purtification for Luterun style deheathenization must also commence.
It’s SIXTY DEGREES this morning!!! On July 30!!! **FCD **actually asked me to throw an afghan over him before I left the bedroom this morning! I know it’s just a brief respite from the heat, but I’m loving it!
Today, I need to do laundry because I totally forgot about it most of yesterday. I also need to run to the convenience center as both trash cans are full to the brim. **FCD **asked me yesterday if I’d look at a design he’s working on - he needs to change the configuration of how the batteries are installed and he wants fresh eyes on it. And I need to empty the dishwasher, and I should run the mower over the ditch. The day has barely begun and I’m already exhausted!
Getting rather fed up of the weather (I’m English- what did you expect?). Heavy shower, little bit of sun, drizzle, ooh looks like it’s clearing up, oh, no, sudden downpour…
Every time I think I’ll go out and do something, it starts chucking it down again. Fine if it’s indoor and something I can drive to, but it’s supposed to be the middle of summer, dammit; there’s loads of outdoor stuff that should be happening, and loads of stuff I could be doing!
Our truck is white again!!! Huzzah!!! I hadn’t planned to wash it, but when we took the garbage to the convenience center, one of the bags leaked. I told **FCD **I’d hose out the bed, and that evolved into washing the truck - the outside, at least. It’s not a great job, but it’s less disgusting than it was, so I count it as a win.
Shortly, I’ll get a couple of loads of laundry done, and after I empty the dishwasher, I’m going to run it a couple of times with bleach in it - the vinegar rinse didn’t seem to do much.
And first load of laundry is washing, dishwasher has been emptied and bleached, and after I run the rinse cycle one more time, I’ll load the dirties. I also mixed up a batch of rotisserie rub and put it in a shaker - that’ll be easier than trying to sprinkle it from a spoon.
