Friends, Just a bump up and FYI. I could not read the entire thread and I don’t know if this has been mentioned lately but the DVD of the MST3K Movie is now again available.
I’m buying it now before the pull it for some reason!
OK…
In the opening credits sequence for series ten, does anyone know what the opposing signs say (the ones ‘opposite’ the signs that read ‘TIME’ and ‘SPACE’, right at the beginning? I’ve tried doing slow mo, stills, etc…too fuzzy to read them…
Thanks in Advance!

Wow, this takes me back - I don’t know off the top of my head, but maybe I can take a look in the next couple of days..
I cannot be absolutely certain, but it appears to me that the opposing signs also read ‘TIME’ and ‘SPACE.’
Just looked. Definitely, “Time” “Space”.
Who did Joel have a disagreement with that caused him to leave the show? He mentions it in the above linked interview.
It wasn’t Mike Nelson, was it? They appear together later when Joel returns to the SoL briefly.
Apparently it was a dispute with Jim Mallon over creative control, according to an interview Joel did with the Onion A.V. Club.
I see. Looks like it was over the movie, for some reason. Did Joel not want to make a movie? Mike obviously did…since they did.
The Onion AV Club interview with Joel, if anyone’s interested.
This thread has inspired me to watch Zombie Nightmare tonight.
I watched it today and remembered that I had seen it when I was younger. It’s an excellent episode.
If this show comes back i hope they do:
Paul Blart Mall Cop
Super Mario Bros
The Good Son
Meet the Fockers
Yours Mine and Ours (2005 version)
Godzilla (1998 version)
The Razor’s Edge
Swing Vote
The Happening
The Cat in the Hat
Master of Disguise
The Waterboy
Old Dogs
Bewitched
Alone in the Dark
The Wicker Man (2006 version)
Waterworld
The Mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
Inspector Gadget
The Pagemaster
Jaws 3
Zeus and Roxanne
The Number 23
Congo
I think the chance of a return of MST3K is slightly south of zero, but good news - there’s RiffTrax, which allows them to tackle some of the movies you mentioned.
A sample of their take on the Wickerman (2006).
EDIT: Here’s the sample.
Maybe we need The Ultimate Rifftrax Thread. But I have really only seen the shorts and the live shows. So it would have to be someone else’s baby.
But mst3k is way better than rifftrax and cinematic titanic
A matter of opinion (I’ve never experienced CT)…but good Rifftrax is easily as good as good MST3K, IMHO. And since they’re not limited to bad movies, the movies themselves are watchable.
Well, I did like having the little silhouettes, but mst3k and rifftrax have about equal quality riffing. It’s a lot of the same people…who would be on the show if it came back.
Rifftrax is Joel’s project and CT is Mike’s, right?
