The Walking Dead; 4.15 "Us" (open spoilers)

Re: Ellen’s theory…COME ON.(That’s to the writers not Ellen) There has to be food EVERYWHERE. The Earth is devoid of people, and your main threat are shambling bipeds. You guys enjoy ‘dinner’. Me and my baseball bat are going to bicycle down to that house I saw a couple miles back.

That was my first thought, when the lady said come and get something to eat. Hope you like Soylent Green!!

Maybe I’m a pessimist though.

I have a bad feeling about Beth’s fate. They spent a lot of time setting her up as the eternal optimist who believes good still exists. To me, that means she is probably being brutalized somewhere and will turn up traumatized with a completely different outlook. It will then be up to Darryl, the pessimist/realist to bring her back around.

Was Terminus lady wearing Beth’s sweater?

Doesn’t look it. Beth’s sweater was a solid beige, while Terminyar’s had dark highlights and arrow patterns.

I think worrying about how or whether they kill the Walkers is besides the point. The Walkers are background, like the weather. They are not central to the story. The story is about the survivors and how they interact with each other.

I didn’t notice it, but just watched Talking Dead, and Terminus Lady is Tasha Yar, from STtNG. Interesting play, since Tasha was security. Doubt that is meaningful, but still interesting.

I don’t think Terminus will be a place with good people either. My guess is that Beth was kidnapped by people from Terminus and, as Cat Whisperer, said used for breeding.

I don’t have a lot of faith in the writers to make the Terminus story interesting. :frowning:

The dread is built right into the name “terminus” — it’s the end of the line for you now, buddy boy.

And so I’m now hearing the name “Terminus” is the voice of the Daleks from Doctor Who. TERMINUS! EXTERMINATE!

I like the characters, as well. Eugene and Rosita bickering tickled my funny bone!

Okay, so I’ll admit that I only kinda watch it when it’s on so I’m not 100% about the details … but didn’t we first hear that Glen and the others drove for something like 2-3 hours from the original scatter point before he woke up? If so, how are they anywhere near where Maggie would be in this episode? Did they backtrack in the car back to where they started? I don’t remember them doing that at all, but it seems strange that they could drive for three hours and in a couple of episodes Glen could just walk back.

The “scientist” plotline is bothering me though. I mean, it’s so obvious that this guy is bullshitting that it’s impossible to believe that any of the characters would buy his story without significantly more evidence than “it’s classified”. There’s a zombie apocalypse. Nothing is classified anymore. Maybe instead of protecting the one guy who can save the world, we share that knowledge with others just in case?

Totally agreed with every point. This is the most important thing in the history of mankind; tell everyone you meet. Write it on the side of buildings, for heaven’s sake. Don’t keep all the information in one squishy, out-of-shape nerd.

Having Eugene’s story be complete bullshit does seem awfully obvious. Abraham and Rosita aren’t stupid - what are we missing here?

‘they want to believe’ - its faith/mission - something to focus on.

That and who wouldnt follow the guy that thinks this might have been what caused the fall of the dinosaurs and wants to see zombie dino’s fighting it out?

What kind of gamer are you, anwyay?

If they are truly US military, they are working under orders.

Haven’t they seen The Abyss? Geez. All military objectives go out the window when you’re faced with a Russian Water Tentacle.

Let’s say you’re that squishy out-of-shape nerd. The second you share that information, you are expendable. The only thing ensuring that the big army guy is protecting you is that secrecy of knowledge.

Whether it’s BS or not - Eugene is smart. He knows he’s not surviving on his own.

Georgia, heck pretty much all of southeast US, is covered with abandoned textile mills and furniture plants. Can’t swing a zombie cat without hitting one.

I don’t have any problem with his motivation, it’s the motivation of the people around him who don’t question his obvious bullshit story, and have made it their life mission to protect him despite absolutely no evidence that he is telling the truth, and ample evidence that he’s full of crap. “It’s classified.” should not be an acceptable answer.

As I said, if they are truly military, they are acting under orders. That’s probably the only structure they have to hold on to.

Am I the only one who is thinking Jonestown Death Cult? That place was empty, and not just empty as in the people are out foraging. Empty as if no one lives there except for that woman.
