The Walking Dead; 7.14 "The Other Side" (open spoilers)

[QUOTE=AMC]
The Saviors visit the Hilltop unexpectedly, surprising everyone, with plans of taking more than supplies.

It’s the antepenultimate episode of the season tonight. Christian Serratos and Steven Ogg are on Talking Dead.

Well, that was certainly an episode where a lot of stuff almost happened.

OK, I’m not being entirely fair, but the only suspense re: Rosita and Sasha’s plan was precisely how it was going to fail miserably. OTOH, I do enjoy the ongoing byplay between Simon and Gregory. The gin vs. tequila bit was gold.

Random comment: I imagine others have mentioned this previously, but I’m struck by how the regular cast is now so large and scattered that it seems like less than half the group can be shoehorned into any given installment. Until tonight’s ep, for example, I had almost forgot about Enid’s existence.

Also Jesus is gay.

I liked the way they handled Jesus’ sexual orientation. Just casually mentioned during a conversation. No big reveal/dramatic scene. Just talking.

John was most beloved of the apostles, or so they say…

I’m with Señor Kabong-- a lot of stuff almost happened in this episode. Too bad nothing really did. Sasha really deserves to die now after one too many stupid moves.

Well we didn’t see her die so her dumbass is probably captured and will be used at some point to get the other dumbasses to do something dumbassy.

I’m only hoping for one thing. That Sasha doesn’t die like a chump. Clearly, she’s not going to succeed in killing Negan, but I’m hope we get some Carol-esque epicness.

And Eugene reveals his true colours (or did he?). I think he did. I don’t think he has some grand scheme to bring down Negan from within. I think he likes it there. It is comfortable, he’s safe, he’s valued.

Loved the Daryl/Maggie conversation. I liked this episode - Gregory is going to have to be dealt with…soon.

I liked this episode. Yes it was a table setting episode but it had things I liked:

  1. It confirmed what I have been saying all along that Eugene is not running some kind of long con. He’s a weak guy who likes safety.

  2. It made Hilltop start to feel like a real community instead of a half dozen people and two buildings.

  3. It showed how shitty living under the thumb of the Saviors would be in a way that was nonviolent. Yeah they kill people but they also drain everything out of the places they rule.

  4. It made Rosita less annoying

Liked it. It was better than a lot of episodes this season. And it occurs to me that this season has had a lot of fluff.

Also, shouldn’t snipers wait more than like 15 minutes before going all frontal assault?

I’m pretty sure the change in plans had to do with Eugene-negan broadcasting that he wanted all nearby buildings searched for more walkers.

When I first started watching TWD I thought of it as a nighttime soap with zombies. The last few seasons have disenchanted me with that notion because there have been so many filler episodes and episodes that left us with nothing to actually talk about. Very little in the romance department, nothing really controversial and the losing of liked characters has left me with very little investment in the show. To the point I no longer wait for the show to start with snacks in hand: I watch it the next day minus the commercials.

and watch for their target rather than sit facing each other having long conversations.

It looked to me that she had a “good shot”.

I’m kind of proud of myself for staying awake through that one.

I would love to see Sasha blow Negan’s brains out! But that is very unlikely to happen. I hope that she at least takes out a good number of Saviors before she gets snuffed.

She already said something about they shouldn’t be captured because they would give away information, so I recon that she will be sure she is whacked one way or the other.

I’m not sure if this counts as a spoiler but the actress has another gig on the new Star Trek as well so I think that makes her days numbered (but being on two shows is not impossible so who knows?).

How much of TWD is shot on location?

So at the end… Darryl, or Dwight? I’m betting Dwight.

Darryl or Dwight what?

It’s shot in Georgia, both in studios there and on location.
