The Walking Dead; 7.15 "Something They Need" (open spoilers)

A group of Alexandrians embarks on a journey; one member of the group must make a heartbreaking decision.

Next week is the season finale. Lauren Cohan and Alanna Masterson are on Talking Dead.

The invasion of Oceanside was kinda hokey, but otherwise not a bad episode. Did the Oceanside Walkers all have barnacles on their faces?

I was really hoping to see Sasha take a few of the Saviors out. Very disappointed!

Beach Ball sized lady nuts!

That one got a snerk out of me. Neegan may be over the top - but he’s got the best lines.

Not a fan of this episode. It fell back into one of the worst aspects of this show where we are supposed to just know Rick is right and good because he is chock full of Rickness. Even when he does dumb, crazy or bad things.

There’s almost no difference in how Rick treated Oceanside this week and how the Saviors treated Hilltop last week but we’re supposed to hate one and like the other because one of them is full of Rickitude. Sorry I don’t buy it. Rick was a thug and a bully to Oceanside and the fact that they just turned on their own at the drop of a hat was lazy story telling.

Beach ball sized lady nuts!

I loved this episode - the tension is building for the finale next week. Gregory looks to be heading to the Sanctuary to warn Simon of Maggie’s actions, so I’m wondering if he’ll arrive at the same time as our heroes when they attack?

Looking forward to the finale!

Will it be a cliffhanger?

I’m pretty much expecting the finale to be all about all the groups coming together and getting ready to fight, and the last shot is going to be Rick & Negan squaring off with no resolution until next season.
(And yeah, Rick taking all the guns from Oceanside is different how from the Saviors taking the guns from Alexandria?)

The preview for next week with all the groups coming together was nice and gets me pumped for the finale. The biggest draw for me was seeing King Zeke and his tiger striding up the street to kick some ass.

Season finale, please be good!

Rick’s group didn’t kill any Oceansiders. Seems like a pretty important difference to me.

FWIW, they also said they’d return all the guns when the fight was over. I don’t think the Saviors would do anything like that…

This episode really highlighted the differences between Negan and Rick. Where Neegan is very anti-rapey, I’m pretty sure Dwight is going to have to suck someone’s dick, given the crazy look in Rick’s eyes and how he said “get on your knees”.

Well they didn’t murder anyone. But the fact that they were able to take the camp without anyone getting seriously injured (pistol whipping an old lady in the back of the head notwithstanding) was lazy storytelling. It’s super fortunate for Rick’s team that Oceanside had all their guns conveniently locked up, didn’t post any sentries and didn’t try anything stupid under the mistaken impression that Rick and his crew might be there to murder everyone.

You’d think that in the zompocalypse, anyone physically capable of carrying a sidearm would do so, just in case of an accidental walker/raider/baddie/scumbag encounter, yes, knives are quieter and don’t draw additional Zacks, but why not carry both?

In the ZA, ammunition might not be that easy to find. (Incidentally, when the sailor zombies came, I had to tell the people on TV ‘Stop wasting ammo!’ Seriously, there’s no reason to go full-auto on zombies.) Sure, I’d like to carry a firearm in the situation; but I think a machete would be a better choice for most situations.

Who are we talking about? because the saviors took all the Hilltop guns.

That bugged me, too. Those zombies were squishy and could barely move… and there really weren’t that many of them. A few guys with pistols could’ve easily taken them all out. Hell, a few guys with pikes could’ve done it.

Yeah, but full auto looks cooler on TV. If they used any brain power, this whole show would have taken a different direction.

I’ve noted a dearth of pole weapons.

Of course. Still bugs me though. (I’ve mentioned it a few times in other threads.)

Rick didn’t murder anyone because they let him take the guns. The Saviors didn’t murder anyone in Hilltop because they let them take their doctor. Either way it was a shake down.
