The Walking Dead; 7.15 "Something They Need" (open spoilers)

A spear would be an excellent anti-zombie weapon. Everyone in the TWD universe should be carrying a spear and at least one knife.

Oceanside. That female community Tara discovered after she was separated from Redshirt Heath earlier this season.

Agreed, a three shot burst, and especially full auto is wasteful, esp. when all that’s needed is one shot to the brain

It was a subtle touch, and only us gun types would catch it, but it looks like Eric (Aaron’s partner) is carrying either a Ruger Deerstalker .44 mag carbine (doubtful as it’s very rare and .44 mag ammo is probably hard to find now) or more likely a Ruger 10/22 (which is visually very similar) the butt stock of the basic 10/22 carbine is visually distinctive and has a wraparound butt plate that has one end secured in a cutout on the top of the stock

Yes, I spent some time trying to figure out what model 10/22 it was…

I guess this means that the .22 is a viable anti-walker cartridge in the zompocalypse, so why not try to rig up a bunch of suppressed 10/22’s for zombie elimination, suppressed .22LR would likely not attract more zombies, it’s about as noisy as Daryl’s crossbow, and would allow them to conserve their center fire ammo for use on Negan and the Saviors

Why all the custom cool looking things for the Ruger 10/22 and not for other .22 semi-auto carbines, like the Marlin?

Something at Oceanside struck me as odd. During the walker attack, did anyone besides me see the Oceanside kid kick a walker in the crotch, then stab it in the head when it went down?

Without delving too far off topic, the 10/22 is a very modular design, parts are simple and robust

Broken down to components, you have
Barrel
Reciever
Trigger group
Bolt
Stock
Magazine

Rachel is the kid’s name. What’s weird about that scene? We saw Rachel killing zombies in the first Oceanside episode.

Yes, but the Saviours murdered a couple of Rick’s people as their way of saying hello, and a few more to keep the lesson fresh. The Saviours murder prisoners to make a point. That’s their signature move. Rick and co would have killed people if they had to, but they didn’t want that to happen. That is an important difference.

Let’s say there are two possible outcomes: I rob you but leave you unharmed, or I rob you and kill you. Which would you prefer?

It struck me as odd that, in a universe where people lop off their own limbs with no “phantom limb pain,” (or apparent risk of infection, etc), and walkers not showing any awareness with regard to pain regarding their own bodies, a kick to the crotch would be a valid technique when fighting them.

YMMY, obviously.

And thanks for telling me her name. I couldn’t remember it for the life of me.

I thought it looked strange too. I’m assuming, i.e. fanwanking, that the kick didn’t actually hurt the walker but just caused it to stumble.

I didn’t see it as a kick to the crotch, I saw it as her kicking the zombie’s leg so it stumbled. However, it may have been meant as a crotch kick, so your criticism is valid.

I’ve actually had someone try repeatedly to kick me in the crotch; it was laughably easy to dodge out of the way and after about the third or fourth try I got sick of dodging and punched out my attacker. So I don’t rate it very highly as an effective tactic.

The’re not exactly the same. I grant that but the difference makes little difference to Oceanside.

And the saviors did murder plenty of Hilltop members when they first met, they explain this when they first show up. They always kill someone to show they are serious, and then more if they resist. When Daryl Abraham and uh Sasha? meet them on the road they also tell them they are going to kill one of them. They haven’t killed any Hilltop lately because they are completely cowed.

Rick and Co. murdered the defenseless Terminus people in that church.

…the defenseless Terminus people that tried to butcher and eat them. And who did butcher and eat at least one of their friends.

Yeah, I’m going to call that justified execution.

Raise your hand if Eugene giving Sasha the poison pill was a surprise. I should have fast forwarded that it was so lame.

Can Zombie virus be transmitted by mosquito bite?

Then why wasn’t the killing of Abraham and Glenn justified? Rick and co killed a whole garrison of Saviors.

Production time constraints? It’s early yet. Sasha was last seen trying to con Eugene into giving her a knife, gun, or shard of glass, supposedly to end her own life (wink, wink). I’m sure (hoping?) she has a few more spectacular walker dispatches left in her. And more than a few Saviours, also.

Rick and the Alexandrians raided and murdered about 75 Saviors in there sleep at the outpost they found after they met the Hilltop group.

Darryl, Sasha, and Abraham killed about a dozen Savior with a stinger missile when they were stopped on the road and told they would have to give up their truck.

Negan killed two of the Alexandrians as retribution for their actions.

Yeah Negan is an asshole and leads with intimidation, but Rick’s not much better. Remember Rick telling Spencer he’d knock his teeth down his throat if he found he was hoarding food again. Not much difference.

The big difference is perspective. We’ve known Rick and his group since the beginning, we’ve seen what they’ve gone through, we’re on their team. We don’t know Negan’s back story, we haven’t been with him the whole way.

It was just his leg, and he was infected already. :stuck_out_tongue:
