I sent mine out Monday the 5th and have yet to hear word… I hope it’s not circling the moon or something equally horrible.
A quick quiet knock on my front door announced the arrival of the white elephant from HockeyMonkey! Yay! Lots of great stuff too…
a cosmetics bag…going to my sister!
frisbees and a beach ball…those are mine for poolside fun!
a hootie and the blowfish poncho…mine too! I’ll keep it in the car for emergencies.
a can koozie…cans to be koozied!
various toys and action figures…will be added to the menagerie here.
keychains…ditto!
handcrafted wooden egg bunnies…my MIL collects bunnies. I can see them heading her way.
mugs and bottles…always good to have.
silver necklace…to sis again.
spongebob glitter pen…already claimed by my brother. He likes spongebob stuff.
magnets…fridge!
man bites dog card game…I sense something to bring to a Gettydope!
AV cable…going in my cable stuff box. You never know.
Tweety Bird air freshener…car! bedroom! The possibilities are endless with that one.
candle holder of questionable taste…going on an endtable somewhere for now.
and…a new bottle of BACON SALT!
. You really didn’t have to, but thank you! We love the stuff!
The target was acquired at my Mom’s house this past weekend. A trip has been made to Radio Shack for a few minor do-dads. Functional testing will take place this evening, and my elephant will be sent East tomorrow, with either the primary component or an alternate, depending on whether functional testing is passed or failed.
Muahahaha…
No elephant has arrived yet at my house, in Vandergrift, PA, but I don’t feel to badly, as I haven’t sent out my elephant. hehehe…
Possibly tomorrow, if I can get out the door early enough before my job interview, but if not, then Wednesday for sure. I had to keep looking for stuff, as I felt I hadn’t picked anything good enough for “display”. I have found it, and it rocks.
So to speak.
I received it on Saturday, thanks!
Let’s see, I have to remember, because the minions grabbed the loot and left pretty quick.
A really cool Fossil tin manual date clock-retro, and my favorite item. Similar to those old wind up toy tin cars, boats.
A couple of huge paper clips.
Post it notes.
Some Burt’s Bees stuff.
Mardi Gras beads. ( You slut!)
A Dick Francis book-haven’t read him in forever, and I like the little horsies.
A balsa model airplane that flew very well for about 20 flights, then the Great Dane promptly ate it. Damn dog.
A reindeer antenna ball, that is gracing the hillbilly truck as I write.
I think I have forgotten a couple of items, but my damn camera batteries went dead, and by the time I they were recharged, all the items were gone.
Thanks so much, LVgeogeek! I am thinking the Fossil Date clock is my display item?
Yep, the calendar thingy is the display item…
The reindeer antenna ball is Jack in the Box fast food holiday swag- you don’t have those there in MN, right?
The Mardi Gras beads are from a casino in downtown Las Vegas. ![]()

Whew, everything made it intact then? The Bacon Salt is the apology for the hideousness of the Elephant. Plus I love the stuff and endeavor to spread the Bacon Gospel. I hope the Hootie poncho isn’t dry rotted or anything. I got it the year Musical Chairs came out…was that 1996?

Little did you know you were missionizing the converted…he saw the Bacon Salt and the only thing I heard for the next 30 seconds was a really high-pitched “Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!”
Picture, if you will, the above-described sound coming out of a 6’2", 280ish-pound man…
Tristan, I don’t feel so bad now, because my elephant hasn’t gone out either. It is finally packed, though, and WILL go in the mail tomorrow, and I hope my elephantee will find it worth the wait.
I received from** TheMerchandise**…
A pig lighter that shoots flames out its nose when you push on his hat. Unfortunately, **TheM **says he doesn’t know how to refill it, but I am determined to solve the mystery, since I work for an ag school and will be the envy of everyone if I have a flame-shooting pig in my office.
A clock that sounds foghorns on the hour. I have experienced a couple of other “sounds on the hour” clocks, and I’m sure this one is every bit as euphonious as they.
An Elizabeth: The Golden Age lapel pin with a most unflattering photo of Cate Blanchett
A stunning gold crown – with a matching wand! It’s good to be the queen.
A CD of** TheM ** DJ-ing a podcast
A highlighter with a fuzzy head. That one’s going to the office for sure.
A beaded purse. Very pretty! Would make a great evening bag, if I ever went anywhere…
Chicken notecard – What’s not to like?
NYU “Commencement” ball cap. I’m intrigued by this. Did this cap have a commencement-related purpose? (TheM…funny thing is, I HAVE a BFA! Didn’t spend no $120K for it, though.)
Great stuff, TheM! Thanks!
I have a matching twin to that bait box. But the bottom of it wasn’t damp when I sent it. That should have added to the ambiance. Remind me to thank your UPS guy – perhaps with a white elephant of his own?
The shoes (brass) are a trinket my dad got from India when he was in the merchant marines in th 60’s. the shoe came off some Chinese doll the got while traveling to China (again with the merchant marines in the 60’s).
The worms? I actually found them in the box when I opened it. How fortuitous, no?
FWIW, my bait box was significantly dirtier when I opened it. But it’s a really good bait box, due to the material, it will keep the lil buggers alive much longer than in a coffee can. Cabela’s used to sell them, they recommend using damp peat as the filler to carry your wormies.
Thanks for the info on the stuff. I knew what the bait box was before even getting it out of the box. My Grandpa used to have a worm farm, god only knows why, but he had a bunch of these bait boxes. I don’t think I’ve seen one of these in 15 years! I thought the shoes certainly looked unique, they’re even cooler now knowing their history. I haven’t figured out where to display them yet, but they will defintely like their new home. Thanks again for everything!

You are E-V-I-L! No more of it for you!
Everything looks great Hockey Monkey! Even without the bacony goodness, definitely no suckage here! ![]()
It mostly works! w00t! And it shall be on the way first thing in the morning.
Do I ever get to know who sent me my heaping box of squirrelly goodness?
Yep, that’s your elephant. I’m sorry you have to go out of your way to get him. I should have specified no signature required. Sometimes FedEx will re-deliver to another location if you call them up and ask.
You scared the crap out of me!
FedEx re-attempted delivery, something they said they wouldn’t do and when I got home just now there was a box in front of my door.
Who could this be from? Can’t be my elephant because FedEx is holding it. I’ll just look see where it is from…AAAAAAHHHHHH It is from a fairly famous LAW FIRM!!! A LAW FRIM HAS FEDEXED A BOX TO ME! This can’t be good.
Then I noticed the note saying this was the second deliery.
So I open the box to find…
Some BS 'Guided Imagery" CD that will cure my headaches. Ummm I have Advil. Thanks.
Two ‘placemats’ with photos of the earth. one all day time the other all night.
Two books. Renaissance Faire adn The Steerswoman. Hummm.. Someone likes medival fantasy, or not.
And an And. or actually an &. An aluminum ampersand. Pretty cool
and something in bubble wrap. I open it up and find a really cool carved figure of a ‘Asian’ hero battling a dragon. It’s really cool. Some minor damge but I’ll fix that.
That’s really cool. I love it.
I’m glad you had fun opening everything. Sorry it took so long to get to you - I went with Parcel Post because of the weight.
I use my Coldwater Creek sachets in the vacuum cleaner. Just put some of it into the vacuum bag and it makes the whole room smell nice.
All of those charms came from a toy store I used to own. I hope someone will make something pretty from them!
The Chex Mix (peanut lovers) is a family favorite. I hope your husband liked it.
The pennies are for wishing wells and fountains. 50 wishes for you!
I’m glad you liked the bear socks so much! They have been lounging around, waiting for someone to love them. Sorry I didn’t have a matching pair for your husband. I’m sure he’s jealous…
I wear a LiveStrong bracelet most of the time, and had a spare.
cheers,
PurpleHaze

Oh, it’s ok there wasn’t a pair for hubby. He hates them! He’s tried to take them away from me to give to the kitties.
Speaking of the kitties, I had to hide the pillows from them.
ups said my elephant arrived last thursday and that they left it on the porch. if you haven’t gotten your elephant check your porch!! if you live in indiana…
From the exotic wilds of Indiana, a white elephant has trundled through the gauntlet of our corporate mail room, and arrived at my desk.
<snip>
As for the last two items, they will undoubtedly be enjoyed by our land-lord’s 9 yo daughter, but I have to ask if the giver happened to have followed my recent gender-presentation adventures in the Pit? ![]()
Nope … just a whole bunch of stuff I’ve got a ton of. Don’t you just love the squirrel salt-n-pepper shakers?! (That’s my mom’s idea of home decor, for you!)

It arrived just in time for me to dash out the door to an appointment, and I haven’t taken the time to sit down and thank you for it.
I didn’t find detailed list, nor did I make one, but I can recall …
-three stuffed toys - a Canadian Mountie-looking Scooby Doo, a pastel sea horse, and a rabbit, all of which my 18-month-old promptly absconded with
-many picture frames and photo albums
-a lovely straw Etienne Aigner purse with a leather handle, containing various and sundry small items, including a three-strand necklace (also stolen by my son), goose salt-n-pepper shakers, a Happy Feet penguin, and a small black tassel
-a purse-sized black umbrella
-a Star Wars Collectable digital watch
-four woven paper plate holders (the boy loves to stack these)
-a cream and blue stoneware-patterned Pyrex bowl
I forgot a couple. So many things came out of the box, there was an instant risk of elephant bits migrating into the default surface clutter that seems to follow me everywhere…
There was also a small locket, packaged and labeled as a “prayer box”, complete with “Jesus is Lord” on the packaging.
Do with it as you wish. I sure wasn’t going to keep it!
Squeeeeeee! I got my Elephant this morning!

Dang, I got interrupted and hit send too soon.
Thanks ThisSpaceForRent! for all the cool items, and some that are very deserving of their White Elephant status.
