Oh, yeah, him. Third, then. Though Anub only has like one line in the game, IIRC.
I never played, but from what I’ve heard I thought he was a major character–with you the whole way through the Nerubian kingdom and all that. (Which is why people a lot of people were disappointed when he was just a five-man boss at the start of Wrath, before he was revealed as the end boss of ToC.)
He just kind of shows up and introduces himself as soon as you get to Northrend (controlling Arthas), then basically doesn’t say anything for the rest of the game. He might have had a bit of exposition during one of the annoying dungeon bits, where the game stops being a pretty good RTS game and pretends to be a mediocre RPG instead.
And in any case, he wasn’t much of a character (even by the standards of WCIII characters). There’s not a lot of emoting a giant stag beetle can do.
All I know is I used to hate Azjol-Nerub when levelling, because it was so difficult at-level. Now I love it because it takes, like ten minutes tops.
Skammer: Right there with you. I even get excited about OK, because you can blow by the optional bosses and get an extra 20g out of the daily.
Is it possible to pick up the OK daily after entering the dungeon (without leaving and going to the NPC outside the portal), or do you just grab it and hold it in your quest log until OK pops up as a random?
You can’t get the daily inside the instance (stupid, really–I can’t imagine why they haven’t added an NPC for it). I keep it in my logs–or, more accurately, Joe picks it up and then shares it with everyone else, including me, and I keep that in my logs. ![]()
Hell, just make the watcher’s skull a quest object. You’re always able to loot it regardless of whether or not you have the daily anyway.
The raid is setup for Monday! Let’s not lose any of the momentum we’ve got going on ToC! Lightbird is now geared enough for ToC10 according to wow-heroes.com (it’s in the yellow) And I still need a couple of enchants from a guildie before I’m good.
Of course he’s nowhere as geared as Reins or Muz (both have ToC10 in the green), so if they are good to go they should remain as our tanks. (Plus Rottingbird has upgraded a couple pieces too, so his dps should improve.)
I’m in for tonight. It’s probably too much to ask that anyone still has to do the EoE weekly quest too?
Rottingbird hit me up for some enchants last night, so it’s a good time to remind anyone if you need any enchants (or spellthreads) there’s no charge for guildies and sometimes I can give you a price break on mats, depending on what they are.
I may or may not be in. Kinda wiped out.
Well, we didn’t have enough for a full raid, so the four of us who stayed did a couple of random heroics with a PUG DPS.
They went pretty well. I tried tanking with Kalathan, and (mostly) managed to hold aggro. Couldn’t figure out why I was running out of mana so quickly during the first random (Utgarde Keep), then realized that I didn’t have Blessing of Sanctuary up. D’oh!
I also realized after we’d finished both runs, that my level 245 Tanking Trinket that I’d picked up a couple of weeks earlier was sitting happily in one of my bags - which wasn’t smart either.
I really need to decide if I’m going to try and get serious about tanking; if so, I need to start collecting Triumph emblems to acquire a set of tanking gear.
Sorry I wasn’t around last night, I logged in to discover I had all of 8 minutes of playtime left on my account. Thought I was good until today, but oh well I’ll be picked up another card shortly so I’ll be there next week I hope.

Yes don’t forget Sanctuary and also keep Divine Plea up as much as you possibly can. Prot pallies have a talent that automatically refreshes Divine Plea when you hit something in melee and since you’ll always be hitting something it’s always up. It’ll fall off occasionally but it has a short cooldown. Don’t be afraid to sit and drink if you need too, better to wait two seconds for mana than to run in and not be able to hold aggro.
I wouldn’t really worry about missing a tanking trinket or a piece of tank gear as long as you’re defense capped for heroics. My paladin had been tanking with a green DPS trinket until yesterday when Lavanthor’s Talisman dropped and I don’t think it made any difference. Reins always tanks with a DPS axe using a Berserking enchant and my two DPS trinkets for heroics, then again he overgears heroics by a large margin.
We were all overgeared for the heroics - Kal is being modest; I couldn’t tell he was a newbie tank at all. At the beginning of UK I tried as hard as I could to steal aggro from him and was never able to hold it long enough to get hit. Then I gave up on that strategy and decided to heal the whole instance (and the next one, OK) only using Holy Nova – we were a bit overgeared
(except for the Lock who did OK with us).
Yes, but I’m not defense-capped, that’s the point
. All my emblems (and honor) have been going towards DPS gear (as you can see on the WoW Armory here), since that’s been my primary focus running heroics so far.
I do have my tanking spec equipped with the Divine Plea refresh talent, which is good. It’s just that ‘down time’ between fights when Divine Plea is still on cooldown that can be frustrating. ![]()
Heck, I remember Kal challenging me on the DPS recounts…holding aggro and sometimes leading the damage is a win-win for him…but I felt I was lacking in my dept. I worried about jumping in too soon so he could get and hold on to aggro, but I found myself picking the wrong order of attacks that didn’t help in the overall picture of things…but our group’s “OP-ness” (snicker) kind of covered that up.
So how are we looking for tonight? Are enough folks back from vacation to put together a 10-man? If not I may look for a group to do the weekly (the furnace guy in Ulduar).
I’m up for it, as either Muz or Rumpole.
sure…I haven’t done the weekly either.
I can’t check from work anymore (authenticator is not actually on my keychain) but last checked it was 4 accepteds and Shin is tentative. So yeah, if everyone shows we can try to see what’s up, and if not, go for a weekly PuG or chain some more heroics.
