The WoW "Burning Dog Legion" (Cairne/Horde) 10-man Raid List.

Wooohoooo, we just 9-manned the faction champs, Twin Val’kyr, and Anub—all without a single death.

Special thanks to all the experienced WoW Dopers who gave us the strategy notes on the faction champs.

Weirdly, as a tank, those last 2 fights after the champs were dead easy; I just stood there doing my rotation, getting hit, and blowing cooldowns on those rare occasions when my life dropped towards the 20% mark. No moving, nothing to taunt or position once you’ve established your usual position, no nothing really. (Shin gave me Anubarak and took the adds on that fight; I gather she had to position the adds on top of ice floes or something like that).

It was funny, on all three fights I was so busy looking at health bars and keeping track of the tank (I’m not usually a tank healer) that I was surprised when the fights suddenly ended. Funny that it was so much easier this time, with one fewer person.

I remember that from when I healed faction champs. Flash heal/shield/flashheal/PoM/penance/flashheal… (repeat for several minutes) … what, that’s it?

Well damn. Nice job, guys.

I once though Yeti’s dps was amazing, but after seeing Rasz’s I need a new adjective. He was pulling something like 8k+. And I was happy with my 3.5k with Rottingbird. I was #4 in the raid I think. Definite contributor!

And what’s up with those drops?! Our best dps is hunter and he gets a couple drops that are downgrades, and all the healing plate and no holy-pally in sight (Sorry Shin!)

So for next Monday, ToC again? I know, with the drops coming against our group, it seems like we should move on. But I know some of us can still use a 232 as an upgrade.
I wouldn’t mind sticking with ToC for a few more tries. But also happy to get into ICC if that’s what we choose.

Thanks to everyone for showing up!

ToC again seems good; I’d like to see if we can do the whole thing in one swoop. Also, I’d like to get Muzu the achieve, since he sat out the faction champs.

Well Rasz also has a gearscore over 6k, so that’s a contributing factor  And Kahmu’s health was >50k so that made it easier for the heals. But everyone did great.

ETA: I wouldn’t mind doing ToC again all the way through. After that we can decide if we want to tackle ToGC (does anyone do that?) or ICC. I actually think at least the first 4-6 bosses of ICC would not be too bad for us, but let’s get what we can from ToC first.

Incidentally, I think one reason we were successful this time around is that practically every ICC-ready character in the guild was there - Kene, Yeti, Rasz, Kahmu all score icc 25/rs 25 on wow heroes, I think, and Muzu and Rahul aren’t far behind. I think our group comp last time we tried was a bit heavier on less-geared players.

I think at least another ToC runthrough would be a good idea. I’m reasonably sure we’ve all got the NRB mechanics down now, but since they gave us such a hard time each week prior, one more go at them wouldn’t hurt, IMO. Even better if we manage to take ToC in a single pass without a death/wipe. Plus a number of our players already run ICC each week so I’m not sure if they’ll be locked out or no (I assume most of them have alts they could run with us).

Well, during the faction champs, we healers did take the most damage. That counts for something, right?

We’d have an easier time getting a few PuG DPS if we ran ICC, in case we don’t get 10 to show up again, I think.

Grats on the kills guys. To answer the question, no, pretty much nobody does ToGC10 anymore. There are very few items in there that are still viable compared to ICC stuff. ToC25 still gets run, because the trinkets are still extremely good.

The first 6 bosses in ICC are all easier than ToGC, IMO, especially with the ICC buff. However, you may run into problems with saved characters (I know I couldn’t bring Darland, and I’d be surprised if Reins could come either). On the other hand, it’s definitely much easier to PuG than ToC and especially ToGC. And you’d start getting Ashen Verdict rep for the folks that don’t have it yet (instant ring upgrades!), and earning Frost Emblems for that tasty T10 gear.

Another option is Ruby Sanctum, but it’s not a trivial fight (nor is the trash easy… definitely want to read up on that).

That’s pretty much what I was thinking. Even before ICC came out, I don’t recall people eager to do ToGC. And I wouldn’t want to tackle RS until at least some of us have pugged it with other groups – I know I haven’t even seen the inside of it yet.

I’d vote for doing ToC one or two more times and then heading to ICC.

Hey guys, a few questions about the guild. I have seen the posts regarding Monday night raids but how active is the guild during the rest of the week (because Monday is, of course, the only night I am not available :). I have pretty much just been playing around and leveling toons since my last guild disbanded right before Ulduar was released and am finally starting to miss having a few people to BS with while playing :). I did create a new toon on Cairne the other day but it was during the day and I did not see anyone on at that time so I figured I would post here as well as try to hop on that toon some evening and hopefully get a chance to see some of you on. I am currently thinking about transfering toons rather than rerolling because I really don’t think I could handle leveling another toon:). Look forward to seeing some of ya’ll on when I log on to that toon as well as any information posted here.

There’s usually a few people on in the evening - generally 3 or 4 at a given time, sometimes chatty and sometimes not.

We don’t raid as a guild on other nights, but there are usually people around – some nights quite a few. And we sometimes quest/run instances together, especially the folks who are farming badges.

I told you all that we can 9-man those chumps!

DOUBLY amazing!

Even with the late start, we STILL finished those guys within an hour, and Shin’s directions were probably the biggest time-saver which deserves mention alongside with Rasz’s epic throwdowns.

I wouldn’t mind doing ToC again…although I will be on vacation all next week…including next Monday’s raid night. Going to Bend, Oregon again…had a blast last year there. But when I come back the following Monday, I’m up for any of the suggested raids although I am only 183 points short of being honored with Ashen Verdict and I want to upgrade that ring of mine…pronto. I think those ICC BS plans are available too at that level, correct?

In ICC, a rogue would be recommend as well when we clear the trash before Marrowgar.

Just join us! We are scattered throughout all US time zones, so there usually is somebody on…I tend to be more a graveyard type in the PDT. If you got an 80, consider a transfer to jump in right away on raid nights should Mondays open up for you. What is your toon’s name so we know that it’s you?

Speaking of which…reposting for any new comers…

If you have a warlock in the raid, the green floaty eye is also a useful trap tool, as it’ll set off the trap without actually aggroing stuff onto the raid.

And if you’re careful, you don’t really need a Rogue, anyway. You just pull all up one side in the first room (leaving the middle and the other side alone), use the doorway between the rooms to LOS everything in the 2nd room without going into it, and then run straight up the middle of that room once it’s clear.

If everyone stays where they should be, you shouldn’t run into any traps, at least not while you’re fighting anything else. (IF.)

Or you can do like our 25-man last week, where you have two Rogues and still manage to spring both traps in the middle of the fight.
