The WoW "Burning Dog Legion" (Cairne/Horde) 10-man Raid List.

Mainly because I guess I assumed that a constant +110 AP from Massacre is better than a ‘sometimes’ +400 AP that the Beserking enchant gives you, but I guess it all depends on how often ‘sometimes’ actually procs. Can you provide any insight?

The theorycrafters say the uptime is good enough that Berserking is the chant that pretty much every melee DPS uses. At least, it’s the only one I’ve ever seen anybody use, and that includes people in the world-top raiding guilds.

I couldn’t get any clear answers out of WoWhead, but it seems that the numbers bear out a 35% uptime (at least that’s the number given for Ret pallies). 400 * .35 = ~140 AP.

My (human) paladin uses Massacre on her weapon, but she’s also a tailor, which means she can use Swordguard Embroidery on her cloak:

“Embroiders a magical pattern into your cloak, causing your damaging melee and ranged attacks to sometimes increase your attack power by 400 for 15 sec.”

Basically, it’s Berserker without Berserker’s armor reduction. So my pally gets the constant +110 AP as well as the occasional +400.

How are we looking for a raid tonight? I was so encouraged by our ToC takedown a few weeks ago, but then last week we only had five folks show up.

If we can’t pull it together tonight, I’m going to make a final push to get Keyne to 80. He’s about 20% past 79 right now.

Cloak enchant is irrelevant, since the enchants stack. You should be using Berserker regardless, assuming you want to maximize your DPS.

Last check I saw 5 confirmed and something like 4 tentatives (players - it gets confusing with all the multi-toon players)
I hope we get enough to try again. But if not, I’m happy running guild runs. Always good for a laugh:)

Hey all…I’m back. Bend (Sunriver), Oregon is a great place to do stuff you normally don’t do and my sore aching back is constantly reminding me of it…had a great time though.

Runestar…agree with everyone else here…Beserking is the better choice, especially if you have SoV up…from Elitist Jerks.

I too still have my Orca Hunter’s Harpoon and still use it…have not had an opportunity to upgrade and might consider blowing 10k on a Battered Hilt.

Maybe we can 9-man these chumps in one run! Or even 8-MAN!

Feeling kind of wiped today; may not be up for a run starting at 9. We’ll see.

Those are still going for 10k on your server/faction? Whoa.

Not sure what your cash situation is; IF we manage to get the 'Dogs running ICC 10 on a semi-regular basis, you should get a decent ilvl 251 weapon in short order.

And even if you’re just running ToC10, IIRC that should still get you an equivalent of what you’d get from the Hilt, but for an investment of time instead of money.

I thought the hilt item was a level 251 thing; ToC10 drops 232 stuff (equivalent to what he’s got already).

You’re definitely right about ToC10, and it’s entirely possible you’re right about the hilt weapons being 251: I just had it in my head that they were 232. Entirely possible I’m mis-remembering, since I’ve never bothered to pick up a Hilt.

Hilts give 251 items. They’re hands-down the best weapons you can get outside of raiding.

There you go, then. Hilts are the equivalent of ICC10-regular weapons. Depending on your spec and gear, they may be better or worse for you compared to what you could get out of ICC10. (H-ICC10, ICC25, and H-ICC25 weapons will probably be better–as are, I think, any weapons off the Lich King himself, even in regular ICC10.)

Well only 7 showed and it just wasn’t enough, so we ended up getting the Kara achievement, with very little knowledge. Mostly we just tried to tank/spank every boss. The hardest one was the chess game, took a while to figure out what we were supposed to do. A fun achievement. I like the idea of powering through old-school raids if we don’t get enough for current ones:) (But more than enough for 5-mans)

I setup next week’s raid, but made a note. If you (like myself) get multiple invites, please only reply with one, it’ll make it a bit easier, at a glance, to know how many ‘people’ are confirmed or tentative. You can just decline the alts so your calendar stops blinking.

For your consideration when deciding on old raids: two bosses in Zul’Gurub and on in Kara drop mounts.

The mount didn’t drop, but we did get a bunch of enchants. Not as useful as they might have been in the BC days but nice to have. I’m sure I’ll use Mongoose sometime.
