BDL run tonight. Also, nooblings please check the guild vault - I threw some frostweave bags in there, of which there are probably still a few remaining.
So we only had 5 80s on last night; we did a random (ToC, with Muz tanking) and then ran PoS and HoR, with Lightbird tanking; he did a great job on the gauntlet at the start of HoR (of course I wasn’t watching health meters so I have no idea how close things might have gotten). Things got a bit dicey towards the end of the DPS race, as the healer (Rahuul) and another clothy (Kene) went down in the final zerg rush by the lich king’s minions, but fortunately we had 2 self-healing plate DPS and a self-healing tank who all managed to stay standing just long enough to finish the fight.
If I was more used to dpsing I would have remembered to use Dispersion and my health pots to maybe live a bit longer. As it was I went for my normal emergency heal, Prayer of Desparation – which wasn’t there since I was in shadowform and not holy. Oh well! Luckily you guys pulled it out.
Yeah that was a pretty nasty fight and any other structured group would’ve wiped. I know both Pallys popped their Lay on Hands, plus a health pot. I was trying to get aggro off Rahuul the healer but the mob just wouldn’t come to me.
It’s too bad that my mage’s Shriveled Heart dropped for us. I’ve been trying to get that for a while. (Since I don’t run ICC)
Yes, many of the drops seemed inappropriate for our group - daggers and polearms abounded.
I did pick up Orca-Hunter’s Harpoon which though it seems intended for druids, is an improvement over my level 213 2H axe (I think ). I’ll probably get home tonight and discover that my Polearm skill is level 1, which means another session of flailing away at those self-healing treekin underneath Dalaran to get the skill up to something acceptable.
I took the 219 polearm we got and did the same thing. Stayed in prot-spec and started flailing away at the tree. one Grove Walker lasted me 350 skill points. That’s when I started doing ‘real’ damage and it couldn’t keep itself alive. I’ll probably have to LFG ret with it to finish it off to 400.
Sure enough, my Polearm skill was only 1. Got it up to about 300 against the Grove Walkers, but then they weren’t lasting long enough. So I moved over to Icecrown, and started fighting the undead. Still wasn’t getting the skill points up much, so I moved on to the those Elite Abominations (whatever they’re called) that are on the dam overlooking Dalaran. Even fighting those guys only got me 2-3 skill points per battle.
I’m up to about 350, but darn, it’s frustrating. And I don’t want to try doing a PUG with this weapon until I get the skill up.
Edit. - lol, Bird, you’re right about needing to get to 400. For some reason, I was getting the skill level mixed up with crafting skills, and thought I needed to get to 450. Stupid me; guess I wasn’t so far from completion after all.
Once you’re at the point where you’re finishing off elites that fast, you’re probably good to start running the RDF again. If you’re worried, check your DPS on a dummy–if you’re over 1500 or so, that should be enough to scrape by without having to count on the rest of the group being geared enough to carry you. You’ll still be missing/glancing/whatever more than you should be, but all that matters is that you can fill your role in the group.
Could I get you to toss a couple of Druid “Thorns” glyphs in there (well, one, anyway)? Doesn’t look like the GB has any of the minor glyphs, only major ones, and the Auction House wants 30+ gold for them, about 4 times my global wealth to date.
If you’re on Cairne (which I’m guessing you are, since you’re asking about the BDL GBank), you can send an in-game mail to Darland. I have every glyph recipe, and will happily make whatever you need glyph-wise. Same goes to any other dopers that are in need (the mats are like 2g or something silly, so don’t worry about the cost).
Thanks – good to know. Although some of my ability to finish off the elites might have been the non-melee pally abilities; Judgements, Exorcism, etc., I was using those to burn the elites down to a HP level where I was confident I could finish them off via melee.
I also want to get the +110 Attack Power Enchant onto it before I start using the RDF again; but when I checked the AH yesterday, there weren’t any for sale (the pickings are always pretty slim on a weeknight). I’ll check again tonight, and also practice on a dummy to see what my DPS is.
So how many of those damn minor glyphs are there, anyway? My alt is picking away at them at a rate of one per day, and it seems like he won’t be finished until after Cataclysm comes out.
1.) Have you tried just getting the mats and finding a chanter? Mats + tip will almost always be cheaper than a scroll. (And cheapest would be having an Enchanter guildie do it–speaking personally, I never charge guildmates for doing anything with my tradeskills.)
2.) Is there a reason you’re going with the AP chant instead of Berserking? If it’s anything other than price, IMO get Berserking instead.
