I’ll be able to show, although I don’t know if I’ll have the throughput necessary to help heal the later fights. My tanking set still requires like 7 gems, a bunch of enchants, and two tank trinkets, or I’d offer to help offtank. I’ll sit in reserve unless you absolutely need to fill a healing slot.
Nope I won’t be available tonight. Signed up for Skethyl’s 25 man tonight since it’ll probably be the last 25 man we’ll run. There are more than 25 signed up though so if I don’t end up going I’ll let someone know.
With the Princes you’ll want three healers, it’s probably two healable but you’ll have to be on your toes.
How about a relatively undergeared tank (like Lightbird) tanking Keleseth while Ghastly does the other two - would that work? From my healer’s perspective Ghast wasn’t eating a lot of damage during that fight until everything went kablooie.
So I finally decided what I want to do with WoW. I know you all are on the edges of your seats. I think I’m done with raiding aside from the weekly BDL runs; it’s fun and exciting, but I just don’t enjoy being tied to a regular schedule in my off-hours. Nothing burns me out faster than that. I’m glad that the BDL’s back up to doing regular 10-man runs, though, it should make Cataclysm more fun.
Right now I think I’m going to throw away the Frost badges I’ve got saved up. I want to make a gobby shaman for Cataclysm and I want a full heirloom set. That’s a freakin’ lot of badges, and I only have about 70, with almost 60 of that in Frost. :smack: Even working on Champion Seals in parallel is gonna take a while. (40 badges per heirloom for the chest, shoulders, and two maces for 120 total, but 60 Seals each for the chest and shoulders means only 80 badges needed for the weapons. The heirlooms cost more in Seals, but I can get about 10 Seals a day pretty easily, while even completing just one or two dungeons is a chore.)
I’ll still join BDL runs as long as you guys will have me, which I understand if you don’t if I’m not spending my Frosts on gear upgrades.
Cool. I think I’m going to go against the grain in Cata and pick a Goblin Warrior. I figure with all the shamans out there there should be tons of tanking opportunities, plus pint-sized tanks are just cool.

That could work, as long as he gets enough of those shadow orbs around him he shouldn’t take much damage at all. The one tanking both Valanar and Teldaram will be taking a lot of damage though. After Princes I think the only easy boss left is Dreamwalker and that definatly needs three healers.

Yeah, I’m thinking of having Rumpole and Keyne in the middle, concentrating on keeping the double-tank alive while throwing some spare heals on the Keleseth tank, and Rahuul doing the raid heals. I definitely noticed that Reins was getting hit hard during that fight, and felt like I should have been in a position to help out there.
I was having trouble keeping Reins up; I was telling myself that it was because Shin got disconnected, so Reins was just standing there eating the damage. It didn’t help that I got knocked out of range a couple of times and had to run back.
1.) Wait until the currency conversion. Your lower-tier badges will be worth more.
2.) IMO, if you don’t want to use your Frosts to gear yourself, buy Primordial Saronites with them–that will give you cash that will make leveling a new alt easier. You can easily make up the ~60 badges as Triumph ones by running dungeon queues as a tank.
I don’t really see how that applies. Heirlooms are always 40 Emblems of Heroism. In that sense, a Triumph is worth exactly as much as a Frost right now. If heirlooms cost 463 JP after the conversion, I haven’t gained anything, and I’ve lost the 6 Emblems of Conquest I currently have. If they cost more than 463, I’ve lost out.
Pff. Gold is easy. I’ll make more money than 3 Saronites will get me right now just running the tourney dailies for the necessary Champion’s Seals.
ETA: Apparently heirlooms are about 2000+ JP on beta right now. Not just no, but heyl no.
Oh bloody hell, if 4.0.1 drops tomorrow I may not have a choice in the matter. :smack: I might have to skip out on the raid tonight to run enough dungeons to get 80 total emblems.
The last I heard was that they were going to be slightly cheaper. It could be that I misremembered or the prices and conversions have changed since then.
The last time I heard, Triumph were going to convert to JP in such a way that you would need the equivalent of slightly less of them to buy your Heirloom gear. So, to completely pull some numbers out of my ass, let’s say that right now there’s an Heirloom item that costs Emblem of Heroism x 50, i.e., Emblem of Triumph x 50. After the patch, it will cost 450 Justice Points, and each Emblem of Triumph will convert to 10 JP. Then, the pre-patch cost would be 500 JP, essentially wasting a badge.
This was all guild chat yesterday or the day before (I think with Shin Kell); what Bosstone said about the prices on the PtR jibe with what I remember. Weird decision by Blizzard to jump those prices now rather than wait for Cataclysm to actually hit (at which point I expect some serious Justice point inflation).
Hey Bosstone - I can’t get to those forums; does the blue post mention if the heirlooms will still be purchasable at current prices from the Mark of the Champions vendor? I’ve been assuming “yes” but it would be nice to know for sure.
I quoted the entirety of the post. I haven’t seen anything to indicate that the Seals costs will change, and I doubt they will because they’re a different mechanic. You can get 40 Emblems in one night if you push hard enough (and you’re queuing as tank or healer), but there’s a hard limit to how many Seals you can get in a day.
