The WoW "Burning Dog Legion" (Cairne/Horde) 10-man Raid List.

I’ve noticed this, and why is it that so many people seem to be planning Goblin shammies? I mean I understand wanting to try out the new race, but of all the classes available to goblins, it seems 80% of the folks who’ve mentioned rolling one in Cata are planning to roll a shammy. It just seems odd, since shamans are not nearly most popular class overall.

I’m expecting a lot of all-goblin dungeon runs for a while after Cata drops. Probably warrior tanks and four shammies from the sound of it.

I don’t get it either. My reason is that I want to play one of the new races, and I keep meaning to level a Shaman, so why not combine the two? I’ve tried Shammies before but I keep stalling out early on. New quests and heirlooms would help with that. Plus after 4.0.1, Dual Wield at 10! Woot!

ETA: Besides, we don’t typically have a Shammy available for BDL runs. I think the only person with an active level 80 Shammy is Shin, but since if he’s in the raid he’s tanking, we don’t usually have a Shammy. Our runs seem to be mainly Priests, Paladins, and Druids, with the occasional Warrior or DK thrown in.

Well, I include myself – I’m rolling a shammy too. In my case it’s because I haven’t liked the DPS classes I’ve tried (rogue, hunter, warlock) so I’m going to do another healer. So I’m hoping that at least resto shammies are a little bit less common than other specs. At least I’d be the only one in a dungeon run, which is how I levelled my pally. And since I used the mail heirloom caster gear on my pally, I’ve already got that in the bank.

Innnnnnnnteresting, and good to know–thanks for the correction. Now I have to decide if I want to spend tonight chaining Heroics to pick up Heirlooms for my farming DK, who’s already almost 71.

My WAG: A lot of those are going to be Alliance players. If you’ve mostly played Alliance up 'til now, a Goblin would be a good chance to try a class you’ve otherwise had pretty limited access to.

Plaguefury is mine, an alt for Taursus. Same with Skyfury, also mine.

As for everything else, I’ve had a spot reserved for my Goblin Warrior since they announced the expansion, so I’ll be going that route too. Strangely enough, I was most interested in making a goblin shaman, but I had already gotten my orc shaman to 70 so I decided to continue with him as is. Something about a goblin shaman is very appealing, I guess.

Well, the Dogs’ last pre-reset ICC run ended in ignominy - we were making progress on the Blood Princes, going from about 50% on our first try to less than 25% on the second, but some of us were making noises about turning in for the night, and on our first “one last try” Keyne (the holy paladin) pulled aggro off of Keleseth and got one-shotted; then on the second “one last try” the main tank (Muzungu) got killed on the first pull, at which point we decided to turn in. On the plus side, Muz got his Friendly-level Ashen Verdict tanking ring, and I think we have a decent sense of the fight now, even if we have to spend the next couple weeks relearning our classes.

I was one of the ‘one last try before turning in for the night’ I’m afraid. I was still jet lagged from our trip, and had woken up at 3:00 AM Sunday and Monday mornings, and was unable to get back to sleep either time. So towards the end of last night’s run, I was really struggling just to stay awake. :frowning:

Someone suggest that next week we reset and start at Marrowgar again. I think that’s a good idea, because:

  1. We’ll all be learning new specs
  2. Most of us need more Ashen Verdict rep
  3. We’ve only killed Fester/Rotgut once each, so they still have upgrades for us

I’ll bet we can get through the first six boss fights in 90 minutes, putting us in position for Blood Council again in two weeks.

That’s just my suggestion; I’m up for whatever the majority wants.

Not sure we’ll have a choice in the matter, but I’d be up for resetting as well. Especially since, if I’m running Muz, I’ll also have to learn an entirely new spec, even apart from the change in talents, since Frost tanks are no more.

That’s right; I forgot we may not be able to extend even if we want to.

Also – I think I understood now that you can only kill each boss once a week, whether on 10 or 25. I might be wrong, but if someone can confirm that, everyone needs to remember not to run ICC25 with a toon they plan on taking to our ICC10 run.

I’m pretty sure the patch will reset all saved Raid IDs, as every other patch in the past appears to have done. Sorry I couldn’t make it!

Also, for every fight in ICC after 6/12 I find the addon HUDMap to be invaluable. It’s a birds-eye view of the raid situation overlayed on your screeen. On the addon’s page, the screenshot shows the shaman’s totem radius, but imagine when on Blood Princes, everyone showed up as a circle during empowered vortex – you’d know instantly exactly where to run to avoid blowing each other up. This is also great for blood whirl on Blood Queen, malleable goo radius during Putricide, ice block radius during Sindi. And when I’m not doing those fights, I just click its minimap button to turn it off.

Assuming it works after the patch, of course.

This is correct. Not sure if I’m doing any raiding at all this week (kinda unlikely, tbh) so I might be available next Monday to play around with the new talents, etc…

I am all for starting Lower Spire again. If I can score even a few 251 pieces I’ll be happy. I’ve got a motley collection of 200-232 pieces which is only just barely suitable for ICC with the 30% buff.

Which is also quite possibly gone as of today… (the buff, I mean, not your motley gear).

Oh man, I hope not.

ETA: The patch notes only have this to say about ICC:

So it’s likely the buffs aren’t gone.

They were talking about removing the buff only insofar as our new mechanics would make us at least as powerful, BT. So if the 30% buff were gone, your performance should have been at the same level.

Interesting to see that Icecrown Radiance is gone. Hadn’t heard they were planning that.

I setup the raid for Monday, but not sure where to go. Will people avoid ICC this week for our run? If not, will we have enough tanks/healers? If so, should we start over to get used to our new selves?

I think we should do ICC, and start fresh (if we’re not forced to anyway). Folks will need to make sure they set up their talents, spells, addons and whatnot ahead of time.

If we don’t have 10 people who are ready, we could just practice by running some heroics (or going for the heroic meta-achieves). But in any case I’ll have Kene/Keyne available for healing.

Just repeating what I posted in the other WoW thread:

For our BDL Inscriptionists (Awsmpallytnk and Proditio), may I please make a request for some glyphs for our Ret Pallies (I think there are 2 or 3 of us that are active, although I am only speaking for myself):

PRIME:
Glyph of Templar’s Verdict
Glyph of Crusader Strike
Glyph of Seal of Truth

MAJOR:
Glyph of the Ascetic Crusader
Glyph of Rebuke
Glyph of Holy Wrath

MINOR:
Glyph of Lay on Hands
Glyph of Blessing of Kings
Glyph of Blessing of Might

Let me know if you prefer that I provide the mats or if you have them on hand and would rather accept payment. This seems to be the optimal setup for Ret Pallies ATM. Thanks in advance.

And of course…if anyone needs Blacksmithing (I have all ICC Plans) and/or Jewelcrafting (if I don’t have the recipe, I can go buy it)…let me know here or in game.

Darland has every glyph recipe in the game, so I can certainly make those for you, or anything any other BDLers need.

Downside: not sure how much I’ll be on until Sunday. But I should be able to log to check mail and do some AH work.

Feel free to send an in-game mail to Darland either with the herbs (roughly 15 herbs per glyph, any NR herb will do) or with a small amount of gold for the mats (I used all of my ink on glyphs earlier this week) - something like 10-15g per glyph is about what the mats typically cost, depending on herb prices. That’s way less than what I’m gouging, ahem, selling glyphs for (80-100g per) this week.

You can also whisper me if you see me online.
