Up and fed the kitty and now being lazy as mr ems is still snoozing. the MeltignPotmwas really good last night food wise but our server sucked. And it was just our server as he kept disappearing and everyone else appeared to have a back up server but not him. Anyway…we will go back as we got a gift certificate for donating to St Jude.
Having a shockingly lazy start- my housemate’s been working stupidly late shifts the last few days, as her work is renting out space for Christmas parties, which finish anything up to 4am. I tend to not be able to sleep if I know she’s coming back really late, dunno if it’s just that my subconcious doesn’t like being woken up or what.
I was supposed to be going to a juggling club today, but I didn’t get up in time for the start- two pm  . I may go late, but I don’t really feel like it. Should do, 'cos I missed the last two weeks.
Oh, and I don’t really like bacon either. Even when I wasn’t veggie, I liked the smell, but found the taste disappointing. I like fake bacon though.
StepPlant v.3.0’s (1) dog Mina, Princess of Pomerania and Lakewood, began murphing at 6:30 Ante Meredian to be let out of Durance Vile. She Was Not Amused to discover that it had rained without Her Permission, and began yapping to reenter Her Castle.
No potty, no entry.
(1) This is damned confusing. Stepplants only began with Mrs. Plant v.2.0. Stepplant v. 2.0 is the first stepdaughter, if you follow me. (Try and keep up, Swampy. This will be on the Final Exam.)
Stepplant v. n.0 is the daughter of Mrs. Plant v. n.0, not the nth Step Daughter. An obvious bug in the software…or is it a feature?
Mrs. Plant v.3.0 to the best of my knowledge has never made matzoh ball soup.
For those if you unfamiliar with Matzoh, think unsalted crackers. I took some to work for Passover once, and it tasted exactly the same three years later in an open box.
I am thinking hot and sour soup with ground chicken meatballs.
I’ll put a little matzoh meal in the meatballs, already.
The memorial service for my Dad was beautiful. He received military honors that included a 21 gun salute. The tribute speech I’d prepared pretty much went out the window about a paragraph in and then I just spoke from the heart. It must have went well because many, many people came up and told me how much they liked it. I managed to make it through without crying too.
Yesterday was an emotionally draining and tiring day. It was the first time all this became so real for me. I broke down before the service (and thank God, before everyone arrived), and cried some during the service too. The thing that hit me hardest was the gun salute and the playing of Taps. I was so happy to see such a military presence at his service. He paid the the ultimate price for his service to the country, and while he didn’t die on the battlefield, the Agent Orange they sprayed all over the damn place did eventually kill him.
Except for the inurnment tomorrow at the big veteran’s cemetery up here, it’s over and I can grieve silently, and start to move on.
I am really hoping for a quiet, do nothing day, but my sister and brother-in-law may come over today to hang out and eat dinner. If they do come, I shall actually have tidy up and go to the grocery store for meal fixings.
Home. Thanks for the happy wishes. Dinner at the Japanese Steak House at 6 - you’re all welcome, but it’s dutch treat.
After breakfast, we went to Lowe’s to pick out a faucet and kitchen pain. I think we succeeded with both, so yay! We’ll take the paint sample to the countertop place to check it against the large display - all Lowe’s had was a small block.
Towels are in the laundry. I need to do at least 2 more loads so **FCD **has stuff to pack for Johnstown. It’s dreary and damp and sorta-foggy and just plain unpleasant outside, so the warmth of the house is nice. As soon as my towels are done, I’ll mix up my first batch of cookies. I kinda didn’t do any yesterday, just because.
{{{Taters}}} - it sounds like it was a very touching and fitting service for your dad.
I’m half-heartedly working on my final exam. In about two hours my mom and I are going to Stan Hywet for their Deck the Halls thingy. D and I went last year and it was one of the best times that we had together. My only concern is that it will be quite a bit more walking than my mom is used to, but I guess we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.
I’d really like to go out for a walk right now, but I’m trying to be mature about it and work on this homework instead. We’ll see how well that goes.
I just pulled my lamb beastloaf out of the oven after the prescribed 45 minutes at 325 Amurrkin. Stuck in my thermometer, and it got up to around 120. Then, when I pulled it out, the juices ran red like it was bleeding. :dubious: I don’t think it was done…
I foresee a recipe revision in the future.
ETA: It smelled right, however. I also see nom nom nom in the future, too.
**swampy **- I’m ahead of you - first and second loads are done and put away, load 3 is in the dryer. I WIN!!!
**Taters **- I blame my defective keyboard! PAINT! The one I think we’re going to go with is called Rusty Cranberry. It looked really nice next to the granite sample and it goes well with our cabinets. And it’s a small space - a 10X12 room mostly covered with cabinets, plus two doorways and a large window - the biggest area needing paint is behind the fridge. A gallon is going to be more than enough, and if we hate it, another gallon will be a quick, cheap fix.
Thisis the faucet we’re probably going to get. We liked that it was squared at the base and I like the pull-down feature instead of a separate sprayer. So unless we see something we like lots better…
Pretty Lazy day here I have changed the sheets on the bed and they are drying right now and we have been out for lunch. I have chicken thawing ready to make tortilla soup for dinner. It is currently 46 degrees with a windchill of 38 and going to dip down to 26 tonight  hence it feels like a soup kinda night.
