There are stupid questions-A Fill in MMP

rosie, good luck with the operation. See you when you get back.

FCM, wow, how do you know how to do all that stuff? It all sounds so impressive–all that home-fixing stuff–but I wouldn’t have the first clue about how to do it. (not that I would do it even if I knew how)

Fetch and** kai**, sending hugs your way.

gt, thanks for cheering on my great day. Much appreciated.

Rosie, best wishes headed your way that all goes well; glad you had a good time out. Fetch, sorry about your pupper and that things didn’t work out with the dog show! :frowning: BTW, you must supply pics of all puppers. Boy, FCM, you and FCD are some hard workers!! I can’t believe you’ve both got all that energy, but I guess you all are motivated to wanting your new bedroom and bath done. Good on you both that you’re able to do this work yourselves.

My cable, both tv and internet, was out tonight, for nearly 3 hours!! Yikes, nothing to do!! Oh yes, there was plenty to do, just that all I wanted to do was either surf the 'net or watch some tv, right? Well thankfully they are both back now, hence I’m up at 2 am posting on SDMB.

Weather was gorgeous today and is supposed to be better on Sunday! I’ve got grocery shopping to do, so at least I’ll be out there in the great weather. I think Spring is finally here, although I haven’t yet put flowers out on the patio; think I’d better wait until May for that. Hope everyone is having as relaxing as weekend as possible.

Good luck, rosie! Best wishes for an uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery.

I’m up a caffeinating, and a off to church in a bit. I survived work last night.

Jahdra, Lucretia might do that, she like fire.

Good luck rosie! Hope it goes well.

Good wishes for the surgery, rosie. Please let us know how it went…

Sorry about the pups, Fetch.

Glad your internet is back, tarra. Isn’t it weird how dependent we are on that little connection?

Are you doing better, MBG?

Great progress has been made on the vast shredding adventure. I’m going to take a break from that today and do other stuff (gardening, other house stuff).

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday!

GT

Prayers and good thoughts headed out, rosie. We’ll all miss you.

It’s supposed to be summer temp here today. That will be nice, although it’s verging into too hot, and… there are people all over my nice street! Go away! My street! Get lost!

I’ll probably be walking on the road to work this afternoon, cursing all the double-wide stroller latte-clutching people who walk four abreast, very slowly. Summer generally fills me with pedestrian rage.

I’m now going to work on being nice as prep for church.

Best wishes for the surgery, rosie! I’m hobbling in sympathy. Remember, you get out of it what you put into it, so work on your therapy even when you don’t want to! If you don’t, maybe I’ll send Lapin Blanc to whip you into shape, too, since she did such a great job with both me and her grandma.

It’s a beeeyoootiful morning here. I got up and opened up the windows in my office, and even though it’s still cool, the air is so fresh and nice, and it’ll warm up to just perfectly comfortable this afternoon. It can stay like this all year long, as far as I’m concerned. Although I’d appreciate a bit more humidity – my knee, and all the rest of my joints, for that matter, definitely prefers consistently higher humidity. As I rediscovered upon stepping off the plane in New Orleans and promptly ceasing to ache.

My nose still looks hideous. At least one side is healing up; but I plan to hide in the house until the rest of it recovers, too. I haven’t gotten this nasty a sunburn since I was a teenager. Oh well, I need to stay home and work, anyway, right?

Morning!

It’s an almost balmy 18°C (64°F) out there, and it’s supposed to go up to 24°C (75°F) before the day is out. It wasn’t much cooler than that yesterday. It’s the first time this year that I’ve been able to go out (like, out-out, not just a jaunt to the variety store) without any outerwear. Wonderful!

Spent most of yesterday stuffed inside Adobe Premiere. The video I did is still rendering after almost 6 hours. Seems like the further into the video it gets, the slower it goes. It’s still only just past 78%. At this rate, it might be done by this afternoon. Maybe I should have rendered to Cinepak instead of DivX. Oh well. I’m not stopping it now. As long as the frame render count still rises I’ll let it do its thing.

I also spent a good deal of time slicing up and attempting to remaster a shoddily put-together DVD of classic technology commercials. I actually bought it off of eBay because there were a bunch on it that I didn’t have in my collection. I’m thinking of making up my own set of DVDs to sell on eBay for us retro-geeks. I’d have to give mine some pizazz though, with a cool menuing system and all that crap.

Well, off to get coffee. Caffeine is definitely the order of the morning. That and enjoying the walk over.

Good morning everyone.

Rosie, I hope all goes well with the surgery; you’re in my thoughts.

Fetch, I’m sorry read about the pups.

No big shakes going on here. The weather was not cooperative this weekend, so we didn’t do any outdoor stuff yesterday. My husband invited the MIL over to BBQ today, so I’ll soon have to clean up and head out to get the fixin’s for that. Plus, I’m out of milk and all that jazz, so I need to pick that up too.
Then I’ll come home and tidy up the place a bit.

I finally managed to color my hair yesterday to cover up the gray roots. I wish I didn’t have to mess with that. I hate doing it, it’s rough on the hair. On the other hand, I’m far too young to have that much gray, so it needs to be done.

kai, I’m sorry to hear you’re going through such a rough patch. You know we have big wide shoulders.

Taters, I started getting far more grey hair than I like at what I considered too young an age, too, but I got so sick of coloring it every 4 weeks (since my hair grows so freaking fast) that I finally stumbled on a great solution – or, rather, my hairdresser presented me with one: Do all-over highlighting. That way the grey is so mixed in that it doesn’t show up nearly as much, plus there’s no root lines as it grows out. It’s now been about eight months since I last had my hair colored; I’ve given up on coloring it any more, but it looks natural as it’s growing out. And oy, do I have a lot of grey hair now! But that’s okay, at least it’s only my nasty fried nose that makes me look like a freak these days. Sigh.

Rosie, we’ll be thinking about you and missing you. Wishing you a successful surgery and a speedy recovery - and do what you have to do to get back to us!

I have to make a PetsMart run today; I’m out of cat food and around here that is a bad thing. There is still food in the dishes, but the bag ran out as I was filling them. When the little fuzzers hear the sound of an empty bag they seem to get anxious. As if I have ever let any of them go hungry. I need to get a few cans of gushy food for Gwen; she is going downhill quickly and I want to encourage her to eat more. I’m not going to stress her by taking her to the vet; she’s almost 18 years old and has had a good run. I know they would tell me there is nothing they can do, so why stress her with the tests? It’s going to be horrible to lost her; she’s almost as old as my marriage.

I’m thinking of taking the top off of the Jeep, it’s so beautiful out there! But that would mean cleaning it out and I’m just not in the mood today.

See ya’ll later; I need to go check in on Mafia and make sure I’m not dead.

This weekend, apparently. Scottish Darling and I had never been outside Chicago before, and one of our mutual friends has a boyfriend down in Peoria who does gigs on the weekends, so we tagged along. It was nice just to get away from the city for a day. And the weather was gorgeous.

But have lots of work to do today. Sigh.

Break time - hullo, all! We’ve been going great guns since just after 6. Breakfast, then a trek to Lowe’s where the cover charge today was just under $400 (for the record, passage sets can be quite pricey, times 6!!) When we got home, I put another coat of white on the casing, then put the second coat on the bedroom walls. **FCD ** installed the sink, the toilet, and the shower doors. We now have a fully functional bathroom, although it still need stuff done. He’s installing the last towel bar while I take a break.

**Heff ** - my spousal unit learned a lot by helping his parents build several of their houses. Plus we’ve been homeowners our whole married life, and I owned a house before we met, so we’re learned as we’ve gone along. I also watch a lot of HGTV. The secret is to know your limits and hire a pro when necessary. For example, we can install tile, but we had our carpet done by professionals. I’m pretty sure we could install our own windows, but I’m inclined to have it done by guys who can do the whole house in one day. Bottom line - sometimes the best tool for the job is a checkbook.

**rosie ** - happy surgicals! Have you exchanged phone numbers with someone so we can get an update before you get computer access? That’s the rule. No, really, it is. And I may be right behind you - twice my left knee kinda buckled under me for no apparent reason.

I’m making swampy’s crock put chicken in italian dressing. It smells yummical! And I’ve got the house wide open, listening to the birdies singing, except when the neighborhood moron comes speeding thru in his loud street machine.

Once I’ve recovered a bit, I’m going to take up the old tack strips, then we’ll put in the base and crown molding. We may be able to move the bed tonight after all. If not, definitely tomorrow… YAY! Once we get this project done, I have no idea how we’ll spend our weekends. Oh wait - yes I do - we have to work on the boat!

Thank you, all.
I have Drae’s cell phone - (it better be the same number, girl!) and will call her either tomorrow evening, or more likely, sometime on Tuesday. Phone rental at the hospital is a little steep ($5/day) tho, but they won’t let us use cell phones, so rock-me-hardplace. But at least now I can call all over the place instead just within the same area code as the hospital.
I slept until about 2pm today - now I’m waiting for my friend to come over and help me out. I think I’ll go watch some TV until then.

Back from church (including moving mulch bags off the plants the Boy Scouts kindly placed them on), brunch (authentic Chinese - there were fish heads on the buffet), and errands. Target entrance fee today was $67 for solar lanterns and 3 DVDs.

I need to mow and do some general clean up, but it’s a bit hot out, so I may do some other stuff first.

Off to do something…might start with a nap.

GT

I have cleaned out the front of the jeep and have plans to do the back later. I cheated and went to Publix for cat food - a 8lb bag of Iams instead of a 20lb bag, but it will hold them over for a few days. I also got a couple of cans of gushy food for Gwen and she is chowing on one of them now - with the other fuzzbutts locked out of the office so they can’t take it away from her. She used to be able to defend her food quite well in spite of being the smallest in the bunch, but she’s so frail I don’t want to risk it.

Start storing up some hugs, ya’ll, I think I’m going to be needing them soon.

On a more cheerful note it is beautiful out there today and the top of the Jeep is coming down as soon as I get the back cleaned out. That is almost guaranteed to make it rain.

Boy, was it wrong to sit… We both decided we didn’t want to get up again, so we quit. Well, sorta. I did take up the tack strips, take out the trash, and run the shop vac around the perimeter of the room to clean up the stuff that was behind the baseboard. I also installed a new phone jack and a new cable jack. I think when I get home tomorrow, I’m going to load the van and go to the convenience center. And maybe tomorrow evening we can finish the molding.

Oh - and last night I ordered a new bedspread and curtains/valences - in red. Woohoo! It should arrive by the end of the week. Then I can retire the old comforter set .And, yes, I’ll post pics when it’s all done.

But for now, it’s chillin’. I’ve got some towels in the washer and in a little bit, I’ll make some N.O.T. and some kind of veggies to go with the swamp chicken. We need a dessert. hmmmmm

If you’re ever serious about the knee, FCM, let me know and I’ll turn you onto my doctor. Who’s like the best ever. Also probably by far the best anywhere close to you.

I just woke up from a nearly 2-hour nap. So much for getting anything done this afternoon. But apparently I needed it; I feel human now, whereas earlier I was just kind of barely existing. Now I’ll probably be up until the wee hours, of course. It’s always something.

I need some MMP good vibes.
I’m in the process of applying to the county for a paid EMT position, and I’ve already passed the written exam, and Tuesday is the physical agility test.
I’m in fairly good shape - well, I’m not a fat lump. I know I can do it; I just want a good overall time and to not fall down.

Yeah, I should re-post this in tomorrow’s MMP.
Anyway, wish me luck on Tuesday!

I did nothing today. :stuck_out_tongue: Ok, I cleaned the bathroom, napped and watched the Devils (Lucretia’s team)game, but nothing exceptional productive.

I am sorry {{{{SCL}}}}

Bibkitty, I send prayers, vibes, and wags your way.
