swampy, don’t feel bad about taking Unc into hand. Remember you are doing it to keep him safe. You’ll earn angel points. All appendages crossed for Warm Spgs.
I completely forgot to mention that my back porch is being tiled today. We bought the tile and Mr. Anachi was gonna do it himself but then found a guy who is really reasonable. What’s gonna be weird is having to let the dogs out the breakfast nook windows.
A phone tree is a method of contacting a whole lot of people with minimal effort. Person A calls 2 or three people, who each in turn call two or three other people, who in turn call two or three other people and so on, until everyone in the group has been contacted.
I am a graduate of “The University of Colorado at Denver”
I’ve had perhaps 6 HR people over the years ask me where this school is located. To be fair, a couple of them were confused because they were aware that the main campus in Boulder, but the rest were just thick.
Working. Took a moment to rest. Won’t be going home till seven pm at least (it’s quarter after five now). It hasn’t been a bad day, all things considered, but busy busy busy. I’m off tomorrow, yay!
Glad to see swampy materialized. I’d forgotten about the messed up phone, but figured there must be some kinda internet trouble. All appendages are appropriately crossed for interview 2.
I vote for rosie to organize the phone tree during her post-surgery recovery time. You’re welcome!
I’m feeling blah today (pass a crazy pill, please, MBG), but I think it’s mostly because of the Virginia Tech news. It makes me so sad that people can do that (I’m with you Ellen - disappointed).
But I’m glad all your medical news was good.
Interesting map, Puggy. Mexico appears to be terrorism free as well. Don’t Subcomandante Marcos and his friends count? (Although they’ve been quieter lately). I’d hate to see a map combining terrorism with violent crime.
Gotta clean house - book group tomorrow. Oh…and I should figure out what we’ll be snacking on. Clever ideas anyone?
Dinner has been made and eaten(spicy chicken stir fry), and I am watching hockey. Rangers are up 3-0 after one. Thanks, MBG, I had them winning in 5, not 4.
Glad to see Swampy is alive (and I’m crossing appropriate appendages for ya on the second interview!), but sad that his sinuses are bothering him. I’ve been feeling kinda blah today so took a mental health day–back to work tomorrow.
The shootings at VT are awful and I understand everyone’s need to know about them, but at the same time I think the media just go completely overboard. Too much info about really bad things causes me to become depressed; I’m probably not the only one it affects like this either. My thoughts and prayers, though, are certainly with those families of the VT students and professors. Apologies if this seems mean to anyone - I just wish the media could tone it down a bit.
Not really getting an impressive amount of cleaning done. But, I can still get stuff pretty much ready so that there’s not too much to do when I get home from work.
I know what you mean, tarra. I think that at some point, you become oversaturated and either get depressed or immune. I barely watch any TV, but saw some of CNN’s coverage during lunch. I listened to NPR this morning and have been lurking in the thread here in MPSIMS. I imagine that’s pretty limited compared to most, but I’m still sad.
Right now, I’m watching a distracting movie while cleaning.
Y’all have GOT to stop volunteering me for stuff!
Keep in mind I probably will not have access from 4/23 to 5/8, maybe sooner, but for two weeks I’ll be ‘incommunicado’.
Do you have someone who’s going to stop by and tell us how your surgery went? Or can you (or your designated caller) call one of us so that we can give an update? Cuz two weeks of wondering is more than we’ll be able to cope with.
Still not cleaned up enough, but I’m tired, so beddy bye.
I think it’s lovely that everyone thinks of you when they think ‘reliable, organized’. Although, really it might just be ‘more reliable and organized than the usual bunch of nutters.’
YES! This is exactly what happened to me after our vaca! I was told it would be at least 4 hours, not ONE. Grrrrr…but I sure got the one hour price. Vowed to never take my pics to Walgreen’s again! Bastards…
Am home from work. I had a nice day, even though it was extremely busy. Glad to be home, though–and it’s cold outside again. I am having a wonderful spring–maybe a bit too much, if truth were known.
Sorry I didn’t read everyone’s–I saw this post and HAD to commiserate. Toodles.
I went to CU Boulder for awhile! Beautiful campus. (of course I transferred because I didn’t want to go to school in Denver, so…)
Ok, so actually my contribution was completely irrelevant. <slinks away>
Appendages are crossed for you dear Swampy. I also hope your sinuses start improving.
Rosie, I hope you get to feeling better as well.
Nothing new here. Oh, wait. I received a card from the mother of my daughter’s “friend” in Missouri. It was a very nice card introducing herself and asking if my daughter could fly out for her son’s college graduation. Um, no. That’s not going to happen. I will, of course, write her a lovely little letter, explaining this and thanking her for kind invitation to take my daughter to tour colleges and universities there. I’ll add some other pleasantries as well. I dunno, I may call the mother first, and follow up with a note, just because the graduation is next month.
I told my daughter we could send him a nice graduation gift as well.
So, Ems, are you in the Sacramento area then?
I guess I should get going. I’s TAHRED again and I have a couple of things that need doing.
They were classified by the Mexican government as insurgentes, never as terroristas. And now they’ve gone political, not even exactly insurgentes any more… it’s more like los antiguos insurgentes of FZLN, the ex-insurgents.
That map lists “current events”, which would take out FZLN in any case since they haven’t spent any bullets outside of wedding celebrations for a while; some countries like Italy used to have quite-active terrorist groups but they seem to have disappeared altogether. Many of the old European terrorist groups were funded at least in part and fueled very much by the URSS. Now they can’t point at Russiya and say how wonderful it is, any more. In ETA’s case, a suspect source of income is drugs. There’s also crimes which in some countries are almost-100% terrorism and in others are seen as completely economical (holding someone hostage, for example).
swampy, I didn’t know you were out of teenage-hood!
