There is not one single thing wrong with buttered saltines.

Saltines with butter, but stacked three high is the only way to do it. Also, saltines, butter and peanut butter.

At my daughters school they had unsalted saltines as a snack.

They called them “tines” (pronounced teens).

It is very good indeed. You can add other things as well, but saltines and cream cheese is very good.

However, hot cocoa demands buttered saltines. It’s not just the taste, it’s the memories of my grandma making this for me.

Unless you are employing the saltines in their secondary role of heartburn treatment.

  1. They are saltines; i.e., the most tasteless cracker on the face of the earth.
  2. They only have butter on them instead of something with some actual flavor.

It’s the perfect combo of fat and salt. I cannot keep saltines in the house because for me, a sleeve is a single serving.

Saltines with butter is my ultimate comfort food.

If you’re feeling adventurous, add a few drops of hot sauce on top of the cream cheese. You’ll thank me later.

I’m so glad to find this thread. I thought I was strange for liking butter on saltines. I don’t give a damn how many calories are in the butter(or the crackers).

I eat Saltines with Butter all the time. I don’t care if the butter is salted or unsalted, however, I do prefer the taste of salted butter. I have not tried Saltines with Peanut Butter. I will buy a box of Saltines tomomrrow and I will try this.

When I was a child I would smear a thick layer of soft butter on a Saltine, put another Saltine on top and then smush the two together slowly until the butter came came squeezing out of the little holes in the crackers.

I submit that saltines and mayonnaise are also delicious.

Regular saltines sans anything else? No so hot.

Low fat AND low salt saltines? Satan’s pecker tastes better.

Many crackers taste good with peanut butter. Saltines and Ritz and Townhouse. One time when I was in the hospital, I was given peanut butter and graham crackers. I was :dubious: at first, but I knew that I would have a low blood sugar episode later if I didn’t eat something, so I tried it. And then I was :).

Me. I like them plain, sometimes with cheese or loads and loads of them in tomato soup.

Never with butter, but there’s nothing wrong with buttering them. I used to eat them with p-nut butter.

Usually when I scrape a Saltine across the top of the butter, part it will break off thus necessitating the use of an additional Saltine to remove the residue, which then breaks necessitating the use of another, and another, and another…

I remember when saltines made such that four were joined together in a super saltine. You had to be careful when buttering them that you didn’t snap them apart. That was a skill when the only butter available was hard butter in stick form.

My dad used to have saltines and margarine sometimes and us kids would have a few too. Nowadays, I only have saltines if I’m eating soup in a restaurant.
