There is not one single thing wrong with buttered saltines.

I love saltines plain. I love them even more with butter. I love them even more buttered and broken up in Campbell’s chicken noodle soup. I think that is my favorite easy comfort food. In all cases, a glass of milk is required.

Mmmmmm, buttered satellites…

Seconded. It may sound crazy but if you’ve never tried it, check it out.

Wot?

When I was young and broke, I had many a meal of Saltines and mustard.

It wasn’t bad at all.

Haven’t had buttered saltines in years, but I remember loving them as a kid. Might have to buy a box of saltines and give it a whirl.

I never thought to butter them. When I was little I used to make a snack of saltines and honey, though.

Or a meal ready to eat. That was always my favorite MRE…saltines and peanut butter.

I enjoy them with Ramen noodles. Just float the cracker on top until it soaks up the soupy goodness and scarf away!

Oh GOD, I miss those! :(:(:frowning:

I don’t know why, but the kind that were four together like this, I swear they tasted better.

I have a feeling you put hot sauce on everything.

That’s because they did!

ALIENS!!! I KNEW IT! I knew creatures from another planet were walking around here pretending to be like us! You have had saltines or graham crackers in your possession but never ate them with peanut butter? You must be from another planet. It’s just that simple.

In my family, when we wanted to eat peanut butter on crackers, we ate them on Ritz crackers by preference, and on saltines if we didn’t have Ritz available. I mean, we just couldn’t conceive of anything better than PB on Ritz. And I tend to not like sweet and savory combinations. I like PB&J sandwiches, true, but it just never occurred to me to put PB on grahams. Or on apple slices, for that matter, though apparently that’s common. But once I was introduced to PB on grahams, I found them quite to my liking.

I have to say, buttered saltines with a bit of hot sauce sounds fantastic.

Or even unbuttered. Though those pesky holes do present somewhat of a problem for the more liquidous hot sauces.

Just sayin.

Oh, and here’s another frugal gourmet tip. Do you love raw oysters on saltines with lots of cocktail sauce (and or hot sauce too) or perhaps some horseradish? Tastes almost as good without the oyster, much cheaper, and you don’t have to worry about getting hepatitis or whatever.
