“My whole life is a Hunger Game. Why do you think I’m so mean to you?”
" I’m not going to start the New Year with this kind of negativity. By the way, if you’re hungry for broccoli later, there’s a piece stuck between your teeth."
Biily Dee Williams was a really cool guest star. I liked the fact that he mistook Phil, in all his fanboy enthusiasm, for Mitch. Funny!
Haley and Alex getting panicky over Luke’s possible initiation into teenaged sex was cute and funny. They were too distracted over that situation to pay any attention to Lily!
In rewatching it, I am pretty sure that Phil couldn’t say that he wasn’t Mitchell just because of his adoration of Jay and the constant quest for affection and being called his son was just the pinacle of his journey. [I’m reading a lot into Ty’s facial expressions and stammering, but it was brilliant.]
The hot spring “event” was far too projected in advance and the pay off was definitely the low point in the show. But I was glad to see Luke soaking up some screen time- and his “do you want to watch? That’s weird!” during his answering the questions honestly was awesome!
I thought the kids had all of the best lines (except Manny of course). Recently I’ve found myself going back to my DVR to rewatch certain episodes, and ending up fast-forwarding the scenes with just the adults (except maybe Jay - he’s a kid at heart).
This was a very good episode. I thought the interaction between the sisters and Luke was extremely funny, but also very sweet. They still see him as a little brother, but he’s growing up. And, he’s crafty. “What just happened?”
And, Phil’s jumping up to meet Lando was very funny. As, was the confusion about him being Mitchell was funny.
