That’s a very valid question. Why “flirt” at all if you’re not going to “flirt” back?
This is one of those topics you should not get me started on. :dubious:
I’m so glad it’s Thursday. Not because there’s anything exciting about today, but just because it’s not Tuesday or Wednesday. And I realized that with the exception of a birthday party tomorrow night (which counts as fun, anyway), I have nothing to do this weekend. Nothing at all. Except maybe clean out my Tivo watch list–I’ve got four episodes of Smallville saved up, and a date with the couch for Saturday afternoon.
It’s my last day at my current job. I’m kinda sad. I’ve been here on and off since summer 2000 and full time for 2 1/2 years. That’s the longest I’ve done anything! And as much as they annoy me sometimes, I really do like the people here. So I’m sad.
But I’m also excited about moving and the new apartment and the new job and about living with KeithT. Mostly. I’ve never lived with a boy before so that’s kinda scary. And I’m very particular about how things get done so I may be really bitchy to him. Poor guy. It’ll work out in the end though.
Anyway, I’m just kinda sad about my last day of work.
Aww, taxi, that’s understandable. I got weepy leaving a job I voluntarily quit, once. But you get to go on adventures in a new place and yell at KeithT for leaving the seat up and putting the toilet paper on the roll backwards and drinking from the carton, so how fun is that?
Yeah. Think of all the fun you’ll have arguing about the best way to hang toilet paper. Leaving a job you like kind of sucks, but you’re getting so many wonderful and exciting things in exchange.
welby, oddly, no, I haven’t finished all the chocolate yet. I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but if I eat more than a pound of chocolate almonds at a sitting, I feel a little sick. Isn’t that odd?
rigs, you should have smacked her repeatedly with the linoleum sample.
Last night became a full-blown congratulatory party. Driving Husband came over for the evening, so I suggested that we pick Mr. Lissar up from work and go out for dinner, and then Lazy Husband wanted to come (insofar as we would be driving and it wouldn’t require effort), and then his brother wanted to come…
We got home at about 2, which was reasonable, because Mr. Lissar finished work at midnight. There’s a lovely pub near where I met the welbys that has the kitchen open until 2 every night. It was fun.
Good morning all. Just popping in very quickly to say hello.
Things are hectic because I’m trying to get as much work done as possible because I won’t be at work next week.
taxi, I know it’s sad to leave someplace you like, but you’re moving on to a new and exciting chapter in your life.
MBG, I’ll leave some beverages out with the cookies too. I’ll try to do better about passing by the windows more often and gazing longingly up at the sky. I’m a hair flipper from way back, so I don’t know how you’re missing that.
Okay folks, I’ve checked next week’s for the Alexandria/DC area and while not awful, it’s certainly not what I want. Please ensure the sun is out and temps are around 70 degrees or so. I think that’s a reasonable request, don’t you?
Yeah, that will be fun. As will watching our cats try to get along.
Ya know, I kinda feel like I should hang out in the building bathroom to say “bye” to all the people who work at the other companies in this building who I don’t really know but who I talk to in the bathroom. But that’d be weird.
Hello, just popping out of the bushes here to say Congratulations Mr. Lissar! And please forgive the asking, since I’m pretty new to the MMP, but is it just me or does Lissla have more than her fair share of husbands? No wonder the rest of us can’t get a date!
Yes, she does. There’s Driving Husband, Lazy Husband, Washes Dishes Husband, American Husband and Attacks Things Randomly Husband. It works quite well. She bakes, you see. She also has two quasi daughters. Did I leave anybody out?
Sorry about the late post today. I assure you it won’t happen on Monday morning. It’s much easier to oversleep when you don’t actually have to get up for a 10 am class. Anyway, I won’t hold you in suspense. Here’s today’s Fruit:
Sorry, donkeybear, grapes beat you out for Thursday’s fruit. Better luck next time.
Today I have to finish my undergraduate thesis, and go to Poly Dinner. That’s where the staff of the student newspaper that I used to be an editor of goes out to dinner somewhere. As this is my last few weeks here, I want to go to sort of say goodbye to everyone, but mostly to hang out with them for a while longer.
taxi, I think the sadness is natural. I mean, you’ve been working at your old job for I don’t know how long, years I’m sure, and that means you grow accustomed to a place. So enjoy your sadness, or something, as a sign of the transition. Use it to calibrate your new life in Minneapolis. (Does this make any sense? Ignore me if it doesn’t.)
And now I’m off to the Physics Dept. picnic. See you later!
It does. I do enjoy transition times. I like new things. But in the past, I’ve always been leaving something I didn’t like so it was easier to walk away. This time I’m leaving a job that I mostly like. That’s what makes it tougher. But overall I am enjoying the challenges of moving and starting something new.
Anyway, when are you leaving? Do you have time for lunch at Ali Baba again sometime before you leave? Once Mika’s through with her busy season, we should see if she’s free and all get together. Maybe for dinner then instead of lunch. Let me know if/when you’re free.
I also have Quasi-Daughter and Other Quasi-Daughter. QD is practically a professional tidier, and OQD is the one who got married at Christmas, and has an unbelievable ability to create mess.
Right. scout wanted to be Only Husband Who’s A Girl, but I don’t know if she counts because she’s left the boards.
Home a little early today - yay! I trailered our old mower and cart into work - a guy there bought it but he had no means of transporting it. So I delivered. Luckily, he lived all of 3 miles from the base, so it wasn’t a huge inconvenience. He’s now got the mower and cart and I’m $150 richer. I’m taking FCD out to dinner if he gets home at a reasonable hour.
Plus I got the refund on the balance of our boat insurance - that’s almost $200 I hadn’t counted on, so Yay for unexpected money!
It’s beautiful out and I really should be doing something in the yard, but I’m sooooooo tired! I flopped around in bed last night for about 30 minutes before I gave up and came out to watch TV. At 10:30, I went back to bed and finally fell asleep, but since I get up at 4:45, that made for an especially short night - around 6 lousy hours. So I’m tired. So I’m not working in the yard. Shame on me.
All in all, just glad the week’s almost over. Especially because it brings TaterFest a day closer. So, we need a venue - where’s a not-too-pricy place with decent parking and at least one bland dish I can eat? welby? susan? Suggestions?
Ah, thanks for the explanation. Until today, I thought it was all one person, whose title changed based on his mood or what he was doing. That last post was kinda like when you see twins around, but never together, so you don’t know they’re twins until suddenly you see them both together and then the part of your brain that recognizes that person has to undergo mitosis and you can kinda feel it splitting. Like that. I’m all better now, though.
I’m so glad we planted our garden last weekend. Tuesday and Wednesday were rainy, and today and tomorrow are sunny and warm. Perfect weather for new plants and seeds!
Unfortunately there was nothing of the kind. In fact, there was nothing of any kind, because all the food was gone by the time I got there and they were packing things up. I arrived at 1 pm, and it was done even though I was told 12-2. I feel very ripped off.
