Things I'm thankful for

I am thankful for my family. They were wonderful when I was a child, and they are still wonderful.

I am thankful that I lost no loved ones on 9-11. I am doubly thankful that at dinner tonight, my mother lit three candles–one in memory of those who were lost, one for their loved ones, and one for all the personnel (military, police, fire, medical, and everyone else) still working to try and clean it up and sort it out.

I am thankful for the SDMB community. I have made more real friends here than I have ever made anywhere. You people are the best.

I am thankful for Jolene.

I’m thankful for abundance of blessings that so many people lack and I take for granted every day: Peace, security, freedom and plenty.

Community, laws and applied grit that protect my rest and home.

Plenty: the abundnace and will to share.

Worthwhile work, and problems to solve.

The freedom to speak my mind, change my mind, make mistakes and keep trying.

Diverse, honest friends and foes who’ve helped me learn.

Untold moments of grace, human and natural, that I’ve too often absorbed as rights rather than gifts.

And the pure chance to be grateful, and say so.
