Yeah, U2 is definitely overrated. They’re just this mediocre pop rock band that’s two decades past their prime and were never that cool to begin with. I immediately lost my suspension of disbelief while watching the film Taken when a teenage girl was planning on following U2 around on tour. Clearly she was in on her own kidnapping, because no teenage girl would ever follow around U2 on tour.
Speaking of which, even if one ignores the U2 thing, Taken is a massively overrated film. There was some decent action scenes and Liam Neeson is a good actor, but the film was cliche and contrived. There was also some really ugly subtext to film. The virgin lives and her slutty friend dies because virgins are more valuable than “used goods.” The scary foreigners are going to literally steal our women. There’s a rapist lurking around every corner. Fathers (even absentee fathers) always know what’s best for their daughters. A step parent is never going to care about you as much as much as a biological parent. There’s just a lot of ugly messages in that film.
I don’t see how we could scientifically draw any other conclusion.
Adele is overrated and I never understood how people liked half of her songs. I only like (or rather, can deal with) one of them.
I agree that U2 is 20 years past their prime. I don’t think they’ve had a truly brilliant song since “Stay”. However, they were definitely pretty damn cool for a stretch, perhaps during the era spanning The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby. Just MHO, of course.
Sport.
I am not anti-sport as a concept, of something to occupy your time, both the participating in and the consuming of, but, Crikey, it’s not that important, folks. Overrated is an understatement.

IMHO, the worst movie of my lifetime to win Best Picture. I loved “The Fellowship of the Ring” and enjoyed “The Two Towers,” but ROTK was a muddled, crappy mess, really. On its own it’s a terribly paced picture and not a very good story; you can blame than on Tolkein, I guess, but it doesn’t matter whose fault it is. erhaps most damningly, it just isn’t as consistently well made as its predecessors; the visual effects swing from great to awful.
I know it won all the Oscars as a tribute to the whole trilogy, but on its own it just wasn’t a good movie.
