Nice memory (except I have no idea what a semi-bobber is, nor fires, nor a brown bag:confused:).
I also have seen MMPs for years, and have occasionally popped in and read a few of the OPs and still have no idea what it stands for. I’m assuming something artistic for the two M’s, (because the ones I’ve read have been really lovely vignettes of someone’s life,) and that P is post. I know, I’m a ding-dong.
It pleased me no end, upon seeing RHPS a few years back, that one of my shout backs has survived all these years.
In 1977, to the scene where Janet says
“Besides, the owner of that castle may be a beautiful woman and you may never come back”
I added "You should be so lucky!"
Yes, folks - that one is mine. Direct from 8th Street Playhouse in NYC.
Well, that would be why then. By the time it’s Monday Morning for me, you all are already halfway through your workday. And by the time I get home from work, of course it’s no longer Monday Morning. Not to mention I often don’t get on the dope on Mondays at all.
No flying rice either? Must have been a sedate group.
Thank the Gods I never had to clean the theatre afterwards. That job must have sucked more than the Carter administration.
Read this as human chicken and decided I should put my glasses back on if I’m to continue attempting to read or just call it a night and try my eyes again tomorrow.
Hope everyone gets the power back on soon. We’ve had a lot of outages here in Iowa as well and our amazing shade tree in our back yard was hit by lightning and split in two narrowly missing our house, power lines and grill. Hubby’s brand spankin’ new yard chair met an early demise. If it had struck a few feet over and it would have hit the shed that has the lawn stuff and gas cans and such.
It was a beautiful tree, it was an amazing tree. No more will be be able to sit under it’s shade in the day or stay at the fire pit just a little longer than normal in the rain from it’s branchy goodness. No longer will it have boys climbing it to sit in the perfect space for them to sit nor will our cat Riley James have a place to run to when he makes his grand escape from the safety of our home to the great out of doors which is his tree. Goodbye wonderful tree. Cremation services will be held at a later date. Please make donations of S’more stuffs and hot dogs to be roasted after services.
The weather people are funny. They say today it’s got to be hot in Cadiz.
Ah.
And here in Seville, what, we’re going to freeze? Apparently, since it’s common for Seville to break 40C in the summer it doesn’t count as “hot” when it’s 45. Wonder what t’s do we have to reach for it to count, 48 in the shadow?
The people who invented running water and fridges are my heroes. I’d buy a botijo (a flask of porous clay which cools down water) but can’t find one, so electricity is my friend.
Oh dear… I mourn for your tree. We had the same thing happen in 1992 with a tree in our front yard. Not only did a large section of it come off, it happened to come through the roof of our house. This beautiful tree was situated just right on the sloping hill that our house is on so that it had a swing on it that I spent much time on as a child. And, after we had the tree removed the house suddenly got much hotter inside. I miss that old tree.
Well, I’m awake and getting ready for a marathon day. We’ve got two lunches today plus I haven’t even finished grocery shopping for them yet because of the car trouble last night and I have to stop and pick up the car part on my way to the grocery store. Then, after the lunches, I have to finish up yesterday’s temp work this afternoon.
Bought my first new (vs second-hand) car in my 40s. Which is weird because I bought my first new (as in, had to wait for them to finish building it) house in my 20s.
I wanted to learn to play piano my entire life, finally got my first real piano for my wife last year. And this year I learned how to play most of ‘Moonlight Sonata’. Once I learn all of it and can play it half-way decently, I can die in peace.
I’ve never tried any illegal narcotic, not even marijuana. Never felt the need nor desire. Still don’t.
Welcome, all you newbies! Just to let you know - no nobody expects you to stay caught up with the goings on around here. Just pop in when you can, and say hello!
Sorry about the tree, Kricket.
Buns - I hope the headache goes away quickly.
ReboSon’s birthday today! He has requested Chicken Fried Steak, mashed potatoes and peas for dinner. He didn’t care what kind of cake, so I made a yellow bundt cake with chocolate glaze. Part of the cake stuck to the pan, so it kinda has a dent in it. Oh, well.
My mother’s birthday is September 21st. The Kidlette and The Other Grandma are September 22nd. When The Kidlette was born, The Other Grandma was told that she now had no excuse to skip celebrating her birthday. I think that making people have “celebrations” which follow other people’s rules is lame; TOG has nothing against it being her birthday, but she’d rather go for coffee with a friend of hers (hello, whose birthday is it?) than get a bunch of relatives visiting at her daughter’s, a situation in which TOG has to either be in the kitchen serving the guests or (and for her this is worse) let other people work in “her” kitchen (SiL’s actually, but TOG takes it over when she’s there).
I’ve got the grrs at the water and electricity companies here in Seville. The owners of my flat tried to just set my bank account as the new payment account but were told this was not acceptable, I had to call and do it myself. Then I called to do that and was told it was not acceptable for me to pay for an account which was not in my name (although this is, or was, very common in Spain for rentals) so I had to change the contract/s instead. They have sent to my bank both the last bills for the previous contracts (which my bank paid, see above for “customary in case of rentals”), and the ones they actually should send to me. And in the case of the electric company, there was a bill which they apparently have charged three times: once to the old renter, once to the owner, and once to me. Yeehaw! One thing is for sure, utility companies aren’t going to be the ones losing money. Fuckers have the government in their pocket and then some, too.
