This day in History - MMP

Good morning, mumpers!

It’s so nice to see all the new [del]faces[/del] usernames. Welcome! Soapy, it’s a one time offering of chocolate to FairyChatMom. She probably wouldn’t mind weekly love offerings, though!

Gotta get busy - these people somehow think what they want is more important than the MMP… hmmph.

Mmm, a Young Einstein TV show would be great.

Chicken, small or French?

Okay, I probably shouldn’t have laughed, but I did.

Morning all. At school, just barely awake. Tempted to give students in-class writing assignments and take a nap. Heh.

Illuminati, the Carpenters were way before my time as well - I was born in '82. I just happened to pick them up because of my parents. As a kid I loved their music but now I only really like a few of their songs - the rest now seem too sappy for my taste.

To quote Dave Barry, didn’t Alfred Hitchcock use that premise for a movie once?

(I can’t stand the Carpenters. They remind me of five-hour car trips to the beach. On the back roads. Which are flat and soul-killing. Hence the Carpenters are soul-killing.)

Of course you are welcome! Chocolates go to fcm and beer to swampy. After that we’ll sling out proposed nicknames and one or two will settle. I’ll start. How does lit one sound?

Those are some innerestin factoids, rebo! I like a MMP OP what’s a larnin’ one.

Lovely weekend at the Anachi Estates. We are experiencing a warming trend of divine mid-80s F weather with plenty of sun. How can you hate Flawdah? Plus we have the ONLY undefeated pro footballs team. Hee, hee.

I didn’t really have a team favorite since I grew up in upstate NY and lived in MA for over a decade after that. I watched the game until the Pats scored with two minutes to go and figured that was it and went to bed. Big surprise this morning!

My favorite commercial was the Budweiser fire one at the beginning. I also loved the Terminator attacking the NFL robot. That was cool.

Tupug

Lunch I’ll marry you if your still available.

Great OP rebo I love reading the “This Day in History” stuff.

I have a load of laundry in the washer, and it’s snowing like crazy. According to the weatherman (who is almost never right) we are supposed to get 3-6 inches of snow today.

All my Valentine’s are assembled and the envelopes are written out. Since there are a few mumpers that are involved in the exchange, when are you all sending them out? I figure I should send the international ones out soon.

I wanted to go to the bookstore and scrapbooking store today, now I’m not so sure. I almost want to just stay in all cozy and warm.

Good morning all!!

Very interesting OP, Delores! I’ve always been interested in history, though lately I’ve found that I’ve forgotten a lot of what I used to know. :frowning: I’m only 27!

I’m probably one of five New Englanders to be glad that the Pats lost. But, had they won, all of the Pats fans would have been unbearable today…as it is, everyone is pretty subdued.

[rant] I started a new position last Monday, but I’m still waiting for access to the computer programs I need. Aparently there is very little work I can do without this access. URG! This is so frustrating. The dope is good, but even it can’t keep me busy and entertained for at least 6 hours! Last week, they told me to go shopping or something!! (I hate shopping.) I guess if they want to pay me to sit around and surf the net, read a book or shop, then that’s their perogative. Does anyone have any websites they go to when they’re bored at work/have no work to do?? I’m used to being super busy and having more work to do than can possibly be done. This is driving me crazy!!! [/rant]

beebs will you add me to the people finder for Somerville, MA, please? I was looking at it yesterday, and it seems that I was missed. Thanks!!

:drives by:

Morning, everyone!

I bought cards at the weekend although when I got my list there were more folks on it that I’d put in as my upper limit so now I’m short of a few cards. I got the stamps today though, so I’m semi-prepared!

I was planning to send mine out on Wednesday which will give them a week to get to their destinations. They will probably all arrive early so the recipients will have to curb their enthusiasm and leave them until the appropriate day.

If I’d been truly organised, I’d have had them all ready to go today when I went to the post office to mail the gift I’d intended to send last week but never got round to buying until Saturday. Clearly I’m only capable of work-based organisation, once I leave the building I’m as incompetent as the next one.

How many posts are on one page?

answered my own questions–50!

And now I’m the first on Two!!

Already page 2? My, aren’t we busy today!

My students are so cute - they go out of their way to say hi to me in the cafeteria and stuff. Aww.

How old are your students Hazel ?

I teach at community colleges, so they range from 18 to who knows. Most of my students are between 18-22 though.

The trespassing lumberjacks finally came by Saturday to fix the ruts they made. After I parked the van across their field access and blocked them in…

LOL OK…when you said that your students were cute for saying “hi” in the cafetaria and such, I was picturing 7 year olds.

Le Pox du Poulet. French, I guess.

Hey, me too! Our students are getting younger and younger! What do you teach?

Morning/afternoon/whatever, all. I’ve actually been up and working for quite some time, but took a break to eat and catch up with the Mumpers.

I got nuttin’ today except I’m here. Aren’t you all just thrilled?

Good on yer for blocking in the Trespassing Lumberjacks, Bobbio! (And I still think that would make a wonderful band name.)* Question is, have they fixed the ruts to your satisfaction? Your hell-raising capacities are impressive. I know if they haven’t fixed them properly, you’ll continue to do your best work.

Don’t they give chicken pox vaccinations in Israel? That’s one that wasn’t developed till my kids were too old for it, but I thought it was part of the standard arsenal. In fact, I heard just the other day that they’ve developed a herpes zoster vaccination that will help prevent shingles even in adults (like me) who’ve already had shingles. Why can’t they come up with a vaccination to prevent the common cold? Anyway, here’s hoping AlesSon isn’t too itchy and gets better soon!

I’m done eating, so back to work. Thrillsville.
