Mooommm, most transcon trains leave from Chicago (albeit if you want to visit Florida and take FCD’s new set of wheels with you, there is this: Amtrak). Been on the Empire Builder to Seattle and the California Zephyr to Denver and Reno, still need to ride the Southwest Chief to LA someday.
Enjoy the zoo.
Herald, your friends wouldn’t be teenage, would they??
Nut, it appears the mallet needs to be applied to several heads…
Hang in there, nellie, Tuesday will be here soon enough…and then you’ll be sleepy all day Wednesday from staying up reading the Dope on the election results (that and the NY times count are my go-to’s)
OK, the Olive Garden stuffage led to nappage and while I have run the dishwasher and changed all the clocks and put a new air filter in, there are still Things To Be Done…so I’d best be about ignoring them.
All y’all have a good evening and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.
nut, I am so sorry you’re in that situation and hope you can stay well. Can’t recall if I mentioned it the other day, but a friend who’s a teacher is currently in the hospital with COVID pneumonia. He’s in his forties, VERY fit, no co-morbidities. His wife got it, too, but she’s been managing at home. Anyway, this whole fatalistic “we’re going to get it anyway” BS always makes me wonder if people really know what COVID entails for many people.
doggio, I can’t see what the little image above the angry face and poo images is in your last post. Maybe someone could help me out?
Time to water Berta. That’s my balcony plant. I wanted a name that reflected her ethnic identity. She’s a germanium.
nut, what is the reasoning behind the “no masks” rule?
While I got the Sunday chores done and finished folding the laundry that I didn’t fold yesterday, I haven’t had energy for squat today. I hope that I feel better next week.
@BippityBoppityBoo
Spring of 2019 I worked at the SAC museum for six weeks or so tearing out their obsolete fire alarm system and installing the state of the art system. They were lovely people to work with. I gave every guy the office sent to help me the first couple of hours of their first day to look at the planes.
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, accomplished major sloth and nappage, made and et dinner and I hauled the biiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. That’s the Sunday wrap up here at da cave.
As to the rumors about me, well, see, I found out OYKW is gay. Since we live together, share a bed, and do ummmmm… stuff to each other, I think I might be gay as well. I can hear the gasps and pearl clutchin’ from here!
MOOOOOM no rainbow sneakers but my aunt did by me my starter tiara.
Swamp Bears tend to be grumpy, need naps, and will bite the head off anyone who dares speak before they have had their first cup of coffee in the mornin’. Other than that, they are just smarter than the average bear bears.
Not huge amounts accomplished over the weekend, just minor sanitation (it’s still a mess, but no significant health hazards), supply acquisition, and dropping off ballots.
Not relishing the coming week. Whichever way it goes, I predict lots of wailing and howling and possible “civil unrest”.
Basically students lip-reading; a lot of people find it very hard to understand anything said by someone if they can’t see their face. It is a real issue, but instead of looking into masks with a clear panel or something (some people do wear clear visors, but the evidence appears to show that they’re a waste of time in that situation) they decided to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
Meh, anyway, it’s clearly Moanday here, so I shouldn’t be posting in this thread. I should be showering and getting ready to head in to the plague pits.
Yes, I know it’s the wrong MMP, but it’s a reply to a post in here!
Nut best of luck in the plague pits! We have moved most of our teaching online, and since students have reading week this week, I fully expect a bunch of them to go home and not come back until next year. The Bumbling Buffoon has already rumoured that he’s going to ban them going home between now and the hexmas break anyway, so I reckon a load of them will sacrifice their accommodation costs and do a runner.
My dept has a masks-on policy except for students with an exemption. All our rooms have been measured (twice, 'cos they got it wrong first time) and both students and staff have to wear masks anywhere they can’t maintain 2m distance. Tutors are given visors too, since we do language teaching and some of that is just not feasible with a mask, but works at a distance with a visor.
