This is why I love hockey

Anybody else watching the Wings-stars game? Penaly shots, rough stuff, great skill plays, shots off the post, incredible goaltending. Best game I’ve seen in about 3 years.

Amen, wolfman!

The fact that more Americans prefer Major League Baseball and the National Basketball Association will perplex me until the day I die.

There’s no accounting for taste.

I am a huge Stars fan.

There is nothing in sports like the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The level of play and excitement seems to increase exponentially as each game passes. I can not wait for the playoffs.

Did you see those saves by Osgood early in the second(not to mention the save by Matvichuk hehe). What a kickass game.

Broad Street Bullies.

Only God’s saved more than Bernie!

LeClair’s my favorite Flyer now.

A Flyers fan, eh, Chief?

Did you know the Wings’ Stanley Cup Champs banner-raising ceremony was delayed after they won the Cup in 1997?

They had to get Janne Niinema’s jock from out of the rafters first.

(That would be a reference to Darren McCarty’s clinching goal in Game 4 against the Flyers, for those of you keeping score at home. To say he put a deke on Janne would be to say the U.S. showed slight irritation with Iraq a couple of days ago.)

I’m a Mark Recchi fan, myself.

  1. Dallas Cowboys
  2. New York Giants (Moved up two slots a month or so ago)
  3. Detroit Chicken Wings
  4. Washington Redskins (Hi Falcon!)
  5. Pittsburgh Pirates

Chief:

I can understand pretty much all of those listings. Even the Red Wings. (They have kind of an annoying national following akin to the Cowboys or Notre Dame that I don’t particularly like. But I’m Michigan born-and-raised. I was watching the Wings when they missed the playoffs for about a decade. Who do you think I’m going to root for?)

But the Pittsburgh Pirates?!?

How can they inspire such emotion?

Hi Scott!

Go Redskins!

Go CAPS!!!

::Please, oh please let the Wings beat the Stars::

The Red Wings will always be “my” team, being born and raised in suburban Detroit, but I have to say I still root for The Sharks when they play The Wings…it’s just the right thing to do since I live here.

I do have to say that I could live the rest of my life in Chicago and NEVER be a Blackhawks fan. I despise the Blackhawks. Grrrr.

Being medium long-time Wings fan, It’s fun to try and date other Wings fans, by the team they hate most. The real old timers hate the Canadians, The fairly old timers hate the Maple leafs, People from my generation of hatred hate the Blackhawks, Fairly new people hate the Avalanche, and the newbies hate the Blues.

Dammit! I missed another game because of my stupid job! ARGH!

Just wanted to note that the Stars lost to an expansion team.

TWICE.

Carry on

Waaaaaaaaaahooooooooo!

This thread confused me utterly because I didn’t see the original date on it.

I was in suburban Detroit just after the game ended, and it was actually a little scary. Some yahoo had dragged a barricade into one of the center lanes of a MAJOR street and was standing there hollering and shouting and cheering while a passel of buddies leapt around on the curb.

While this isn’t the first of my many Red Wings threas I expected to see here, I figure I might as well use the oportunity to say YEAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, Lets go red wings, We kick ass, 3 in six years, Yzerman is still god, Bowman is a supreme being even outside of the Wings world, and Shanahan and Federov are on their way to Dietyhood.
